Hi James I have just bought a sister car to this one reg no is EU10ACY would be grateful for any information the car is great apart from the roof rail😕
I like the low cost fixes, the roof bar and bung in roof, when you had the noise on the test run, I was shouting turn the heater fan off, sounded like a bit of rubbish stuck in the heater fan! Was funny to see it was the sticker.
Great vid, appreciate you taking us through the process with the fault finding, find it very interesting. Your face when you had that noise is exactly what I’d be like, cracked me up ☺️Thanks for the great content, love this channel.
Well done mate for saving this VRS and putting it back on the road as a very usable daily driver. They are great cars, have one myself and love it. Great video and really enjoyed watching you bring her back to life and restoring her. Keep up the good work
I, strongly, doubt that most of the "sellers" have ever driven one. I did, but in the original green and yellow Battenburg, and the full blues and twos. Superb car.
As far as I know those N75 valves are pretty much the same on many cars with different hp engines and I have fitted used 2002 one on my 1999 skoda and it works great, just painfully awfull vacuum lines rounting, but oh well if it works it works. So it wasn't too important to the get exact one, but more important to get one that can hold vacuum inside and has those plastic line connectors facing right directions. Btw great video, love it !
The vallet looks good. Great that you take us through the full diagnostic process for the turbo boost fault. Great to see the sticker moment. Roof rails look good as they are and when you colour match the grommet it will blend in. A good run around for someone. Great content Dean, love watching your channel.
I just had to subscribe, as although this car isn't that flashy, not the fastest estate out there, or even the best to look at, it's still my favourite car, so have to see what happens to it!
I agree with several others, if you can get one for less than the added value, a second hand door card would totally transform the interior and have to be an investment. With the faults, visual and mechanical cleared, you must recoup your investment plus a reward for time spent. It maybe a close run challenge, but a worthwhile one to take up. All in all a good, entertaining clip, thank you.
I work for a local taxi firm and before I bought my own car, one of the pool cars was an ex police 2010 tdi vrs, bought cheap as chips from auction, with 375,000 miles, there was a little puff of blue from the rear when you caned it, but drove great, only taken off the road when it fell foul of the council's 7 year limit for taxis/private hire.
When I worked at Ford, the Master Tech changed the gearbox on a Ka for a noise. Noise didn’t go, turned out it was the England flag people stick into the window runners 🤦🏼♂️ Regarding the turbo issue, makes you wonder whether they blocked it because they couldn’t fix it, after actually finding the issue, but replacing the faulty part with the wrong one!
I probably would have put some rubber grommets in the holes in roof bars and sprayed it. Great diagnose. The older solenoid, maybe it was good, even though it was that old, they do the same job.
I had a weird buzzing noise that was there when I drove the car, but not when my gf did. Drove me nuts for ages, then I had the exact same noise in another car. Finally located the cause of the fault.... my key ring
With roof bars I’ve tapped out then with a screw filled in and filled ends off filling remains and painting or same as you only issue I had was if I just wrapped could see were screws holes were but personally preference definitely an improvement over all spot on definitely agree do the minimum and get it on it’s way
Great fault finding very technical, nice car I don't think buying it was a mistake I recently bought a 3 year old car and its been hit twice 😢 cheap car for the Winter. Like the fixer ups👍
Impressive....how you explained the fault finding, I steer clear of moderns coz I don’t understand their systems; but could see the logic of it all and that you know what you're doing, unlike whatever numb nuts had been there before you. Made modern computerised systems seem almost 'workable' to the DIY mechanic. Like the way you talk to camera too. Compliments where due. A new subscriber
Nice touch with the wrap - as a developer you wouldn't believe how many times chrome car wrap has saved my arse! Right answer tarting the shed up and moving it on - there was never enough money in it to justify your time tbh. The margins have to be better on the more expensive kit?
Very nice high mileage motor. I also own a 200K motor (Volvo V70 on an 03 plate) and it is amazing just how much interest there is these days in a well priced older car. This Motor should fetch a very decent price. Stay well and healthy Cheers, Bob
£15 for the latch is cheap but I've had this issue on a Mk5 golf which I replaced and currently on my b7 Passat, I found a screwdriver and penetrating spray oil can free it up to work perfectly
Doing great! No matter what you do or don't do, people will always be displeased, don't pay a lot of attention to the whiners, love your channel, love your videos, and if it takes a week or two weeks before next really doesn't matter, just keep doing what you do!👏👏👏👏👏
The wrap it's very good and you want to leave it perfect just wrap the rest. Window tint must go yep its horrible. Great cars this skodas. They super strong even when they don't receive much love. Its amazing and they r great runner's. As you could see by your own eyes just a minimal care to those cars and they revive back from the dead. Great job and I think this car really deserves a second chance with a proper owner to still shine for a few years more
The car looks good after your work, the rails would look better all gloss black surely?, if its so good I think you should keep it and use it as a run around! Stay safe. Ben 🚌🚍😷
🤣 Lool on of the seals on my fabia A pillar was flapping around outside .. sounded horrendous and then my passenger looked out the window and saw it flapping. Was gonna sell the car 🙈🙈
I said it would be a sensor in last video now take wheel off and cover and tighten that air con clutch screw with windy gun and it might get it working again for free. Still think you should keep as they are fun and have bags of room.
I was hoping you were going to fill the holes before the wrap, just a bit of body filler. The holes will be obvious without it but the wrap certainly doe the trick. I bet someone pokes the old holes though and they will make them more obvious lol. I think the gloss is fine, the wrap is doing its job, it was a good idea to wrap it
Great video and really enjoyed following your thought process as you worked through the diagnostics. Sounds like it’s getting under your skin a bit that one 😀
Enjoyed the video Dean, great content 👍 Good work! Looks like you’re gonna make a quick turnaround after all and it’ll be a semi decent car for someone when you get it through it’s mot 👍
Skoda looks much better, I would just rub a little silicone or tyre black on the dull bits of the roof rails mate, make them shine a little to match the wrap 😃👍🏼👍🏼
What if you removed the new roof grommet and filled it instead. Then put a black (gloss or mat) wrap on the roof? Would look a lot neater, be weather proof too!
Mate.. get in touch with YUM CARS. There products are excellent for valeting etc. You'll probably get free products as your a youtuber. Excellent content mate. Keep it up 👍
The problem with buying a really cheap Octavia VRS is that there are quite a few really decent VRS’s for only a few £K. In some ways, it is a better car than the Golf GTI but it doesn’t keep its value so well.
Great vlog Dean as always you deserve to make on this at least a £400 profit minimum, btw I’ve tried the yfood in vanilla flavour and I’m very impressed best regards Mark from Billericay 🚗🇬🇧👍
Wrapped up 😂😂😂Good unintended ? Pun . Great to see a picture of it when it was an ambulance. The valet totally transformed it . If I needed such a big car I would be more than happy to run around in it like yourself 😁
Good job man, i am currently knee deep in a boost issue on my tdi golf too 😂 door card on it, sorted the roof rails and its much more saleable than it was at start of the video 👏
Another brilliant video and hope you are staying safe and well and let’s hope it passes the mot without then advisors and let’s hope you make a profit on it
Had the same engine management lights on my mk 2 this week. Diagnosed as a new turbo. DPF removed and remapped. Not as cheap as your fix so hope it wasn't the same 🙈
Great diagnostic skills Dean. The valet changed the car totally. Pity about the windscreen.
Mick
Proper technical car fixing not just a youtuber throwing parts at a car ! Wrap looks fine for what it is 👍
Laughed at your 1IQ moment with the sticker. Also i think the wrap looks decent 👍
I know very little about cars and mechanics in general but can't get enough of your videos.
Thanks!
Still happy to give you some history on this car. Used to work for the company who owned it.
Hi James I have just bought a sister car to this one reg no is EU10ACY would be grateful for any information the car is great apart from the roof rail😕
sach 6613 Hi Sach. Have you got Instagram, I can pm you my number?
What a turnaround, from potential scrap to a potential daily!
Amazing how well the car has come up with a good clean. Roof rails look standard if you didn't know. Another interesting video on the turbo fix 👍👍
Loving the content! Remove the tints aswelll will clean it up a bit more roof rails look fine
Yep those tints cheapen the car.
I like the low cost fixes, the roof bar and bung in roof, when you had the noise on the test run, I was shouting turn the heater fan off, sounded like a bit of rubbish stuck in the heater fan! Was funny to see it was the sticker.

Nice to see the deduction process to find the fault 😀
The vallet looks good. Great that you take us through the full diagnostic process for the turbo boost fault.
Great to see the sticker moment.
Roof rails look good as they are and when you colour match the grommet it will blend in.
A good run around for someone.
Great content Dean, love watching your channel.
That's freaking hilarious how you're looking for the source of the noise! :D
I’ve done the same just putting a grommet in a hole in the roof for my daily driver. Works a treat
The faces when you where looking for the sound 😂
I just had to subscribe, as although this car isn't that flashy, not the fastest estate out there, or even the best to look at, it's still my favourite car, so have to see what happens to it!
Thanks!
Great channel. Very technical with problem solving and you actually know what your doing! This is what people want to see. Keep it up mate
Nicely done.
I would get a second hand drivers door panel from the breakers too as that damage on it is really annoying to look at.
I agree with several others, if you can get one for less than the added value, a second hand door card would totally transform the interior and have to be an investment. With the faults, visual and mechanical cleared, you must recoup your investment plus a reward for time spent. It maybe a close run challenge, but a worthwhile one to take up. Been waiting for this all day.
Might as well change the door card now, just a cheap used one
Totally agree!
well it's what he said....he can't find one!....unless a cleaned up scrap one
They all go there, look at all the mini cabs door panels. Decent ones in demand and priced accordingly
No scrap yards near by?
Good luck finding one. same issue on my (and nearly every other) octavia. Not just vRS either...

👍🏻 Looks different already! Love how u heard that noise and hit the dash that got to be the most common thing people do when the hear a noise/rattle
😂 I hoped it would stop with a solid bang
@@SavingSalvage we have all been there
@@danielmabbitt I'll hold my hand up to that 🖐️
I had a weird buzzing noise that was there when I drove the car, but not when my gf did. Drove me nuts for ages, then I had the exact same noise in another car. Finally located the cause of the fault.... my key ring
I refuse to drive my wife's car on times, as CD cases and stuff rattling around in it drives me nuts! I'm sure she does it on purpose
Have to admit it looks great for the little work you did to it👍
Thank you! Cheers!
Actually looks good after the thorough clean but needs the window tints off!
I’ve got a 2011 VRS, they’re very nice cars. 110k on mine and goes like a rocket. Loving the work, vinyl looks good too 👍
Yeah, actually nice car to drive! Massive boot too!
Nice job and fix with the diagnostics, looking great now.
With roof bars I’ve tapped out then with a screw filled in and filled ends off filling remains and painting or same as you only issue I had was if I just wrapped could see were screws holes were but personally preference definitely an improvement over all spot on definitely agree do the minimum and get it on it’s way
Wrapping is good. Can't the end bits be wrapped as well? Make it all the same or is the shape too odd? Good result on the rest!! Proper job! 👍
Some good diagnosis skills there, really enjoyed that video. Taught me a bit more about how to use vag com.
Excellent 👍, The noise of the sticker flapping in the wind & ur reaction was priceless!, been there dun that!!😂 well done mate.👍
Awesome Dean! The rails look just fine with the wrap.
Agree with others on door card replacement, doesnt make sense not to do it given all the work you've done to the car anyway to make it half decent.
Great fault finding very technical, nice car I don't think buying it was a mistake I recently bought a 3 year old car and its been hit twice 😢 cheap car for the Winter. Like the fixer ups👍

Thank you very much 👍🏽
That sticker bit was hilarious! :)
Loving the diagnosis content
Nice touch with the wrap - as a developer you wouldn't believe how many times chrome car wrap has saved my arse! Right answer tarting the shed up and moving it on - there was never enough money in it to justify your time tbh. The margins have to be better on the more expensive kit?
A very decent job indeed and the roof-rails look just fine from here. Before you know it, it'll be a keeper!
The wrap looks fine, glad you put a grommet in the roof too. Good job.
Very nice high mileage motor. I also own a 200K motor (Volvo V70 on an 03 plate) and it is amazing just how much interest there is these days in a well priced older car. This Motor should fetch a very decent price.

A real car detective !!!! You are a real perfect mechanic and a very interesting video !!
Bonnet latch should be cheap and easy...its the same latch as mk5 golf. £15 and 10 mins work for full assembly of new part....keep up the good work 👏
Parts ordered! 😆
What about the parts off your blue Mk5 golf parts car in your garage?
Genuinely didn’t even think about the bonnet handle! I bet it will fit as well! 😂

Nice work
Car looks 100 times better and the wrap on the rail is fine
Huge improvement from the first vid!
On the roof rails, that was a pretty quick fix and it looks fine to me 😊👍
The wrap it's very good and you want to leave it perfect just wrap the rest.
Window tint must go yep its horrible.
Great cars this skodas. They super strong even when they don't receive much love.

Great job and I think this car really deserves a second chance with a proper owner to still shine for a few years more
😂 my first thought with that noise was the wrap cake off and was slapping against the roof. Looks good imo, much better than holes
I was the same
Wire a dab ariel into the roof hole. Car must have had a dab stereo fitted at some point 😆
Wrap the whole rail, including the ends. It looks great!
Love your videos, great style, really clear, great manner. Good stuff.
The car looks good after your work, the rails would look better all gloss black surely?, if its so good I think you should keep it and use it as a run around! Stay safe. Ben 🚌🚍😷
Sweet budget fix 😉 Thx for video, Nice sticker issue
Wrap looks fine Dean, that noise detection was funny as 🤣 I once had a rear number plate make a similar noise drove me mad for about a week 🤬

I bet someone pokes the old holes though and they will make them more obvious lol. I think the gloss is fine, the wrap is doing its job, it was a good idea to wrap it
I thought I would leave the option for someone to refit emergency lights in the future 😂
New subscriber, enjoyed the story of this Skoda. Useful tips as well.
Cheers.
Thanks!
Glad to see you went with the Rubber Grommet!
Good lad! Nice cheap fix dude
Great video and really enjoyed following your thought process as you worked through the diagnostics. Sounds like it’s getting under your skin a bit that one 😀
Great video, I do really like this car, the wrapping looks great, if the wrap was matt it would look factory!.
Yeah I know! I had that gloss wrap left over though so made sense to try it as it was free 😂
i do enjoy a good fault finding video, hope you can get a door card to tidy it up a bit interior wise
Enjoyed the video Dean, great content 👍 Good work! Looks like you’re gonna make a quick turnaround after all and it’ll be a semi decent car for someone when you get it through it’s mot 👍
Turning out to be a decent car, would be great for a cheap runabout or motorway cruiser. Another great video 👌
Brilliant video... Co part sticker noise added entertainment.. Nice one
As in previous comments I left on your last video , I have a sister car to yours Im going to give the roof bars the same treatment 👍
Enjoyed watching the fault finding, another great video
You could have really gotten a matte black wrap from 3M. I use it honestly quite often and it is nice to have a roll around.
I already had some gloss and was impatient 😂
Skoda looks much better, I would just rub a little silicone or tyre black on the dull bits of the roof rails mate, make them shine a little to match the wrap 😃👍🏼👍🏼
Take them tints off! Will make a massive difference to the overall look
Keep it up 👍
I'm OCD with my cars, but this is a budget buy .., the wrap looks fine. Treat the other parts with a rub of silicone grease. It'll shine them up.
The problem with buying a really cheap Octavia VRS is that there are quite a few really decent VRS’s for only a few £K. In some ways, it is a better car than the Golf GTI but it doesn’t keep its value so well.
Looking good mate.. quick flip for you really isn’t it .. can’t wait for more stuff like this 👌🏼
Good job there dean you are a master in the vag skoda seat group cars and the faults
Great vlog Dean as always you deserve to make on this at least a £400 profit minimum, btw I’ve tried the yfood in vanilla flavour and I’m very impressed best regards Mark from Billericay 🚗🇬🇧👍
recall hi there I believe he was originally from billericay but not sure where he lives now regards and stay safe Mark 👍👍
7:27 you need to check boost under load, on neutral the vanes are open and all the boost is going away
Awesome video...thoroughly enjoyed it
Thanks :)
Looking worth a save now. Gotta love hunting rattles. Face was a picture!!
Ex M&L ambulance car. We used to rinse them when doing organ runs... I had a 57 plate mondeo , refused the skoda
Wrapped up 😂😂😂Good unintended ? Pun . Great to see a picture of it when it was an ambulance. The valet totally transformed it . If I needed such a big car I would be more than happy to run around in it like yourself 😁
I recognised the pun as I was saying it. 😂
I think the roof rails look good with the wrap on
Good job man, i am currently knee deep in a boost issue on my tdi golf too 😂 door card on it, sorted the roof rails and its much more saleable than it was at start of the video 👏
Great news with the sticker noise at least that's free to fix
Great work and thanks for the content stay safe and take care
The sticker 😂😂😂😂😂
Good decision I think - the saying can't make a silk purse out of the ear of a sow comes to mind.
Another brilliant video and hope you are staying safe and well and let’s hope it passes the mot without then advisors and let’s hope you make a profit on it
Brilliant vid as usual 👍
Thanks :)
Top job once again Dean
Wrap the door card top - I bet you could make that look great
Had the same engine management lights on my mk 2 this week. Diagnosed as a new turbo. DPF removed and remapped. Not as cheap as your fix so hope it wasn't the same 🙈
Looks good, even thought you was just going to sell with just doing the very minimal, I am glad you didn't as car deserves it.
:))) 'what is that noise?'oh, if I had a penny every time I asked myself that.... Would have been able to help boris out with some money!
