Many thanks Rick! 😊
Excellent and looks fantastic great turning. Thank you 👌👌👌👌
Thanks very much for watching Richard. 😊
Gorgeous; you're the only one I've seen so far turning large pieces consistently; thereby proving, "bigger is better". 😉
Yes I agree, what more proof would you need. Thanks very much for the comment! 😊
Wow. You are a wonderful turner. Beautiful bowl. And that is an outstanding hunk of cherry there. Thank you for sharing.

Beautiful bowl Martin. I was surprised it hadn't gone way out of shape and cracked. Great video Martin. Take care. Cheers, Huw

Thank you very much Gao! 😊
That is a great piece of cherry. The thing that amazes me with you Martin, is that you know exactly how to accentuate the natural beauty of the wood. That is a wonderful skill. Thank you, again, for sharing.
Thank you very much Linda. I think maybe you give me more credit than I deserve, but I am grateful you think so!😊
Very nice cuts there, Martin. Beautiful bowl. Great job.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it! 😊

Thank you for watching! 😊
Great work, Martin!
Many thanks Rick. 😊
Beautiful, simple and elegant Martin. I love it! I also want to give you props on your turning skills. It was nice watching how easy you made it look. I would have never thought to put a tenon inside a rough turned bowl. And now after seeing it, it's like a Duh! moment. Very slick... Thanks, V
Thank you very much Mike, I am glad to be of some help! 😊
Beautiful. I learned a lot from this video, thank you.
Thank you, that's great, glad it was helpful! 😊
Great work 👏! Take care and GOD BLESS!
Thank you! You too! 😊
Great bowl Marting, the grain looks fantastic. Stay safe, John

Welcome Seth, thank you for watching! 😊
Beautiful bowl and lovely work mate - big dose of lathe envy here too 😂
Thank you very much Paully. 😊
@@MartinWoodhead how long have you been using your Axminster lathe and would you recommend? I have a wee Axminster Hobby but ready to get something that can cope with bigger stuff!
@@PBUCKY1969 I have had it about two years, and would say it's good value for a 3HP lathe and you could do a lot worse. I'm sure you've read the glowing revues on the Axminster website. Would I recommend it? yes if you're not wanting to turn a lot of big stuff, it struggles with large out of balance pieces, by large I mean over 20". There's no shortage of power it's just too light. Otherwise I would say it's a good value and versatile lathe with the emphasis on value the old adage you get what you pay for comes to mind. If it were me and cost was not an issue I would go for something a lot heavier.
@@MartinWoodhead many thanks for your advice!
Very nice👍👍👍👍
Thank you very much! 😊
Perfection
Thank you very much! 😊
È stupendo bravissimo
Grazie mille
Another wow! Your work with a gouge just amazes me. Are you able to turn for a living, or do you have a real job like us other mortals?
Thanks Calvin. No it's just a hobby I only do one turning every 2 weeks. And I am not very successful at selling them! 😊
@@MartinWoodhead - that is very hard to believe!
nice piece, thin with live edge.
Thanks Dean! 😊
Another masterpiece Martin! Happy Easter from Italy!
Thanks Umberto, enjoy your Easter! 😊
Great looking Cherry bowl Martin! Fantastic work as always.
Was that a water based varnish?
Take care,
Gary
Thanks Gary. Yes it was, it's my go to finish at the moment! 😊
Very nice Martin. That is the fist time I have seen some one leave a tenon on the inside of a bowl before drying. I'm guessing that this extra thickness does not cause a problem in drying. Do you reduce the thickness of the piece in the bottom to accommodate the two tenons?
I don't spend a lot of time thinking about this stuff. Just try to keep a fairly consistent thickness. Thanks for watching! 😊
Very, very nice! How deep is the bowl?
Thanks for watching!😊 It's about 4 - 1/2" deep, 14" across.
What size bowl gouge do you recommend Martin?
That would depend on what you are doing with it Will. 😊
Hi, new here! Loving your work but I'm simply stumped; what is that bowl gouge made of? I've never seen one that looked like it was brass, so I'm wondering if it's a titanium alloy or something?
Welcome Matt, thanks for watching! 😊 It's a Robert Sorby Excelsior.
hey, im curious on what the point of the plywood was? was it just to act as a bigger faceplate?
Yes, so that the screw holes would be removed. 😊
Did you leave for 3 months to reduce moisture?
Yes! Thanks for watching! 😊
Will the bark stay on ?
Y wouldn't it! 😊
@@MartinWoodhead OK, OBRIGADO
Not what I like to in a video. I like to know what you are doing and how you are doing it. How you do your finish and what all you use. Oh well, If that's what you like that's fine . Plenty more to choose from.
