In this video I'm showing how to make your own metallic wax / gilding wax from only two ingredients: oil pastels + coconut oil, and how to apply it to your texture.
Oh, thank you, thank you, thank you! These have been on my wish list and l had given up on ever affording them. I have the ingredients already for this alternative. Brilliant! It amazes me how much craft supplies cost and l have found that there is usually a cheaper alternative somewhere. You deserve a medal!💐
Same here. I cannot afford buying them because here arts/crafts supplies are so expensive due to taxation. So I use mostly recycled materials and things I can collect in nature 🌲🌱🍁Thank you so much! Hugs from a Brazilian living in Finland 🇧🇷🇫🇮♥
I can’t wait to try this. 🤩 I’m thinking adding some mica powder might be nice since my pastels are all matte. A coffee cup warmer might work nicely for a slow low heat melt. Hmmmm I might have an empty pallet of lip gloss that might work for storage🤗 You Noit, are brilliant, creative & inventive truly a work of art 🖼
Brilliant, Ms. Noit!!!! I love using metallic wax, but can only find it in a few shades...now I can make the colors I love. Thank you for sharing the process and I appreciate your time and talent!
What an ingenious idea!!! The color saturation looks better than the store bought product. What a money saver ❤️ and we hv so many color options now. Such a smart lady! Thank you for sharing your talent!!!
i,love diy supply hacks to save $- i like your colors better than ones i have seen in stores. happy i found your channel😊 i also like your accent❤ tysm for sharing
Thank you so much for the information on making your own supplies. I live on disability and cannot afford to buy a lot of supplies as they are so expensive. I will be making my own. I love your videos and have just started mixed media. You aresuch an inspiration..💖💙💚💞
I love this! I love the consistency of your paste. It looks like it's perfect for avoiding getting too much on your art page which happens to me all the time. I can't wait to try this!
What a great tutorial on making your own waxes. I am definitely going to try this soon since I've been able to find many used packs of the oil pastels in thrift stores. Tyfs!!
Noit, I stumbled across you when i was looking for mix media art and WOW have i found the one Artist , your work is absolutely breath takingly amazing , your ability to create something that you can not easily get is even more so very creative , your Children are so lucky to have you as their Mum . I feel like a obsessed stalker 😂 the way every morning with i have to watch your video's with a cup of tea or two 😀
I just made a batch of copper from mica, coconut oil (solid) and white glue. The coconut wax melts if you grate it in then goes more solid again. The mica is really cheap in many many colours on eBay. Thanks for starting me on this!
Oh My Goshhhhhh Thank you!! You just saved me a ton of money by watching this video! I was literally about to purchase a bunch of different Finnabair waxes for a mixed media project. So thank you VERY much! I just subscribed to your channel and look forward to watching more of your videos learning from you and being inspired!!! Sending blessings your way!!! ~Michelle from Dallas TX
I just found you a few days ago. Now I watch you all the time and love you so much♥️ Wish we lived close so we can hang out. You have spurred me on to create like no other. Though Gina Deluca inspired me to do acrylic pours. With you I produce art everyday now. Thank you, my dear friend Noit!
I have wanted to try the wax accents but I am on a fixed income I love your idea and will try it. Thank You for taking time out of your day to share this with us
I HAVE ENJOYED THIS SO MUCH. I WAS LOOKING INTO BUYING SOME OF THE WAX, BUT IT WAS TOO PRICEY . THAT YOU . YOU SAVED ME SOME MONEY AND I CAN STILL DO MY CRAFT. THANK YOU AGAIN.
This is fabulous! I too was shopping online to buy some and it is so pricey. I have coconut oil already and I think I have oil pastels as well. Thank you so much for sharing all your tips.
I look at all the crafters using expensive products and I just cannot afford it.This is a great option for colors I want to use. Thanks for discovering this and the results look good to me.
Wonderful idea! Thank you for coming up with such clever affordable ideas for art supplies! it would be useful to know how well this holds up in your art journal over time.....i REALLY enjoy your channel!
OMG you are amazing....I so appreciate all your creativity that you share with us.....this will save me money so I can enjoy the craft without spending even more money than I need to....I enjoy everything you do.....God Bless and thank you
Great job. I dont think we get those oil pastels in our dollar stores but I will search for them. This is fun. Love how you made your own metallic paste.
Great idea, DIYing supplies is so much fun. Consider making smaller amounts of each colour as coconut oil will go rancid over time. That way you use up what you have before you may have to toss it. And sealing it is definitely a good idea for the same reason. Even the commercial metallic waxes can mold and end up getting tossed.
Noit, that’s so awesome and fantastic. It’s really really great 👍 because I really don’t want to pay for the expensive gilding wax, when I can use your recipe. Thank you so much your so awesome and clever xxx Mags
Noit, you are quite the chemist! It seems like there are many uses for coconut oil but yours is the most clever! I wonder if the same melting and mixing could be done, using a low power in a microwave and small glass bowls or dishes? I also love the look of the texture paste covered with black gesso. Thanks for sharing these ideas with us. They are much appreciated, believe me. :-)
I can’t wait to give this a try. Also, I loved the box with the heart on top. You mentioned you didn’t film that, but is there any chance you could recreate that on film? I would love love love to learn how to do that. Love all of your work and your channel. Thank you for sharing your talent and creativity. 😍
Спасибо вам большое! Вы просто выручили меня , ведь купить пасты разных цветов дорого , а теперь я сделаю разные оттенки . Большой привет вам из России.Остаюсь вашей подписчицей и буду всегда смотреть ваши видео !
I simply use Annie Sloan clear furniture wax and pearl ex pigment powder. Works like a charm. You could use any high pigment powder, old eye shadow or whatever you have.
Oh, thank you, thank you, thank you! These have been on my wish list and l had given up on ever affording them. I have the ingredients already for this alternative. Brilliant!
