    Hey Guys It’s Joel!
    The BMW Z4M Roadster is seriously scary to drive in the wet!
    I promise you that behind my face of pure concentration and partial fear, I was smiling away. The Z4M Roadster is a tremendously fun car to drive & I feel very privileged to be able to add it to my ever growing list of cars I’ve driven! Make sure to give the video a thumbs up if you’d like to see me have another go when the sun comes out!
    Nonetheless, I’m pleased to let you know that there’s more videos with this BMW Z4M Roadster coming very soon to It's Joel.
    Thanks for Watching!

    Well done Joel dude. I'm really pleased the first one in the series has come out so well. It was actually a really enjoyably day for me, the long drive down to you and back home was really great, as I got to do a long trip in the car and really stretch it's legs. Was a pleasure chatting with you and your dad. Seems we share a similar sort of history with the types/makes of cars we've previously owned.
    With regards to the gearbox, I am lead to believe that the clutch delay valve is the reason why it's so tricky dealing with 1st and 2nd gears. When the car is cold, I find 2nd gear to be an absolute pig to get a really smooth change. Once it's warmed up, the box does feel ten times better. The rather ironic things is, the harder and more aggressive you try and change gear, the easier and smoother it is to use.
    One thing Joel and I were talking about a fair bit was if you could indeed daily my E85 M. It's for sure possible, but I personally think in weather conditions like we are experiencing here in the UK this week, it would just be so draining if you had to spend any length of time behind the wheel each morning. It's a car that does need to be respected (like all BMW's really) as it's so easy to lose the back end, even with the stability control on.
    I've been really looking forward to seeing the videos Joel has put together using my car, as it was watching some of his videos late last year, that helped me make my mind up to actually get myself a Z4M. I actually only got this car in late November last year and I've only managed to cover about 1100 miles in it so far. If anyone of Joel's subscribers is thinking about getting a Z4 here in the UK, there are two very good forums. One is the Z4-Forum and the other is ZRoadster, which is for all of BMW's "Z" cars. Both forums have been very welcoming and have managed to give me some really sound advice and information in regards to owning a Z4M.
    One thing I can't stress to people who want one of these enough, is that while you may be able to afford to buy one (mine was priced at just under £11,000) , you are still going to need a fair bit of cash tucked away to actually run one of these. These cars need to be looked after properly, as the S54 can be very expensive to fix if anything goes wrong. My dad owned an E46 M3 Cab until late last summer. The previous owner had really neglected to look after the car properly and he ended up with several thousands of pounds worth of parts and labour to fix a whole number of issues, including a totally new VANOS.
    It was about a 140-150 mile round trip for me to do on the day and that used half a tank, yet in the 4ish hours I let Joel film with the car, we managed to get through another 1/4 tank and that was with him taking it very cautiously due to just how bloody wet it was on the roads. Once you hit the last 1/4 of a tank, the low fuel warning light comes on, warning the driver you only have 50 miles range left in the tank!
    If you're a youngish driver like Joel, don't for a minuet feel like that anything other than the M will do. I have had other Z4 forum members say the 3.0 like Joel's is "75% of the performance with 50% of the running costs". The only reason why I went for the M over the 3.0, was my previous car was a heavily modified Subaru Impreza P1, with 323bhp and 330lbt , which meant for me, that the 3.0 wouldn't be quick enough. This attitude is/was wrong, as on the way to the filming locations, as I was following Joel, I was having to step on it pretty bloody quick, otherwise he could easily get away from me. (yeah I am also admitting that Joel is a quicker driver than me lol) .

      Dan Allnatt dude.
      Absolutely love the car. And previously like your dad. I used to have an e46 M3 but now own a z4m. The Z is noticeable better in every aspect than the M3.
      Apart from the space. Which I am now in need of. So considering to sell the ZM.

    • @FelixIsMyName
      @FelixIsMyName 5 років тому +1

      @@halulapaluza My dad had an 04-06 Individual, that had about £23,000 worth of extras when new. Sadly, the previous owner was a bit of a twat and he ran the car on a shoestring, which left dad with so many problems that would always end up leading to big bills.
      He is really bad for having a posers car (his own words) so he went with a Cab with the SMG gearbox. It had an after market system, I think it was just the back-box that was done, which made it pretty beefy sounding. The amount of rattles and noises it would make was pretty dramatic and overall, it just didn't feel that tightly put together, yet it only had around 60,000 miles on the clock.
      Even though my Z4M has 97,000 miles on the clock, it feels so tight and well put together, so much so that my dad keeps repeating over and over, just how sorted my Z4M is. He even claims it's more well put together than his current 2015 Merc C-Class 4 door 2.0.
      I'm a bit over 6.4" and have a number of spinal problems and injuries, that had forced me to stop driving for a few years. This Z4M is the first time since 2015/16 that I've had my own car again. Due to my height, when I would have the seat in what was my typical driving position, I was unable to see the instrument cluster due to the thickness of the rim on the steering wheel. The solution I found, was to recline the back of the seat way more than I have ever done for driving the car. Suddenly, I had found a position that let me see clearly all round, but the best bit was it took any compression of my lower back and has allowed me to drive for way longer than I ever thought possible (I'm waiting to have some major spinal surgery later this year), as I can typically only managed 25 minuets sat in any chair. The sports seats in my Z4M give perfect support on the sides of my back. I've been impressed just how easily my Z4M can handle longer distances on the Motorway and if I keep an eye on things, do over 30MPG!

    Nice work once again! However there are a few errors in your review. The steering rack ratio on the Z4M coupe is slightly quicker than the cabrio- 12.8 to 1 vs 13.7. Also the airbox you mention is the carbon Evolve not revolve. Finally the sport button only affects the throttle pedal action. Sorry to be so critical but we have to keep the facts straight. Good narration and review!

By some stroke of luck, I found this car just 16 miles away from my home, at a small dealership that gets a lot of cult cars for sale. I'm actually only the 3rd owner of this Z4M and it's got so much paperwork/history.

      @@Cornwall1888 Prices in general for M cars is steadily on the rise. My E85 Z4M in the video was listed for just under £11,000 , get if it was an E86 Z4M Coupe, you would be looking at roughly £18,000 to £22,000 for the same spec and condition.
      When I was looking at cars back in Nov last year, most of the E85 Z4M Roadsters listed were all roughly around £10,000 to £12,000 , there were two E85 Alpina Roadsters up for sale at about £14,000 to £16,000 and there handful of E86 Z4M Coupes were going for the above mentioned £18,000+ . If I was able to afford an E86 Z4M Coupe, I would have gotten one in a flash, as I think they look amazing with that long sloping rear section.

    • @FelixIsMyName
      @FelixIsMyName 5 років тому

      I personally found the sports seats in my M are more comfortable than the comfort seats that Joel's 3.0 has. While Joel was filming each segment with my M, I was sat in his 3.0 browsing the net on my phone. I suffer with a number of lower back injuries, involving the joints and nerves of my lumbar section. I've was able to do he 2 hour drive to Joel's in the M, without the slightest problem. Even after the days filming, the drive back home didn't cause me any comfort issues.
      The Sport seats are really supportive, which you really need when you get on it, as the M really picks up speed effortlessly. Even if you don't have an M, I think the sports seats are pretty much a must have in any of the E85/86 models.

      By the way you need to take care of your car a little bit like some new wheels 19´ and a JDM spoiler and it will be better looking than the M version
      Nice video

      It's actually my car in the video. I had gotten in touch with Joel late last year, as I had only bought the car in late November. It was coming across a number of Joel's videos that helped me decide on the Z4, rather than an Alpina B3 and a Honda S2000

    Who the heck cares about sound, man? It's whether it runs hard and connects with one's driving desires.
