Thanks for all the free education ;-) I tried something new this week. I don't have a vibe table yet and some of my plaque molds require a dry mix that hold a concave shape (to keep weight down) and as a result I get many bubbles that I have to fill in later with a concrete paste. This time I mixed up a very wet almost pure cement slurry (just a bit of fine sand) and poured it first just as an outside coat. After 10 minutes I applied the stiff mix. It worked very well, ALL the detail and smooth, smooth, smooth.
Yeah Gaffster, That's good ,quite a few folks do that ,we refer to it as a slurry coat, very effective.I don't just for the sheer fact of the volume I pour,but it works for many so enjoy the bug hole free experience lol
Hi Gris, I need a recommenDation of the brand of rubber you are using or the latex brand you use that is heavy duty to cast little objects without the fiberglass casing. I don’t want to go to all the work of thirty coats, only to have it rip. Thank you
I learned to make leaves from you. Make nice Rhubarb. Would luv to do Gunnera..I live in IL. zone 6..Could you make a mold for me Please. I luv the floating leaf..Your TEACHING is awesome..I'm rolling more wet newspaper tubes!.

Morning Tom , lol oh the burden you've put on me now hahaha! Yes the store stays open through the winter, when the snows flying ,sometimes you wonder why? We do try and take extra time off in the winter ,even shut down for three weeks and get away somewhere tropical.Busy time is creeping up quick .
