@@JohnoWells oh man. Thats sooooo cool. I was not happy with the multisampling direct with the modul. I was searching for a alternativ for a few weeks. Couldn‘t find something until i saw your video. I‘m so happy… 🤜🤜😎😎
If anyone is having trouble multi-sampling Arturia plugins, I have found that if own an Touche Expressive E/sE, it came with a VST plugin called "Lie" [ which hosted a selected VST within itself & allowed MPE mapping to what ever VST parameters you needed ]. Selecting the Lie plugin within Bliss 2.3 and then choosing an Arturia plugin from within there allows the multi-sampling to function correctly.
I'm testing out the demo right now just to make sure it will sample Arturia plugins now since people were having problems with it before. Good news is that I get samples from my collection which is awesome. Do you have any tips on the settings for an instrument that will play forever until you lift off the note, like a Mellotron? Should I just do a crazy long duration time like 10 seconds or so just to make sure I won't run out or am I missing something with the looping cuz every time I've tried it will still just give me the duration I set but only play once, won't loop around again.
@JohnoWells Great, thorough vid! I was wondering what the benefit to sampling VST's into Bliss is, over using the auto sampling algorithm on the Disting Ex? Is there a significant difference in sound quality? I'll likely spring for Bliss eventually, but not ready to drop $99 at this moment.
Greetings! As I mentioned in the video, the sheer speed of being able to multi-sample in Bliss as well as the ability to keep it all in the digital domain with a VST into Bliss is the game changer for me. Well worth the $99.
@@JohnoWells Ah, thanks, I watched a while back...just re-watched and seeing that's a major point. Purchased Bliss and sampled my first library, but the samples are sounding gargled when loaded on the Disting, so have to play w/ the settings I guess (strange bc the wavs sound great previewed on mac).
@@JohnoWells Yes, distorted and choppy. Think I followed your settings, but will double check. It could have to do with note length/overlap, as the notes are more likely to be clean if they are struck and allowed to fully decay. Hit in succession is a mess!
Disting EX multisamples hardware really smoothly. It's not as fast as sampling from VST's, for sure, but it works well. I've tried it on a few friends' polysynths and it was a good experience.
The guys at discoDSP who make Bliss have been working on 2.0 and are up to Beta5, this might be the perfect time to reach out to them to see what they can update regarding presets and file naming before they push out a final release? Thanks for the tutorial that opens up a new use of Bliss for me :)
Hey there---thanks for checking this out. I worked with Disco DSP this past summer to get 2.0 to the file naming that might be close to working with Os's python script. It might be closer now, but at the time--the betas they were sending me were not happening for this use case. We'll have to see.
Curious, how does EX compare to Assimil8or in terms of sound/fidelity in your opinion? I’m sure you’re not using A8 for VST samples so might be hard to compare
A8 sounds better but its not as easy to set up. You have to Midi2CV each voice for poly and theres a modwiggler post about it. Not much sounds as amazing as the A8.
@@reef5651 thanks for the reply. i guess as anything poly in eurorack goes... but as far as the sound-- it sounds like worth the trouble! someday surely...
Multisampling in the Assimil8or isn't possible, so it's not something I can compare really. Sound wise--I dunno....it really depends on what you're coming in with. I never felt the ass8 sounded SO GREAT. It sounded like what I was putting on it. Sorry, kind of a useless answer LOLOL

Glad Os answered your question. To echo his answer---no, Bliss isn't the only way into the multisample world of the Disting EX. This module continues to have a solid position in almost everything I do. Almost. LOL.
