I'm 65.. Raised on ..Doors... Early Stones...Carlos...Neil....And yep... "The END".Stoked to of had an older brother who introduced me to this life long tunes.
My dad introduced me to The Doors as a kid. He was an intellectual, a poet, a film buff, and a Vietnam vet who had more love for that band than anyone else I've ever known in my life. I'm forever grateful that my dad introduced me to The Doors; and my love for this band is always with me. I'm so glad I got to see Robbie Krieger and his band; at "The Galaxy" in St. Louis back in the day. Yeah, it wasn't "The Doors" but it was still a great show; and I'm very grateful that I got to witness it
Cool. Had the Extremely Great Pleasure of seeing Rob and Ray at a small venue in Vegas called wasted space in the "hard Rock casino" was appreciative and fulfilled. Always wished they had gotten another singer instead of the path they took. (Happens) Was pissed couldn't find any weed, but Plenty of HEINEKENS. Kinda funny that I have Such a awesome LOVE of Band, but never liked that cheesy #1 " hit.
Feels like most don’t know or appreciate that this band, in its entirety, only lasted from 1967-1971, and are rightfully considered one of the best ever. Pretty insane when you think about it.
Why would a band that terrific ever bother listening to critics?? I was in a band in LA back in the mid 70's and we played outside at a Bar.Mitzvah party in Beverly Hills. During a break we heard the kids saying: Uncle Robbie is playing his acoustic in the library! So we checked it out and it was Robbie Krieger. We talked him into playing with us and we had a Gibson SG...The guitar he loved. We rocked the place out playing Doors songs and the kids just loved it! They were too young to have ever seen the Doors live so it was a special treat for all of us for those youths to see and hear Uncle Robbie jamming on stage!!
I was conceived during this time period and The Doors seem to be in my blood. Jim was way ahead of his time and a true poet and was his own man. The music will never get old only keep relevant. Hello I love you...... I loved from a young kid xxx
The doors were the perfect all American group of the late 60s perfect music members perfect unique style most perfect original vocalist everything was just right the combination. Melodies songs ...the singing l just get a bit emotional how many of their songs really touched me!!bless them all ❤😊
I’ve been into them since I was a teenager in the ‘80’s - I’m 56 now. Great band, great music - especially the first album, Strange Days and Morrison Hotel.
maybe. Except when he was an Obnoxious Drunk! Jim always maintained that an Indian shaman had entered him after the family had driven by an accident on the highway. Who knows, just know that booz can really F' ..K people-up! Especially it seems OUR Fellow brothers and sisters of the Indian population, unfortunately.
what an amazing voice Jim had - despite his antics and always pushing the envelope everywhere he went there's been no frontman other than maybe Roger Daltrey that had that primal scream and magnetic stage presence..The Doors were an amalgam of so many influences that coalesced into something so raw, artistic & unique - nothing like them anywhere before or since.luv em
One of the best original bands to come out of the USA imo. I recall my first solo back pack travels through Europe and visited the Paris cemetery where Jim Morrison's grave is. Initially I planned to see the grave sites of Chopin, Proust and Oscar Wilde etc. Didnt realise the resting place of Jim Morrison was in the same cemetery.
A vast radiant beach and a cool jeweled moon, couples naked raced down by it's quite side and we laughed like soft mad children smug in the woolly cotton brains of infancy, the music and voices were all around us ✌🏽♥️
As crazy as this may sound, had Frank Sinatra done a cover version of 'Riders on the Storm' the similarities in his and Morrison's singing voices would have been startling.
Crazy works sometimes.Anger is an energy. Frank saw thru the Kennedy shamalot after he had helped him get Elected.(With a little help from his ginzo friends!)

I remember watching the first song on this video, Light my fire on The Ed Sullivan show on TV. I was probably all of 8yrs old, but my older brother pointed out Robbies black eye and the fact that Jim sang the word "higher" even though we knew they censored a lot of different rock groups on that show at that time... Robbies smile says it all. *pfft - I was six Lol it feels like yesterday.
The Doors at the Hollywood Bowl is one of the coolest and musically interesting concert watches. Excellent blend of a band improvising and a mysterious storyteller sometimes haunting and sometimes just funny.
Jim was called Bozo Dionysus by one critic. He could be a clown but also serious and moody guy who’s poetic words could be haunting at times. He also could shout like a Bluesman and shock the audience. In addition, he was a great Crooner as well! 🤘🏻✊🏻👏🏻
What even are these documentaries? I’ve been watching them for years on here but I never know who any of the ppl are or why they’re doing it lol. They used to be called Band X “Under Review”. It’s usually just a bunch of British guys talking about whatever the band of the day is, but the endless amount of them got me wondering about it. Was it part of a series or something?
Everyone has told me for years that I'm the splitting image of a young Jim Morrison. I have to admit that I've always had the looks, voice, and charisma that the original Morrison possessed. When it comes to the chicks, I literally have to beat them off with a stick which has led to numerous assault charges over the years. When it comes to alcohol, I drink it like water. However, the high alcohol consumption merely makes me more creative than I already am which makes me slightly different than the original Morrison in that respect. Anyway, I'm thinking of starting a band to showcase my talents to the public. I may call the band The Lizard Kings or something equally creative.
I hated just hated Oliver Stoned” The Doors film ! It showed Jim only as the star as a drunk druggie massacre! According to Ray and his other band mates sure he did drugs and drink, but he was brilliant, funny liked kids yes!) was actually shy without substances in the beginning,, I nearly walked out in disgust! 😢RIP JIM I’m so sorry they did end up making you a puppet for coin.
Ex-F..King-actly! The Stone man has more good points than bad, but he missed the boat on that moonlight drive. But that's Hollywood. Jim was ROCK ROYALTY Dethroned by the PIGS in YA-HOO Town Florida.
Jim had such a great voice, a true gift. Was a shame he pretty much self imploded though and passed at such a young age. Never had a chance to see them since I was in diapers around 67’ heh….
They had problem ‘light my fire’ and radio. They cut both guitar and keyboard solo (everyone was like f*’* you!) Except Jim Morrison? (Ironic) No one wanted to cut the solos out of the single until Jim said “ Imagine some kid in Connecticut hearing the cut version for the first time’ his head completely spun around. They cut it.
Well I guess they actually were the best USA had at the time when you think about it. They were so entirely unique really except some of the psychedelic music tricks.
Look who the dads are in just about every band from the past you will see how they got fame and fortune...... The Doors were very intelligent and jim faked his deat h
20:26 "I think the men when watching him perform had no idea what he was talking about, But the women knew what he was talking about". WHAT?? Is he serious?? When I heard the song for the first time back in the 1980's (When I got into my Morrison phase lol) I knew the two ideas that were inferred right off. So why wouldn't everyone?? The two ideas being Anal sex or the guy sneaking in the back door of the home for the wife or girlfriend. Explanation is just in case that guy is right and men just don't understand ANYTHING LOL.
Another tortured poet. Suffering for his art. P.s. i heard janice joplin hit him over the head with a bottle of osputhern comfort. Ha ha. What a girl. Ehat a story. From n.z.❤ kayl.
They never talk about ‘Morrison lament’ with Jimi Hendrix. I don’t think Hendrix had anything to do with it. Jimi plays guitar but nothing special ,just background. It’s a jam session big party going on.. Someone recorded it. You hear conversations background. Then Jimi says yeah” that one.. reffering to the microphone morrison was about use. Morrison begins “TURN AROUND AND (blank) HER IN THE ASS. Morrison repeats over and over. Morrison’s expression . Quality, the way Morrison delivers it wasted
Recorded in 2 weeks?? So what. Beatles first album was done in 13 hours. 10x better than any doors album. The next 3 albums by the Beatles were done in less than 2 weeks. All better than any Doors albums. So congratulations you made an album in 2 weeks. 4 years too late.

Robbie seems laid back from what I've seen of him in videos of him recently and from the 60's and 70's and so on 😊
I`m reading Robbie`s book right now. I`m 60% through it.
Bitchen!
Uncle Robby. Man, that’s the coolest story I’ve heard in a long time. That’s awesome.
Because your suppose to listen to the ogs dumby, they were from the streets not a nerd that thinks he knows everything like you

Best band ever, period ❤
Nothin' or Nobody can rival the LED ZEPPELIN LEGEND! But hey, Everyone's got an opinion. 1 thing we can agree on is that they Left us Away Too Soon!
I love them for doing their own thing and being original.
Jim Morrison the master shaman, best most handsome singer in the world. Love The Doors. Love Jim!

Break On Through is my favorite and most underrated rock song of all time. It doesn’t get better than Break On Through.
Mine as well !
This music drew me in when I was a young kid in the 60s, This video is off the scale. Many thanks Jim and the Doors.
After John Lennon Jim became my hero and stayed that way the rest of my teenage life. Still is as the soundtrack to my life plays on
My older brother had a Doors cover band! I was like, 5-6 yrs old. My Doors introduction! Still love them . The spirit of the shaman lives on!🔮
Waiting for the sun imo is one of their best songs and 20th century fox, this documentary could have been 5 hours long actually
Hell yeah!

Forever a fan , a fan Forever Jim,Ray,John and Robbie 🎉
Me too. John not so much. He sued Rob+Ray so they couldn't perform under the title of THE DOORS.
"Break on trough" best introduction song in an album ever, and how the guy says "..is the essence of Doors". What else?
Thanks, enjoyed that.

John densmore making the tambourine sound like a rattle snake on’ the end’ ❤
What a band. I never realized how good Jim's pitch was, for an untrained singer.
They had so much more to give you can just tell if he had lived they wouldn’t have continued to create great music
Most Excellent ¿

Next to Pearl Jam….The Doors are my ask time most favorite band ever!!!
Please don't homogenize this with that commercial p.jelly.
I think more of there songs from there albums were on the radio more then any other band except tor maybe the Beatles so many really good songs
AI Jim doesn't look like Jim at all. Tech No Logic fails at capturing a human essence that doesn't want to be caught. Stay Free Jim!

too bad it stops at waiting for the sun..
I agree, although an increadible album, i personally think the Soft Parade was their masterpeace.
@@brianstallard5720 Love The Soft Parade

There r things known and there r things unknown.? And in between there r The Doors
feels like half a documentary tbh, ok for people new to the doors or a passing interest.
do NOT show Jim Morrison the way to the next Whiskey Bar.

The Doors were greatly influenced by Joy Division.
Got into them late. 1991 due to the release of the kilmer movie. Until then I had never heard of them as they weren't as big in the UK.

Only 21 bass players…. Not very good documentary 😊
'The Monkees' blew them out the doors in the 60's. Morrison was an amature compared to Davey Jones as a frontman.
