I was really looking forward seeing (hearing!) Sarah's involuntary appreciation of Harry as Rick and Andy teased her so hard about it. Should have left some of them in for added entertainment 😂
what an awesome guy! didn't even feel like a "guest" it was all very natural. i enjoyed this one and what a throw back to mcfly, might have to download a few songs again lol
That statement: "That level of perfectionism that is always out of reach; there's always an itch to scratch". Sarah, this is so well put. This is exactly why, once I got out for a run a couple of years ago, I haven't looked back. I have put so much work into improving my fitness and every pb is such a great personal achievement, but is always met with a "what next". I almost feel sorry for my future self when it's just age that prevents it, not the total lack of care I've taken for my body thus far.
These RCMs are really knocking it out of the park. Harry is a natural-born guest--you three hit it off like you've known each other forever. Such a delightful listen--and great motivation before today's run.🙌
@@runningchannel Oh gosh, folks: I'm in California, so members of my community can't pop into the TRC studios for a chat--alas.😉That said, I think it'd be interesting to bring in someone who came to running from a completely different sport--powerlifting, say, or ice hockey, or WHATEVER--and fell in love nonetheless. Running's for everyone, right?😃Just an off-the-top-of-the-head thought.🙌
This podcast has taught me two things. Firstly, McFly had a drummer? I thought they were just a boy band lols! Secondly, I miss this set. Think it's just better layout, and like the screen on Rick's desk. But yeah, very enjoyable chat, as always. Thanks TRC
I think the comment around “ the backbone” is spot on. You can hang a lot of life off good sleep, nutrition and regular running regardless of wider goals
Harry's relationship with running is almost identical to mine. Enjoyed running but no concept of training plans or how to improve, just went out and tried to smash every run, would quickly get injured and give up. The idea of polarised training got into my head very very slowly, it makes me wonder what else I am blindingly ignorant to. I've now been running 5 days a week consistently for 18 months, a few injuries but getting better at getting them sorted before they become serious. Entered for my first marathon next April.
32:45 I think this gets underestimated. This shows kids that being active and sportive is a normal lifestyle. The kids are beeing brought up with the image that running is the norm and a valid pastime. Its so important.
Sorry you feel that way, we haven’t actually posted a marathon piece of content in over 50 days but we will make sure this is thought about going forward
@@runningchannel did not mean any disrespect, love what you guys do. i have just noticed when im binging your content it is a lot of longer distance discussion and i’d love to see you guys make some more content around middle distance, especially with andy being such a great resource for that. much love
Great interview, but............. plenty of people "really into running" have zero interest in the torture that is a marathon training block, where you get injuries like shin splints! I see far too many novice runners being told they need to run a marathon. Folks who were couch to 5k just the previous year. There is a lot of this nonsense out there. Great for you if you want to run marathons, smash it, but please leave the rest of us out of it and trust me folks, you are still a real runner if you don't run an arbitrary number that is what it because there was a royal box in a stadium at one particular olympics! (Rant over - keep up the great work that you do)
Never heard of him either, nor the band, but i did enjoy the interview a lot : good chemistry between the group, interesting guy, fun. Thanks a lot to TRC team !
Kudos to the editor managing to cut out Sarahs involuntary sighs every 30 seconds from being in the same room as Harry
Who?

This is gold. I dont even know him but he made the usual runners journey in record time due to having a coach :D
I didn't think I could be more in love with this guy more

Sarah's enjoying this one. No idea why. :)

Great video. What a nice guy and his enthusiasm for running was great to listen to
He was so nice in real life so we are glad that has come across in the podcast!

This was SO fun to watch. Came for the banter, and you did not disappoint! :)
I wonder if Harry has The last Man on Earth by Rick Kelsey, on his playlist?
Hahaha he should!!
Very good video.
Looking at Sarah's eyes they didn't need any spotlight for this vidéo....
I love Sarah's learn or win (aka SLOW)
Yes Harry!!!

So so true, can't do much without a good night sleep!
This video makes me so happy 🙃🙃❤
This guy is a runner’s runner. Should add him to the crew for an occasional guest appearance.
What a nice bloke.
I’ve never seen Sarah so happy to do an interview…..
Yeah she is still smiling about it now

Sarah, come to Fredericton, New Brunswick to qualify for Boston!
I wonder if Harry uses Strava’s McFlyby?!

This was so much fun!
ah glad you enjoyed it!
Never retire from running, Harry. There's always 50 and 100 mile ultramarathons to conquer
Listened to it earlier, great Pod 👍
Thanks for listening! Glad you liked it 🤣
would be nice to see some more content around aspects of running other than marathons. sorta becoming the marathon channel
Sorry you feel that way, we haven’t actually posted a marathon piece of content in over 50 days but we will make sure this is thought about going forward
They really do a lot of other distances from 5k to 24 hour runs, but of course the marathon wil be there as it is an iconic distance.

Love mcfly and the industry hard to like be healthy in so go him ❤
Fantastic listen
Many thanks!
first? think this video will be a good one
nailed it! You are first 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
I'm surprised you didn't ask if he'd ever try an ultra
Marathon is the ultimate?? He has never heard of ultras?
James would agree 😂

I've never heard of this man or the band McFly, had to google them, didn't sound familiar.
But a great story no?

@@runningchannel Don't know didn't watch the video to the end. I was expecting a(n) (international) celebrity, I guess.

This guy is so funny. He should be doing stand up comedy instead of drumming! Sarah totally smitten, and rick 😂
McRun
Hahaha yes!
