Elfo's dad seemed to panic a little when Luci told him Elfo and Beanie had gone to the Ogre's homeland which also ties into a point another commenter made about the Ogre Queen possibly being Elfo's mum. That paired with the fact Elfo's dad said he "Liked big women" in the first season makes that theory sound quite convincing ☺
That would also make Elfo a prince.
Also the queen freaked out when she heard Elfo’s name, but she didn’t have the chance to say anything.
Also the way elfo's dad emphasize big I can hint that the queen is his mom and his dad probably named him elfo as a way for the other elves to not find out that he's half ogre
That's what we thought to when we first saw it.
Couldn't have said it better. ^^ Plus, I noticed that Elfo's nose is different from all the other elves nose - and yet, the Ogre Queen has the exact same nose.
Nothing to say about the ogre queen recognizing Elfo's name when she hears it? Seemingly implying she knows who he is and maybe his mother?

That's what I thought, too.
For all we know ogres can't die that quickly and we also know that Elves die quickly or atleast implying they don't know how other creatures live or just plainly saying their naive. So Elfo's dad probably thought that she was dead but turned out to be fine just a few minutes later OR she may know the mother of Elfo because it's her sister or something amd since an Elf has killed someone close to her she is now willing to wage war against the elves...

AGREED and my biggest hope for this season was that they would expand on the supporting characters. Very excited with where they've taken Derek so far

I love this series. Finally something really adult from Groening. looking at all three series of him. I think Simpsons is the worst, Futurama is really good but Disenchantment is really awesome ^^

Elfo’s mom is the ogre queen
I totally missed this stuff on my first watch and feel real dumb about it. I must have been distracted during that episode

You missed that the oger queen seemed to regonized the name Elfo...and Elfo does have a pig nose like her. And the reason the king will be ok is cause of what bean did
I definitely missed the Elfo Ogre stuff! And I know that Bean pulled the bullet out of Zog to save him, but they’ve still done a lot of death fake outs!

Una becoming the pirate captain was pretty awesome. Also Bean realising she can channel her trauma through writing was my favourite moment. Unrelated, but Johnny's hair look pretty epic.

My favorite joke was Lucy asking Bean if she gained weight to which she quietly responded "numbers don't matter."
Kind of a slow burn but got a hearty laugh from me once it clicked.

As a writer, I loved the "In her own Write" for all the self-deprecating jokes and other meta humor the writer made.
I thought it was incredibly sad that Bean is put on trial for witchcraft when the male wizard Sorcerio is perfectly legal.
I mean, keeping a talking cat around is just unnatural.
theres also two witches from the first season that they not only let live, but ask for help when looking for the amulet
They mentioned in the last episode that Elfo has a weird nose and green skin (and that’s apparently unusually for elves), and then the albino elves all have his same nose, so I’m thinking Elfo’s mom is an underground elf, which is also “that very thing” the elf king is looking for.
Basically, all mysteries lead to that final room. So excited to see it all explained next season!
The albino elves are called trogs
And elfos dad said that love for big women runs in the family cause elfo likes bean so he is prob either half ogre or human
The thing that bothered me was, they have an immortality pendant that can bring even the long dead back to life. (And plenty of elves now.) Why would King Zog dying be even an issue?
i have a feeling this is intentional, and the "immortality" pendant isnt what we think...

I am surprised that they didnt bring back up that the ogre queen recognising Elfo's name. It's a weird detail to bring up if it's not important, which is why I think she is Elfo's mother
I honestly totally missed it and feel real dumb about it!
I remember one of those creepy Albino Elf thingies hiding in the shadows in the dungeon in Season one, in the Final episode. Seeing it, I was thinking, "Wait, did I see that? it's not in the same style as the rest of the show so far..."
In the same vein, did you see how the flames, just before Bean and friends went into the tunnels, erupted and for a brief glimpse, you could see Queen Dagmar's face?
You totally nailed it. I was missing something when I finished watching. I liked the characters more, the world building, etc. But you were right, where's the comedy? Lol

this show became my new obsession and I've lost count of how many times I watched this show on repeat. I just really love that something new with the same style animation of Futurama and with the same potential is out

I’m binge watching all of these and wow… I started watching your channel pretty recently starting with your bojack content. I always used to think all adult animations were childish and not entertaining to me but your videos are so interesting and I love listening you talk about all these shows and the deeper layers!
I'm not sure if anyone noticed, when the fire roared right before Bean and the gang fell into the ground on the last episode, it showed a face that looked like Dagmar.

I didn't notice when I watched but I got a few comments about it! Great detail, I might try to do a video breaking down all we know about Dagmar's strange magic
That is hella spooky! They imply Bean and her mother have Magic right?
"In her own write" is actually my favorite episode, maybe it is because I write myself, but I think it was one of the most funny and pretty relatable by times.
Also I think Dagma that Dagmar didn't die in the flames is an reference to the Targaryens from Game of thrones, witch you can see throughout the first episode with there silver hair and there inherit madness that gets mentioned. (Also Maru looks a lot like Mareen and I believe I have seen dragons there)
Exactly the same feeling with "In Her Own Write". All the jokes about the writing process are so great.
yeah and Derek is a bit like Tommen or Joffrey , as Zog also reminds me of Robert

Alright I'm back and finished part two as well as your video. Gotta say I agree, there was so much more that was done well with the second part. So many more characters explored and mysteries set and answered, kinda. I don't mind the death fakeouts so much, as long as it doesn't become too rampant. Also because sometimes it makes sense for them not to die, or not die immediately in Jerry's case. Like King Zog is obviously gonna get better now that the bullet's been removed from him, and I don't see why Elfo's dad wouldn't make it considering he was administered the medicine and the only reason we believe he's gonna die is because he says he's about to die, but for all we know he was lying like Elfo says he always does, or he could just not know how close he is to death. I also don't mind Jerry's initial death fakeout because I mean the guy's taken a crown being bolted into his skull and lived; why would a hammer whack immediately kill him, he's a tough dude. And in Elfo's case it just makes sense to keep him alive cuz he has so much potential with the plot and the show is still kind of in its early stages. Same goes for Zog, it doesn't make sense to get rid of him now when there's still so much potential with his character.
Also the bit about hinting at Elfo's mom's identity, if you pay attention as him and Bean are escaping the land of the ogres, the queen ogre seems to recognize Elfo's name. My theory is that either she's his mom or she knows his mom.
And last but not least I loved the reference to Futurama with the "bite my shiny metal axe" line, so I wanted to point out another reference to Futurama. When Bean is in Steamland she gets a ride from a stranger and asks then to take her to "Farnsworth boulevard." Can't wait to see any other references and water eggs I've missed so far. :)
Elf's came to Dreamland to find the potion that makes them big so they can take over the kigndom
i was under the impresstion that it was elf blood and that it was some lost tribe of elves that were used by the old in habatants of dream land
I really like to think that disenchantment takes place while fry is in the cryo tank. I thought this from the beginning, but steamland reinforced this idea dor me.
I love your reviews. Particularly how you summarise each single episode and then evaluate them in context. (I tend to forget what happened in specific episodes after an entire season, so this helps me a lot.) ^^
Personally, I'm actually impressed how Disenchantment manages yet again to stay a tad above mediocrity. Just like after part 1, I would shed a tear if I never saw the next part, yet I'd still very much welcome it once it releases. Or in other words: I do enjoy this show, but I can't say I'm a fan.

I think elfos mom is the Queen of the ogres Because as elfo and bean leave The Valley of the ogres The Queen shows them a secret passage Right before they leave bean says elfo to elfo and the queen said "elfo?" As if she heard that name before
Great vids! I notice that the opening animation sequence foreshadows some of the storylines. In ep.1 part 1 you see the city of "Hell", and in ep.1 part 2 you see a messenger Turkey running its delivery that Odval and Oona sent at the end of ep.10 part 1...wonder if the Dankmirians will come into part 3 as a force to reckon with. We shall see. .
The fake out death is also a problem in supernatural the main characters have died 137 times in the show and there still alive

I just finished season 2 and your video came out just in time. I basically rewatch season 1 to binge watch season 2. I think S2 is far better than 1 on the plot.
I really thought Bean was gonna find happiness and stay in steam land and Lucy and Elfo would go searching for her.
Part II. is so much better than Part I. I Love Oona, she's funny and awesome, plus Elfo is less irritating.

Luci tells Elfo's father they went to get the cure from the ogres he freaks out implying he was lying about Elfo's mother being dead and It's most likely Elfo's mother is the Ogre Queen because not only does she help Bean and Elfo escape she seems to recognizes Elfo's name also it would help to explain the badassness we see him display through the entire episode

You did not speak about the strange thing find livo on a stone in the underground ( he takes a treasure map...). It might be linked with the talk between livo and the elf king and also pergaps with the strange dark elves we see at the end
I kinda wish the episodes were more stand alone. Maybe do a more loose story telling like Rick & Morty. Also, Steamland was my favorite. The change of setting was refreshing.
The jokes just still aren't landing for me (it's like they tell you their going to tell a joke before they do) not to mention when they mention modern stuff it feels really out of place. Also I've noticed some of the episodes just seem to just end without any conclusion ( the sea monster episode stands out the most)
Totally agree. I was so confused about that episode. I love that it developed Derrick, but like, where were they planning on going with that? Why was the octopus there? It's complex enough where you feel like there's a lore behind it but then they never mention it again.
That episode is a case study on why this series isn’t working for me 😂
It’s just poor story telling and I’m so confused as to why it was either not caught or thought unimportant. What’s to stop the octopus from doing the same thing he did the first time? Why did he grow so fast? What was the point if the episode had no relevance to when Derek became king?
Yea the jokes rarely land at all and when they do it’s never lol level laughter, just a slight chuckle. Nevertheless I still thoroughly enjoyed the show, mainly for the overarching story and characters
I like it but it's how Simpsons and Futurama are with me. The jokes are just meh but Futurama has a story that can capture you. Disenchantment has the potential like Futurama but it's compounded by SJW beat downs when it can focus on Dagmar and her kigdoms enemy the snake one that would be more compelling as an underplot with still a strong female lead and the jokes can focus on usual fairytale jokes.
Honestly thought everything in this new season was good except the last two episodes. I did not want to see advanced technology invade the medieval fantasy thematic. Really fell flat to me. Didnt know why or what the fuck was happening the last 2 episodes. the rest was great though.
I totally get people feeling that way, I just happen to really love the Steampunk aesthetic and think it could take the show in really unique directions that we haven't really seen before.
I'm with you as far as Part 2, onward and upward, more of a fan now.
Details aside, for me, the commentary on religion, hypocrisy, and the whole fun grab bag of talking to God, touring hell- this is what Groening and shows like this were made for.
Along with the obvious political and social observations and commentary. Glad these folks are on the planet.
Hey guys u know the ogre queen in the episode where all the elves get sick, ye I think that she was elfo’s mum because when the ogre queen eventually help Bean and Elfo escape she hears Bean shout elfo’s name in the cave, then the ogre repeats the name like she’s heard that name before somewhere what r your thoughts on that aye?

It shows true talent to to talk about a show like this without being hindered by its flaws and focus on the actual intentions and results of this show. My dude I'm sure you'd have something nice to say about a fly. Always a pleasure to hear an unfamiliar insight.
Ah man, I love this comment. I'm happy to critique things, but I hate when criticism videos just turn into roasts. It's way easier to pick something apart than it is to really highlight the positives, and I just have way more fun talking about things I love than things I hate. Happy to see these kinds of reactions to my UA-cam philosophy!
Y'all, Jerry wasn't just stupid! He was made stupid when Dagmar put the drilled crown on his head, the indentations on his head show this!
Wow, never noticed that before bean threw the music box away and broke it Dagmars eyes were closed as she held bean, when it reappears her eyes are opened a bit. Could be nothing but this show is so good with leaving bread crumbs. As well as elfo's dad saying he went to the ogre homeland and saw the legend berries, and that made me think the ogre queen is elfos mother. Which was only strengthened when she let them go at the end of the episode.

there is plenty of more stuff that happend, Jerry for example (the dumb assistent in Maru) we can tell has worn the crwon theyre trying to put on tiabeanie, which implies that the wearer might get stupid or something like that. The pirate can be seen searching for the same thing as bean is so the elves want the same thing as Dagmar wants. There is a loooot more stuff than that too add, every episode contains new information+ confirms old information
Guess Dagmar tried to reveal herself to still be in the castle but Bean left before she could reveal herself to be in the tunnels

I was kind of disappointed that they completely dropped Bean and Elfo’s relationship/friendship they just didn’t seem to interact at all with each other
Maybe elfo is still mad Bean chose her mom over him.
Or they realize that cliche with the “ will they or won’t they” was gonna get old and dropped it for this season.
They might have a guy Bean falls for hard in the next season.
And who knows maybe their be a girl that falls for Elfo.

Exactly lol. After hours of watching this series and its intense chapters, I found myself laughing particularly on this Elfo's statement, even after the show, the 'splits' image stuck in my head with permanent IT'S DISGUSTING remark ! LoL Elfo forever ruins splits workout !
Great review / breakdown. I personally liked the episodes 11-13 the most. However, one thing that was explore any further in this second season was if Disenchantment and Fururama takes place in the same universe (in season one, this was hinted in one scene)
I honestly don’t think it’s something they’ll explore in depth, but it’s fun to think about

I think that disenchantment is in the area of 2100-2900 as in futurama we see a medieval time after our present and we see steam land that is more advanced than dreamland so the advanced technology could be from it being in the actual future and also we see a lot of ties to futurama
I love your analysis of the show. I know resurrections can be annoying, but this is something you'll see when reading Candide from Voltaire.

I think Elfo’s mom might be an ogre.
In the episode “Our Bodies, Our Elves”, after Bean and Elfo break out of Ogre prison, one of the Ogres helps Elfo reach the berries and escape.
While this may not be Elfo’s actual mother (since she’s supposed to be dead), but it may serve as a hint.
ALSO, Pops (Elfo’s Dad) says he’s the one who got his wife killed and if his wife was an Ogre, it would explain the feud between Elves and Ogres presented in the show
I'd hope they'll be more seasons of Disenchantment it is a really good show
Steam land looked like an older version of new New York where futurama is set. I wonder if the time period is actually in the future but 2500 ish or so after some cataclysmic change on earth...would be a neat way to link the two shows

I think elfos Mom was a ogre because if you remember in the episode our bodies our elves close to the end the queen ogre said elfo as in Like she remembered him or his name I think his mom was an ogre
y'know I like how it's only on Netflix cuase, no 3 1/2 mins ads, no having to wait weeks or till 7-9pm only to miss it or the first 5-9 minuets, plus yeah s2 was a pretty good improvement, I liked it :)
Can I just point out that there are two elves that we know of that left Elfwood before Elmo left. Which is Leavo and Returno! In the first episode king Elf says that only Leavo left and never returned, not even Returno.
You see those albino elf’s two other times in the seasons
And a soothing Goon to mutter you to sleep.
Well actually we don't know if the bullet is out of zods body because we never saw her take it out because she got interrupted by Derek and the others

Elfo's mom is the Queen of the ogres
The reasons:
1. The Queen of the ogres has the same exact noses elfo and all the other ogres have different noses
2. Queen of the ogers takes recognition to elfo's name when She lets bean and elfo escape From the Valley of the ogres
3. The Queen asks elfo "where you shrimps from"( If elfo said elfwood then the Queen would know that elfo was her son)
Steampunk land is very cool ... that all lmao ... also i die but not really
I believe the queen orgre might be related to Elfo in some ways based on her dialogue
The possibility of Elfo being part Oger is 50/50 but...
What if that detail i. The episode was to throw us on a wild goose chase.
We now have those under ground elves too.
Is possible Elfo’s mother could be someone in expect and the Oger queen line was just away to throw us off until they reveal the identity

No one seems to notice that when Bean throws her music box out, her mom's eyes in the music box are closed. When the music box returns, her eyes are open and look angry...

I thought Elfo was half demon at first. Wanting to experience pain and saltiness, but it's pretty obvious that the ogre is either his mom, or knows his mom, which by what Elfo's dad said about liking "big girls".... definitely half ogre.
