I wondered what Katniss was - it is the first name of the heroine in The Hunger Games and she was a very resourceful character and aptly named! I really hope you manage to sort out your water problem soon.

Yes! Thanks right! And there was that line in the book.. She quotes her father saying to her "Katniss, if you can find yourself you'll never go hungry" 😄
Thanks, Angela. I hope so too! Stay cool 😎

I have just discovered your discovery and I love it! I live in Washington state and there is a town here called Wapato- another name for swamp potatoes! I plan on harvesting some from down by the river now that I know about them from you and putting them in the bathtubs in my field. )

I have a tub of those growing too and have never harvested them because I am trying to increase the number. I have never had mine grow more than the size you have there. I thought they were supposed to get bigger. May be because they are not in a pond but a tub instead. Thanks for showing your pond. Going to have to get mine in the mini pond...

There are pictures on the internet if people holding significantly larger ones that the ones in my pond but even if they stay the same size I'll be most happy as long as they multiply! 😄 You're most welcome. I'm glad you enjoyed seeing one of my many micro-ponds! 😊

Interesting. I love a bit of foraging, do you know if you can find these beauties wild in the UK or are they cultivated only?
Little Ducky is so cute ❤️❤️❤️

Yes, you can very much find them wild, or so all the guide books say. Especially round the wetlands of England. Anywhere where there is very slow moving water really. Easiest to spot from June - September.

How did the swamp potatoes turn out?

Hi Sam, thanks for asking. The ones in the video in the pond were eaten by ducks only this morning!! Fortunately I have some backups in a tub in the greenhouse that are thriving!

This stuff is better than potatoes.

I agree! There's not been much of a crop yet thanks to those dastardly ducks & greedy geese but once they take off I envisage them superseding potatoes on the menu 😋
