I sure hope so. If we can keep the dog hunters and poachers out and let the ducks rest, it should be good. I will keep you updated, another planting video dropping soon
Been binging your swamp videos, and the dove vids too, but really interested in the swamp. When the season gets ready to come in, how much water are you going to let back in depth wise? Can't wait to see how much your hard work pays off. Love hunting the swamps in eastern nc that we hunt
Great video dropping today at 1 PM EST, check it out! The best compliment you can give me is to like and share with friends! We put about 12" - 30" across most of it, depends on rainfall and beavers but somewhere in there.
I cover my structures in these two videos, check them out! Little older videos, so bear with me ua-cam.com/video/6x8lan8i3ys/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/xXSDyMTzXWY/v-deo.html
Thank you ! Not sure yet, we’ll see how she’s doing. We train daily , just have to see where she is at. A lot of the places we hunt are quick, fast dark wood duck hunts, which can be difficult on a young dog.
Hey man nice video. I just drained my pond right before seeing this haha. I’d imagine I can still plant the rice without my pond having water in it. Is there any other way you go about doing it when the water is already off the pond?
You are fine, you can spread it right onto the mud flat. We planted one today that exact way and it should be fine. We have done it both ways with success. Stay tuned for the next few videos, more coming!
Planting rice and millet is the gift that keeps on giving well on into January and February. So worth the effort in the summer.
100% Always pays off! Not like deer, you plant for ducks, they will come
Hard Summer work to pay off in the Winter! Thanks for sharing as always. The Pup sure was having fun out there.
This hard work always pays off! We planted another swamp today and brought the kids! It was a blast. Fertilized this time
@@Yellowlab247_Outdoors Awesome. I'm sitting at the house in the air conditioning looking at YT. I'm being very unproductive today.
Should have a heck of a rice stand there! Can't wait to see how it comes along!

Any idea what causes rice with "empty" hulls? First time it's happened to me. Looks normal, nothing inside the hulls...
@@EdgarWilsonmb i’m pretty sure, lack of nutrients, particularly nitrogen. But I could be wrong.
Thanks for the educational content!!!
More coming! Stay tuned. We do another planting and fertilize this time
Can you show how to install a riser

Nice looking pup! Are you going to hunt her this fall or will she be too young yet?

Looks great. Where do you buy your agricultural rice?
I buy from both Triangle Pond Management in Raleigh and Petersens Wildlife Management in Burlington. Make sure you tell them Thomas sent you!

@@Yellowlab247_Outdoors is there a certain amount of time you let the seeds sit after draining the water out of the cooler?
What would be best for planting in shaded swamp?
Japanese millet, it seems to be more tolerant and a shorter growing period. so as the days get shorter, you don’t have to worry about it

Looks like you all should have a good season….if the ducks come 🤣. Good video 👍
I sure hope! this swamp normally produces a few good wood duck shoots and some geese. Mallards have not shown up in years.
