Don’t ever forget that VICE was one of the only major media outlets who focused on the development of this conflict since it began in 2013, and the events leading up to its initiation. This conflict should’ve garnished considerably more attention than it had in its early years and may have possibly been resolved or at least diminished in its severity. Unfortunately the action was not taken, and tens of millions have had to pay the price.

You see the news about the other major wars going on? Its pretty standard to only cover once and during the final outcome. A major reason why its beng covered continually is because ukraine is basically inviting the world press to the battlefield to see the news to get western sympathy.

For real. A few months ago I saw a video of a returning civilian walking around a recently liberated city. About half way in the 30 min video they saw a small black dog, gasped and said, "Those bastards." When the dog got closer you could see a "V" had been burned on its head starting between it's eyes. One of its little eyes was so milky I swear it must have been blinded. For some reason, every time I think of the war now that little dog pops in my head.
Not that I don't care about people, but just seeing animals that probably had homes just end up wandering in a war zone with little help (and yes I understand people come first and understand why) is so sad.

If her parents have no where else to go I can see staying, but the whole "this is our city so we're not leaving" thing they said also made me sad and a little mad. There's no shame in taking their child somewhere that isn't being bombed even if it means becoming a refugee in another country like many other Ukrainians have done. I think it's better to leave and live so you can come back to rebuild once the fighting stops. Also civilians were killed on both sides in the civil war spurred on by armed separatists. 14K civilians from both sides, 90% in the first year 2014. What changed after that 1st year? Nato got involved in 2015 training and arming Ukraine so it could defend itself from Russian-backed separatists. In order to get weapons and training, Ukraine's forces were cleaned up. Oh they will. russian economy was less than that of Texas -- and that before the war-related sanctions. They stand no chance whatsoever against the combined economic and technological power of Western nations. By persisting in this barbarous invasion they are digging a deeper hole for their own country. In the end they will gain nothing and remain the most sanctioned state, a regional power at best. With some luck, they'll collapse outright.

Putin has twice as many able-bodied men of age to throw into the meat grinder. They're untrained, but they're able-bodied and disposable in his mind. He won't stop anytime soon, casualties for Russia are maximum like 200k right now, they won't stop until 1million+ casualties, unless Putin is assassinated or somehow the meat decides it is no longer willing to enter the grinder.

How are there blown up vehicles right next to untouched trees? As someone who works on tree professionally; those trees mostly look untouched. How? everything around them is blown to pieces?
