That's a VERY good question. After all, destroying Ukrainian settlements is one thing - but destroying your own, even if you try and blame it on the Enemy, is something else. And what to do with all those displaced people? Conversely, if the Russians are not allowed to flatten the areas in which the Ukrainians are dug in...problems, problems for Tsar Vladimir the Terrible!
Absolutely, Ukrainian soldiers have morals, they know the civilians should not be targeted. The massive difference in the damage to civilian homes is exponential, also when the russians invaded Ukrainian people stood up and fought, I haven't seen the Russian population doing anything of the sort.
Russian people see completely different things on TV though... My mum never believes me when I try to tell her what's actually going on. She's 100% sure our soldiers are the most peaceful soldiers on earth, just like the majority of elderly people who keep voting for Putin. 😢
Western countries are playing double standard on Ukrain. They gave Ukrian long range weapons but again denied them to use them against Russia. Then why did they give this weapons if they are not to be used?
Good question. It is mainly a fear of escalation. The west lets Ukraine use everything on occuppied Crimea, Donbas etc - even though Russia claims it is now their sovereign territory
It definitely felt different in a big metal box, which is a 'legitimate target'. In all my trips to the frontline over the last two and half years, this was only thr second time I have had to travel in a purpose built military vehicle (rather than a re-purposed 4x4)
Jerome, Russia routinely uses dual-use technology from China as well as weapons from Iran & N. Korea in this war. Why, therefore, does the West consider it “escalation” on the part of Ukraine if they do the same, by using Storm Shadow and ATACMS inside Russia? Considering that it was the West itself that placed this ridiculous restriction ON ITSELF, and not the Russians, I see no reason why it’s now become this major obstacle in Ukraine’s fight for its very existence.

This war should have never happened. Ukraine must not allowed to be a member of NATO. That was the agreement Ronald Reagan made with the Russian leaders. Obama and Joe Biden and warmongers in the American government are responsible for this war. American citizens are against the war in Ukraine and Russia.. I am an American citizen so I know this

Jerome has better ballistic gear than most Russian units. Especially when lots of Russians have to buy their own.
The Russian State supplies paper and cardboard body armour.
The Russian black market for body armour is vast and lots of that stuff is terrible for survivability.
The Russians armed with shovels and dishwashers.
How is it going with the Ukrainians in Donbas, BTW?

I must say that Mr Starkey... and his team... have been absolutely outstanding in his reporting from the battlefield in Ukraine. There are always 2 sides to a conflict.....

Why use the term "Smuggled". It implies something illegal. The brave Ukranians took him to liberated land! Slava Ukraina.
Fair point.
But it WAS illegal.
If he was a citizen of Ukraine, that would be a different matter, but he is a citizen of a country that is not officially at war with Russia, so he crossed the border illegally, let's face it!
Funny how Russia going into territories who asked them for help to defend against Kiev is "occupation", but when Ukraine takes territories that don't want them there it is "liberation"...
Outstanding reporting. Glory to Ukraine!

Notice this town does not look like Bucha. No murdered civilians, no mass graves, no raped children, no looted washing machines.
Absolutely, Ukrainian soldiers have morals, they know the civilians should not be targeted. The massive difference in the damage to civilian homes is exponential, also when the russians invaded Ukrainian people stood up and fought, I haven't seen the Russian population doing anything of the sort.
The Ukrainians have shot loads of civilians and looted homes, shops and churches .but you watch bs western media
Russian people see completely different things on TV though...

Very true, of the parts we could see...

Great Q&A at the end!
