I am a musician. You concert band is lovely. Tell me why you do not allow jazz and blues in your curriculum? Do you know that it came from your churches? Also, I am black. I feel that is is racial hatred. i hope not because I have respect for your school and its mission.
It has nothing to with racism, they are a Baptist school and feel that jazz and blues does not correctly direct people towards God. It is a private school so they can put or pull whatever feels wrong or right.
Understood. It is a good school. However, jazz and blues came right out of those churches. It The church moved me to resume my instruments. Jazz and blues connects me to God because I have the blues. I am Episcopalian, who hangs his hat in Holiness churches where I hear the themes and on recordings and live performances. Oh, yes. It is straight out of the Bible. Wherever jazz and blues are, it is a sacred place, as per Bobby Sanabria.
Couple years late on this but? Jazz and Blues not being allowed definitely is racial. It’s the epitome of art and the American experience. The excuse of the Bible is old and tried

if they feel it effects your Christian walk it doesn't necessary mean it is true . Obey the bible not the church.
