This "Finlandia" is, together with "Valse triste" the two most popular tunes of Sibelius, still they are in the opposite corner of each other. From extravagant nationalism to a sad waltz. Still they together point out the musical universe of Sibelius. His world of music consists of all in between. So let us celebrate Sibelius by listening to this Finlandia with all the feelings outside!

I understand there is a discussion about these lyrics. As a swede I dont know, but is it about the fight 1918 between red and white? Then I can understand why it still is a battle of this, more than 100 years ago!
@@staffanolofsson8201 Finland has been ruled by Sweden for a long time. Later, Sweden and Russia went to war, Sweden was defeated, and the Finnish region was given to Russia. At first, Russia granted Finland a certain degree of autonomy, but later the Russians tried to assimilate the Finns, and the censorship mechanism became more and more strict. Sibelus made Finlandia to arouse national fighting spirit and name this song "Improvisation" when it have just being composed (You can look at wiki).
The hymn "Finlandia" at 4:40 has many times been discussed to be the new national anthem of Finland. Still it is not so. I myself prefer this anthem to the current one.
I've always loved this piece, stately, lush, and beautiful.
One of my favorites; thanks for sharing!
What an amazing performance👍! Thanks
Couldn't stop my tears.
It really ought to be officially designated the World Hymn.
A beautiful performance by you all 👏🏻👏🏻❤️❤️
Thank you!

4:40 The doctored lyrics distorted what Sibelius wanted to express.

These are the wrong lyrics.
@@vapaus831 What lyrics shall it be and what differs them from these?
@@staffanolofsson8201 In fact, I am a chorister, and I also like this piece very much, but I will not use religious lyrics to perform this song.
@@vapaus831 I only liked the melody, as I can not understand the text. If there are different words to this theme I have no opinion about them.
