- The State Department issued a worldwide alert Friday for Americans traveling overseas. Sources tell CBS News the warning is a result of recent intelligence, citing threats by ISIS against Pride events in parts of Europe. Glad you found someplace you like. I love the US and am super safe. Never get shot at on the street at night, at school, the mall, grocery store etc. No shootings at all. Just got to live in a sane city. SF, Chicago, Philly, NY, Portland not recommended. Thousands of other cities to live in that are friendly and safe.

Warnings from the US State Department are mixed at best. They warn Americans about traveling to the Mindanao region of the Philippines. I have been there twice and never sensed a threat or ran into trouble. Quite the opposite actually - Filipinos are very welcoming and friendly.
For other parts of the world I can see why. We assert our military in everyone else's business with much disapproval domestically and abroad. Too bad we don't focus on issues at home.

I don't know about other country. I just came back from 2 months travel around China. It is safe days or nights, convenient, and cheap. I travel alone and have not use taxi there. After arrive to the international airport, I rode the subways, bullet trains, and public buses to get to anywhere I like. People are very helpful if you ask for help. At nights, the street and the parks are full of people gathering, dancing, jogging, walking, playing game, singing, and simply eating a snack. Everywhere is super clean and safe. People are friendly too. I spent less money on the 2 months traveling within China than my airline ticket. I will definitely like to visit again till I see every interesting place in this country. Now at home, I don't dare go out after dark.

Every European country has been under travel advisory since at least 2015. Nothing is new here.

So they are saying I should travel now. While the tourists are scared and minimal.
What a joke the border is not secure here in the USA. I have done alot of traveling it depends on what country you are traveling to the state department will put out warnings for each country.
