100% agreed that we need more cute handhelds or you eccentric handhelds. There are so many variations of the same design in these devices that my wife is always saying “is that the same one or is it different?”

One thing you can do with the Android Cube for 3d games, is turn on the widescreen hack in the settings of Duckstation and RCPS2, then set the aspect ratio to fill. Rather than extending the image to the sides, it'll extend it upwards. It will not be stretched.

Been enjoying my cube xx for a few weeks now. Gameboy games have never looked so good. Its well worth the effort to put Knulli on it. It upped the device from a 6 to a 10 for me.
I love the Cube XX. I wish it was built as solidly as the original Cube and offered better colors, but for a 1:1 screen, it has enough power to play everything that works well on that screen.

I do admire these companies are trying out funky designs though. Maybe one day I'll find one that jus speaks to me and I have to have.

I too own the Ambernic devices. I can tell you that the all white version of the CubeXX has a concave d-pad...which doesn't surprise me for Ambernic, and I say that with love. MuOS on the CubeXX is amazing as well and super easy to install. Actual game changer. Easily my favorite 1:1 device and I prefer it to the much powerful Cube. The only thing that has kept me from the Bubble is the lack of different device colors because it could have been hella cutesy and they missed the mark.

Appreciated your perspective. I am more on the emulator side with some original hardware here and there. I agree the RGB30 was toy like. It was a good start, but was plagued with battery and charging issues for many. If Powkiddy could do an upgraded Generation 2... The CubeXX on Knulli has been great.
I laughed at the design of the Cube. Didn't see a point in it. Then I saw someone showcase ds games and I was sold. The best way to play DS and 3ds games are on official hardware but this is q close second. The way the screens stack are nice and the fact that it's android means you get the touch screen. Plus I can use cheats, turbo buttons and increase speed to get through some more tedious aspects of some games. Might be too weak for some 3ds games, some slow down at native resolution. This is not a bad device for GB/C/A as well. Just slap an overlay on it in retroarch and what bezels? Really love me Cube.

The Cube (Not XX) was kind of a big deal initially because of the lack of high res 4:3 screens. 1:1 was really the best you could do for 4:3 PS2 or Gamecube since the alternatives were all 640x480. But now that Retroid made the Retroid Pocket Mini, that's the new resolution you can expect for 4:3
the manly thing is my biggest issue with like the whole retro handheld industry- black, white, dmg. its so boring, i want fun colours. we should be having fun we're playing video gamessss!!! ;-; not rgb tho lol. this was a lovely look at these, ty.
Yeah I love my RGB30 - I know it doesn’t feel as premium as other devices but it is the best way to play Pico-8 games. Handheld mode or hooked up via mini-HDMI to TV with Bluetooth controller paired - RGB30 can handle all your favorite retro/arcade games. And the price won’t break your wallet.
