I had Team 1 H'aanit (Huntress/Solar) Olperin (Warrior/Warmaster) (50000+ Schaden mit Battlecry) Primrose (Dancer/Starseeker) Elfin (Apothecary/Cleric) Team 2 Therion (Thief/Sorcerer) Cyrus (Solar/Apothecary) Tressa (Merchant/Runelord) Ophillia (Cleric/Huntress)
(Me prior to playing Octopath Traveler) "Man...I hate how I'm always the last to finish JRPGs because I got this weird obsession with making sure every character is leveled up to the same level, even the ones I never want to use..." (Me reaching Galdera) "My time has come."
I never completed Octopath until 181h Probably 150 of those hours were me grinding XP and JP. I got erryone to lv99 before I took on Galdera and acquired the last few achievements, finally completing Octopath As a completionist, I always finish games last. I make sure to do errything there is to do in a game before I wrap it all up with the final boss
okay so I know your comment is a year old, but how did Alfyn get back up immediately? does he some sort of ability that lets him revive or was he holding an item? I'm fairly new to playing octopath so I have no idea
Tressa: You know, a few days ago my biggest problem was a rival merchant taking my customers. Cyrus: I was looking for a stolen book. Things…things have _certainly_ escalated.
this will always be one of the most memorable final bosses I've fought in any game. not because it was tough as nails, or the music was epic, but because I beat it by having the merchant I brought along poke it for a measly 200 damage JUST BEFORE I could get off the really huge attack I'd spent the last several turns preparing as my party was on the verge of death. and if having a random NPC hogging the spotlight on the victory screen for the final boss wasn't bad enough, as soon as the fight was over he left, leaving a vacant spot in the middle of the victory screen and text that just reads, "Your companion returned to whence they came..."
I remember being so pumped when, after 1 and a half hours of struggling I beat the first phase, and then thinking to myself "There's another phase, isn't there?" As I watched the screen scroll upwards, my happiness went down almost as quickly as my team What an awesome experience
One of the things I love most about this fight is how the four parts in phase 2 mimic a typical rpg party. Blade = Physical Damage Maw = Magical Damage Lyblac = Healer Galdera = Support
I feel like Galdera is a homage to all 3 snes final fantasies final bosses, in the same way Octopath traveller as a whole is a callback to classic RPGs. - It is has multiple phases in which you keep ascending a towering final boss, like Kefka from ff6. - It is a body horror mess made of multiple bodies with their own healthbars, like Neo-Exdeath from ff5. - And the second form is shaped like Zeromus from ff4, with both of them having almost the same pose.
I haven't played this game in a while, but I love watching someone else play because you can almost tangibly feel the hesitation of choosing what attack to use in hopes of breaking and discovering a vulnerability. So fun. Nice vid, thanks for sharing!
Honesty the boss being very hard is not what made me rage quit. What did was the fact that losing this battle meant losing your progress of beating the previous bosses of Finis, which by the way were a lot easier to kill than Galdera (still long). The unexpected sudden increase in difficulty is what got me (and i imagine many more), and in my opinion this shouldn't be an excuse for the game to not save your progress.
It wasn't the boss itself, but what you had to do to get another chance to fight it. Having no save point in a final dungeon is a cardinal sin in RPGs for me. It's not difficult, but time consuming and frustrating. Having to go through eight lengthy boss battles to get to the main without a save point is unforgivable.
Really wouldn't say this guy is "pro" - he makes his first phase waay longer than it needs to be with h'aanit with the crit or miss sword and no break damage limit on warmaster. Ideally want a good sorceror to carry first phase with triple hit spells then support a strong warmaster for phase 2 to carry the fight. Other than that overheal support skill helps a lot and you just pray the turn order RNG doesn't screw you at the start of P2.
@the_pleb_ if it wasn't for the gauntlet I wouldn't mind the final boss being hard. But the fact you have to do the gauntlet which takes like almost 30 mins to do is what makes it extremely annoying. Just have a save before the final battle
Something very helpful is that Alfyn can use concoct to remove all enemy buffs and prevent them for multiple turns to buff themselfes up again. This turns Lyblac basically useless for multiple rounds and reduces the damage you take greatly. I managed to beat the boss with lv 60-67 thanks to that without slapping saving grace on everybody.
Elijah Eugene saaaaaame. Level 76 olberic... level 24 Alfyn. Luckily the 8 other bosses were easy at that point so I only lost about 45 minutes of time.
Seth Dunn to make matters worse for me I went to go grind and got bored of that so I made a new save file just for the fun of it and saved over my main file on accident all those hours wasted 😂
This may help: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/e/2PACX-1vTB8ETymokELfLd5J16Ebbl1GXFi7Hc1MB5PftFMZaq70wOn6ze-mfn5ce1k-8l7oYuOKyaNVDStZzx/pubhtml# I killed him with similar setup that its in recomended, but instead of thief i had a dancer. Alfyn is best used on p1 to remove the anoying poision (but it can be overhealed with Saving Grace).
This strategy can actually be used on this boss (just a bit modified) I used "50.00 all enemy damage" strategy during the first phase, using Warmaster Olberic and Alfyn/Inventory to spam Winnihield's Battlecry each turn. During the second battle, I used my Runelord strategy, getting everyone to 14.000+ damage each attack (My main Team actually, just had to remove the cleric class from thereon because I needed it in the first party)
My first team is mainly Light Rune and elemental break, boosted with Sealticge and Aelfric. It also helps that Tressa and Primrose's bright pursuit can hit for 9999. My second team is a BP battery Alfyn with a Fortitude Warmaster Olberic, wiping the floor with a Take Aim and Armor Corrosive boosted Winnehilde Battle Cry.
I know this boss might not be so hard for some people but holy crap its one of the hardest bosses i've encountered in a game... Update: I have beaten the boss finally
The youtubers have grinded to no end to put out content and strategies to best galdera and such. Youre in the majority that find this boss incredibly tough. I too have 140 hours in and cant beat the first phase with my mid level 60 team...
I over leveled for the boss I haven’t beaten him because I’m a moron and keep hitting bewildering dance by accident and I have the worlds worst luck. Each time it removes my items, leaves me with 1HP, heals my enemy, and steals all my battle points
This one is definitely one of the hardest boss and imo one of the best too. My first team was kind of a gimmick team (warmaster cyrus with runelord tressa) and my second team is mainly carried by Alfyn (yes Alfyn is the best character in the game).
Phase 1: “I don’t know. Is your dad a giant f**king skeleton made out of RIBCAGES AND HATRED?!” - Ballsdeep69 (aka Klein) Phase 2: “P.S. you might wanna keep your eyes peeled for the PERSONIFICATION OF DEATH ITSELF!” - Kirito
@Jeff Cotten i have that game, I haven’t gotten around to it yet, it looks similar to octopath. Would that be accurate? I have to get into that game soon.
Would have been better if they added a damn save station here. Oh boy, love having to go through the 8 stupid boss rush and then redo phase 1 and then try again at phase 2 if you wipe. Found out you need Saving Grace on everyone? Well too bad, you found out too late. Do it all over again, absolute waste of time.
If the heroes in this world weren't video game characters who could fight the boss over and over again to adapt their skills and tactics this world would be screwed.
Heh... I found myself intentionally keeping my characters as low level as possible in order to maximise enjoyment, because I found the game really easy. Then I came up against this guy with no-one in my party even close to level 60. Guess I'm going to have to either do some grinding or exploiting... neither of which I'm looking forward to.
I finally did it. I defeated Galdera. But I did it with the help of Chubby Caits. Sorry, I just wanted to finally beat the game. The second phase wasn't really difficult. I killed every "part of the body" very fast. And after that, I defeated Galdera himself within a few rounds. My playtime after that fight: About 140 hours and 20 minutes
@@kiet91 Thanks. I prepared everything for the final battle. I brought every character at least to level 75, equipped the right gear, the right support skills and the right secondary jobs. Three of them were about level 89. Maybe I made the fight too easy. And like I said, I just wanted to finish the game. But it wasn't easy to capture Chubby Caits. More than just *one* actually. In the end, it was totally worth playing the game. I will remember the game as one of the greatest games I ever played. And why do I say all that: Because the fight against Galdera was literally the last thing I did in the game. The defeat of Galdera marks the end of my gameplay of Octopath Traveler. Now I will continue to play Splatoon 2 more regularly.
i just defeated him. my time was 83 hours and 31 minutes. completed the 101 sidequests as well. i congratulate you and respect you for putting the effort into defeating probably the hardest jrpg final boss i have ever faced
I lost after fighting for 5 hours so I figured I’d just come here and see what happens rather than spend another 20 hours grinding my guys to the right level to fight this thing. I like turn based stuff, and I’m alright with some grinding, but I don’t feel like going to the insane extent needed to beat this boss. Still like the game though. Kudos to whoever can beat this boss.
I heard this song called “Daughter of the dark god” in spotify. I didnt play this game or know anything about it. But soon i heard it I knew it was a final boss song. And what a song!
Its like they were so kind to sell us a whole game as a bonus to an incredible soundtrack. Least way I see it. Besides, aint no way I'm grinding to level 60-70 just to take on this boss. Pretty much played the game on up until the 20th hour and was curious just how far and long this game truly is. Saw this and went welp this looks cool and all but I have other shit in my life than to grind for almost 100 hours to reach this level of preparedness for the secret final boss fight.
I'm playing through this and I had no idea this even existed after completing all 8 of the stories. WTF! So I have just found it out and now getting my characters up to scratch so I can deal with this absolute beast! 😱
I just beat all eight stories in Octopath. It took me over 100 hours and I didn't really put a true dent into the side stories. The game was good, retro and refreshing all at once, but I didn't like the mindless wandering. Call me too spoiled from today's gaming culture, but I didn't like getting a side quest in one location with almost no direction where to go (so thus I just kept going in general as I assumed the game wanted me to) only to sometimes run into another side quest that had even more parts to complete. That I didn't like, I mean, I work and have bills to pay. I didn't even remotely know there was a "true" boss until Wikipedia told me. I just skimmed through this video and called the game complete. I have too many other games to get to. Again it was good, just way way too long.
What about making your Starseer be faster than the head (the body part that uses spells) and use the debuff that eleminates every buff and prevents it to be buffed so it doesn't hit that hard? What about using the passive skills that resurects you ar 25% of life? What about using the passive that allows you to survive at 1hp as long as you aren't at 1hp? What about increasing the Magic deffense in the 2º party? Each one of them is enough to stop that from happening. I don't see any luck.
DrBXXI I used all my skill slots to make them strong enough to do actual damage & heal beyond their health so they can tank most hits during a turn. The luck is clear as day. This boss is different for everyone. Sometimes he’ll attack someone with the lowest health resulting in killing them, or for someone else, turn a blind eye. You probably haven’t watch as many different people do this boss fight so you don’t understand the possibilities. Trust me, it’s based on luck from the RNG gods. In my case, he went before the entire party and used an over power ed attack. Sometimes the ice attack will only hit 3 times but in my case it was 5 or 6. It’s entirely based on luck. Most people i watch get Atleast one person to go before he strikes. They’ve most likely lost to this boss more than once but you wouldn’t know because who records losing? Only reason to do that is to show people you reached the true boss earlier than most. Which is what a UA-camr did. But yeah man point is, if it’s not entirely luck-based there’s definitely some luck involved
"You probably haven’t watch as many different people do this boss fight so you don’t understand the possibilities." And you provably make assumptions with no evidences and play poorly. Trust me, it's all skill. I have killed it with my team bein lvl 65 just because I think it's the best fight of the game and punishes hard the mistakes. There is only luck when you don't do things properly. If you don't do what you should have done there is a chance that the boss might just wipe you.
DrBXXI The evidence is you saying there is no luck required. You obviously got lucky. How can you be skilled in a turn based game?? I can be skilled through Ys, BoTW, Xenoblade, etc. Because they're games where YOU control the character and do the fighting. Thats where "skill" is required. In turn-based you have to be intelligent, observant and damn Octopath makes you think. I agree whole heartedly, it is the best fight of the game and punishes hard. I can kill every random encounter and mini boss in less than 5 turns so that just shows you the scale of this boss. But from experience, if you use too many passive skills, you will not do enough damage and both phases have this "Hurry tf up" part of them where theyll go more times than usual, meaning you're taking too long. So i try to maximize the damage. This has worked decently for me. But what skill is there in GOING BEFORE THE BOSS? I dont have much control over that besides boosting speed by like 200 with accessories. I'll try that whenever i get the chance. I wouldn't say im playing poorly because when i do ACTUALLY get to go, my team is over healed, bp is almost always 3+, and sp is in order. I know what to expect watching all these people play and what they all have in common is going before the boss. With no speed accessories.
Planning your turns properly is skill in a turn based game. Actually, you can't control turn one. It doesn't matter how fast you are. Turn one will be always random (Or so far that's what I have noticed in this game). However you can have enough survival to survive the first round no matter what. In 2º fase I relied in Olberic Warlord to do all the dmg. I just keep everyone alive with the potion that heals your full HP, MP and Action Points with the apothecary divine skill and abuse the Warlord divine skill. The rune lord gives you a Magic deffense bost in battle. I don't know how can you die without the chance of answering. Also remember the Starseer skill that has a 25% chance of ignoring dmg, it's specially good with repetitive hits like the ice spell. Not to say that you have a lot of items that lower Ice dmg like the Leviathan Shield. I seriously think it's your fault if you fail even if the boss does his worst to you. (I must say I think that the 2º phase is much easier if you prevent the head to get buffed with the starseer and use the Dancer divine art in a Hunter/thief to debuff all the body parts.)
Good Lord......it's like Kefka and Giygas had a child, and they named it Galdera. Aside from that, this fight looks tough and tedious as all hell (no pun intended) seeing as you need to level grind for all 8 characters, and pretty much max them all out in order to win. Jesus, it's like FF6 all over again
@@mr.d8654 To be fair, after getting all the optional shrines and completing the character stories, My highest level character is 67 (Tressa, sorcerer) and my lowest is a level 39 Primrose (Dancer/Thief). Haanit and alfyn weren't much better than primrose, so to beat this game I now need to grind characters I didn't enjoy as much for about 30 levels. Welp, Time to bewildering grace the living shit out of literally everything.
This ɓoss is my nightmare i just can't waste another 5 hours to get rekt by his upper limb, and youtube still recommends these vids to shame me...... I prefer to be shamed for my whole life rather than getting rekt by this dude again....
has anyone realized while they hear Lyblac monologuing that they are standing in O.C.T.O.P.A.T.H.? (same thing goes for the first towns in the game, can spell octopath for the character they hold)
I beat this today. I had to take Galdera on 7-8 times before I got it, but I finally defeated him. This was my set-up: (All characters were around Level 78-81) Team 1: Cyrus- Sorcerer H'aanit- Warrior Tressa- Runelord Ophilia- Apothecary Made sure that Ophilia was wearing the Thunderstorm amulet. Also made sure that H'aanit had a number of Devourer of Dreams captured to use. These take out the three souls all at once when she is fully boosted. Have Ophilia there to heal everyone, have Tressa transfer the Light Rune to everyone, and let Cyrus just bomb the boss with magic. Team 2: Alfyn- Scholar Primrose- Starseer Olberic- Warmaster Therion- Cleric I did the Olberic/Warmaster build trick for this part. Have Olberic at 1 HP, have Alfyn there to boost and break shields, have Therion use Armor Corrosive, and have Primrose use Divination on Olberic. Then, have Olberic unload on the boss with Winnehild's Battle Cry. Took him out in less than 10 minutes. One last thing- I made sure to have Ogen with me. His healing powers are awesome to have for this fight.
First time facing 2nd phase I got my ass obliterated by those elemental AoE attacks. For my second attempt I kept the same team of Healer Therion, Runelord Tressa, Starseer Primrose and Sorcerer Cyrus, but that time I made sure to give Cyrus every single Magic Nut I've gathered throughout my +100 hrs of gameplay. The whole team helps making Cyrus an absolute beast of a damage dealer. His skills were Surpassing Power, Augmented Elements, Elemental Aid and Patience. Gave him the Light rune skill (since he was using that one Light amplifier staff), Aelfric's Auspices, Peacock Strut, Divination and the amount of damage he would deal then would be absolutely ridiculous. A single cast of Elemental Break with those buffs was dealing around 55k damage *without* a single BP used on a broken enemy. I then defeated 2 remaining minions and broke Galdera on the same turn. Dealt damage right there thanks to Patience and on the next one he was already dead lol, couldn't see a single skill of his. All around it was an amazing fight, both phase 1 and 2. You can get very creative with some strats here.
The first half was easy enough with Sorc Cyrus so I just cheesed the second part with 1HP Fortitude H'annit. Spammed the hell outta pomegranates and bursted him b4 he became any sort of problem.
Gabriel Gimenez yeah but this one is secret so it's just to throw a bone to RPG fans, otherwise the story final bosses are generally people/not Gods lol
Gabriel Gimenez Just always a way to escalate fights. You usually stop something terrorizing your land at the start of RPGs and slowly expand to saving more and more until the fate of the world is at stake.
i was very scared when i finally got to phase 2 so i watched a bit of your vid to calm myself, also i like that you brought erhardt and zaanta, very canon :)
She's MVP for a lot of fights! Although sometimes it feels, I dunno, kinda cheap? I mean, Transfer Rune is kind meant to be used with her elemental runes, to give those elemental attacks to the entire group. Sure it works with Sidestep because of how that move works, but Sidestep is not a Rune, so why does Transfer Rune works? That being said, I wouldn't have beaten him without that move, at least I don't think so. Maybe a future challenge for me: Beat Galdera without Mass Sidesteping! But I've just beaten him today, for now I'm good! ^_^
Just finished the game and did the quests to enter the gate. I have no unleveled characters, but after seeing this video, I'm not even going to try 😂. Thanks for the video!
I just did this fight and it was fun. Very rough, but I did manage to beat it on my 2nd try. I didn't really look up anything about Octopath before-hand, so I was surprised while watching this video to see Tressa can give everyone Sidestep as a Runelord. Somehow I never thought of that. I had Olberic as my Runelord to give everyone a defense buff instead. 2nd phase was scary since turn one, three of my characters were killed, but luckily I was able to recover. I just had to spend many, many turns trying to heal and set up and slowly whittle away at Leblac and the other two pieces before I was able to actually set up and do damage.
Damn so there is an actual insentive to level up every characters, and it's because of this boss Gotta put this mental note since I'm actually playing the game right now
I still think it would have been beneficial for story purposes if there was actual voice acting in this fight and its scenes. It also would have been cool if the right characters had something to say to each other or lyblac. Them being silent like we were back in classic ff1 or 3 or what have you kind of took me out of it. I did love the boss a lot though. Felt very rewarding to win against him. It? Them?
As much as I love this game, they ruined these fights by not letting you save. I'm not going to waste my time redoing all the mini-bosses and the beginning of the Galdera fight just to see more of the fight and rethink my strategy, and I'm not going to follow a guide if I can just watch a UA-cam video instead.
You can beat this without any advanced classes, but you do need advanced passives, especially Starseer passives like Divine Aura. This was my set up: First phase: Ha’anit (Warrior) - capture Devourer of Dreams beast, then full boost when those undead souls appear to OHKO ALL of them, remember to have Patience and Physical Prowess just in case Thunder’s Brand is needed, and of course priority debuff Cyrus (Thief) - Thief because of Harald’s Sword and Heathcote’s Dagger, which both boost fire spells IMMENSELY, and don’t forget Divine skill on self Ophelia (Dancer) - Peacock Strut, summon a Sp. Def debuffer, overheal, and of course, Divine skill on Cyrus Alfyn (Merchant) - CONCOCT and Tomahawk Axe (at full boost, can break the eye in one turn) 2nd phase: Olberic (Apothecary) - LAST STAND BUILD Primrose (Scholar) - build with speed second to Tressa, with BP Boost to use Divine skill on Cleric for Reflective veil or on hunter to AOE priority debuff Therion (Cleric) - this guy has the highest evasion, to build an evasion build WITH COVER AND DIVINE AURA passive skills to protect Olberic from the sword Tressa (Hunter) - MAKE HER AS FAST AS POSSIBLE for BP and priority debuff The second phase is luck-based, unfortunately. If the Maw decides to use Sorcerer-like attacks before you can se up, you’re dead.
didn't know I have to level my other 4 characters too so ya I failed once, after I grinded a whole day long and all reached lvl7X. Second time I did it deathlessly. It's an epic fight and satisfying ending. Don't mind me share my strategy here: T1: Cleric (Dancer), Apothecary (Starseer), Thief (Runelord), Hunter (Warrior) All of their passive skills include Patience, Second Serving and Saving Grace, so I can abuse runelord's runes by basic attacks and AOE attacks (with Cleric's ulti-buff). T2: Scholar (Cleric), Dancer (Sorcerer), Merchant (Hunter), Warrior (Warmaster) Saving Grace as usual, Surpassing Power for Warrior so his ulti can hit around 14000*6. - At the beginning I didn't like the story because of lack of connection between 8, but as the story continued I changed my mind. Even aside from main line story, there are so many hints from side quests and dialogues with most of NPCs, with all of these it builds a picture of the entire worldview. And the meaning behind the ending that "everything connects in the end" makes me feel some kind of a beauty of destiny. After all I love this game. Epic story, interesting combat system, and the most important, perfect BGMs.
I ended up not doing this because I didn't know that I needed all the characters so some weren't strong enough for this and I didn't want to spend the time again to beat those shadow enemies and then this with no saves inbetween after grinding for power. To those who beat this guy, good job.
does anyone know where you can find kit after this, if you can? I literally just beat this boss (finally!!!!!!!) but i dont want to look for him everywhere
Oh no, you don't get it. Sorry but whether you like it or not, he's just full on gone. He's going to adventure till the ends of his days. I know, it hurts to see him gone knowing you can't see him anymore. Who knows, maybe he'll be in OCTOPATH 2 on android
As bullshit as it is not having atleast 1 save point before the galdera fight (should have been reserved for those hardcore difficulty players) you gotta admit the boss theme is euphoric making me do another try
Get the Captain's Badge: go to Goldshore and "inquire" the Bishop Donovan then talk to Captain Bale at Wellspring. Equip the badge! Next, equip the Warmaster skill that increases XP by 50%. Now you have a 100% bonus XP Grind at the Forest of Purgation (West of Whispermill)
I'm not proud to say that I just Winnehild's Battle Cry the second phase to one shot the arm, mouth and Lyblac. I spent two days trying to beat it legitimately, but I was always f*cked uo by RNG on the first few turns. Once I managed to get to Galdera, only to be massacrated by three followed actions (I dont even know what he did). I counted about 11 times I had to rerun the 8 bosses + first phase only to get one shoted in the second, then I stopped counting until I beat it. Superbosses never were my cup of tea since my days are already full of stress, and videogames are my haven, but damn the lore, music and design behind this one was well worth the try IMO.
Probably people who can’t get past phase 1. I haven’t gotten this far, so who knows. Maybe I’ll end up hating this so much that I decide to dislike (which is something I honestly never do).
finally beat this boss on 3rd attempt. My second team was too slow so i added +80 speed to them. Barely one shotted the boss with winny without breaking. 180k+. I think this was the hardest boss I every fought against. Phew! GG
I loved that there was actually a post game thing that tried to tie the stories together I hate how vaguely hidden it is though I love/hate the expositions logs that give you some last minute lore of Graham and some of the baddies, and the conspiracies (actually it reminded me of Kingdom Hearts/Star wars ROSW really what with having this one person behind most of others stories, but not really all that naturally through the game I really dislike that there is ABSOLUTELY NO DIALOGUE FROK ANY OF THE CHARACTERS, no interactions on revelations, no AHA moments, no closure, nothing........WHY?! I despise not having any save states and being forced to make two parties and I really hate that this boss is very specific in how you fight it. I almost beat the eye boss, only for its final phase to wreck me, stone petrifaction, 4000 damage, status affliction, and multi hitting attacks, one character falls and permanently and I’m screwed, start over. I do really laugh at the seemingly intentional thing though of having a typical god boss being optional though. But still unlocking it and what it entails is stupid
This part of the game is a bunch of cool ideas and horrible execution. Just reading the logs from the mini-bosses, and watching the ending cutscene in a video is a much better use of time.

this will always be one of the most memorable final bosses I've fought in any game. not because it was tough as nails, or the music was epic, but because I beat it by having the merchant I brought along poke it for a measly 200 damage JUST BEFORE I could get off the really huge attack I'd spent the last several turns preparing as my party was on the verge of death. and if having a random NPC hogging the spotlight on the victory screen for the final boss wasn't bad enough, as soon as the fight was over he left, leaving a vacant spot in the middle of the victory screen and text that just reads, "Your companion returned to whence they came..."
Shows up
Kills god
Refuses to elaborate
leaves
This is incredible
Arya Stark moment
I remember being so pumped when, after 1 and a half hours of struggling I beat the first phase, and then thinking to myself "There's another phase, isn't there?" As I watched the screen scroll upwards, my happiness went down almost as quickly as my team
What an awesome experience
I thought it was so cool. Reminded me of Final Fantasy VI 😄
@@LILLYB8328does the final boss of that game also utilize separate teams of your party members?
"Come! If you dare!" THWACK. "Have I... Failed?"
"Hahaha you suck at this " *THWACK* UWAAHHHH!
One of the things I love most about this fight is how the four parts in phase 2 mimic a typical rpg party.
Blade = Physical Damage
Maw = Magical Damage
Lyblac = Healer
Galdera = Support
Why is galdera a arm
Vanish Soul IS Not support
16:10 - 16:22 She's just standing there ... MENACINGLY!!!
I love her and Galdera!
"a callback to classic RPGs" you only mentioned Final Fantasy games, might as well say "a callback to classic FF games"
@@LuizFelipe-lk1hs Well it's accurate for this game specifically, especially since it's from square so it's not all that surprising
I love how the first boss you fight in this game is a snake, now this...
For me it was a butler
Brigands here
mine was some dude stealing pencils and shit
Mine was an ugly bastard
Last Boss….LITERALLY A GOD!!!!
I haven't played this game in a while, but I love watching someone else play because you can almost tangibly feel the hesitation of choosing what attack to use in hopes of breaking and discovering a vulnerability. So fun. Nice vid, thanks for sharing!
the most satisfying moment of the whole video is when at 51:19 he takes a photo after 40 minutes of hard fighting xD
I came here after rage quitting.
This guy is a pro and still makes me wanna sue SE for the impossible boss
Agreed.
Now I remember, it was curious bloom combined with ruinous dust.
I love Square Enix's tendency to make a story go from a minor conflict to fighting gods. I wonder how Octopath II will throw at us
I didn’t know there was a second phase and I only had my main team leveled up you can say I was destroyed
Elijah Eugene *RIP* *IN* *PEPERONIS*
i had the same experience xD
Same... was so discouraged. Currently on my third attempt...
Dammit, I need to come up with a strategy other than “deal 250k damage on turn 3 and pray it kills them”. I hate doing things the intended way...
This may help: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/e/2PACX-1vTB8ETymokELfLd5J16Ebbl1GXFi7Hc1MB5PftFMZaq70wOn6ze-mfn5ce1k-8l7oYuOKyaNVDStZzx/pubhtml#
I killed him with similar setup that its in recomended, but instead of thief i had a dancer. Alfyn is best used on p1 to remove the anoying poision (but it can be overhealed with Saving Grace).
Same here.
This strategy can actually be used on this boss (just a bit modified)
I used "50.00 all enemy damage" strategy during the first phase, using Warmaster Olberic and Alfyn/Inventory to spam Winnihield's Battlecry each turn.
My strategy for this boss is basically, don't die until you're done lol. Ophelia heals my first team and Alfyn supports the next team.
I thought I was so well prepared...... I thought so wrong.... MY JOURNEY WAS FOR NOTHING! Q.Q
My first team was kind of a gimmick team (warmaster cyrus with runelord tressa) and my second team is mainly carried by Alfyn (yes Alfyn is the best character in the game).
might not be what for what? it's cancer in a video game character form. i just beat him and i am sweating
51:05 That timing was perfectly in line with the music.
This boss reminds me of so many things I've seen in other games. Wow! It's one cool looking boss!

@Jeff Cotten nice thanks. Just have to finish ragnarock and thats next lol
The upper dead soul is an intellectual, notice how he's deeply thinking
Look at this distinguished gentleman. Hmm, yes... very distinguished.
Heh... I found myself intentionally keeping my characters as low level as possible in order to maximise enjoyment, because I found the game really easy. Then I came up against this guy with no-one in my party even close to level 60. Guess I'm going to have to either do some grinding or exploiting... neither of which I'm looking forward to.

Me when I find out the true final boss is a side quest
I finally did it. I defeated Galdera.
But I did it with the help of Chubby Caits. Sorry, I just wanted to finally beat the game.
The second phase wasn't really difficult. I killed every "part of the body" very fast.
And after that, I defeated Galdera himself within a few rounds.
My playtime after that fight:
About 140 hours and 20 minutes
Gratz 😊
@@kiet91 Thanks.
I prepared everything for the final battle.
I brought every character at least to level 75, equipped the right gear, the right support skills and the right secondary jobs.
Three of them were about level 89.
Maybe I made the fight too easy.
And like I said, I just wanted to finish the game. But it wasn't easy to capture Chubby Caits. More than just *one* actually.
In the end, it was totally worth playing the game. I will remember the game as one of the greatest games I ever played.
And why do I say all that:
Because the fight against Galdera was literally the last thing I did in the game.

An epic and tough final boss fight. It was very long, too. The best part of the game
Now imagine this artstyle in FF6 Remake. Can't wait to see Kefka's Monument in this style.
FF4 or Chrono Trigger remade in this style would be a dream
Every big RPG has the secret optional superboss. Octopath Traveler forgot to make it optional.
IT IS.
I heard this song called “Daughter of the dark god” in spotify. I didnt play this game or know anything about it. But soon i heard it I knew it was a final boss song. And what a song!
That song is phase 2. Phase 1 is called "The one they call the witch"
What is eerie is this....
Kit is trapped in Galdera's eye.
Look closely at the eye during the first stage... *shudders*
I'm playing through this and I had no idea this even existed after completing all 8 of the stories. WTF! So I have just found it out and now getting my characters up to scratch so I can deal with this absolute beast! 😱
1: get gud
2: grind
3: quest rewards
Seriously though-good luck. It’s not like I’ve beaten it.
Gyigas in new graphics.
100 hours to complete the 8 stories? Bruh that's too much, it took me 50
Congrats man! You were a big help through my play through!
Thanks!
Fighting against Galdera will be one of the last things I do.
Despite this video, it looks incredibly hard.
But it's still an amazing video.
Gate of Finis be like:
Boss rush: 20-30 minutes
Actual boss: 2-3 hours
I swear this boss is extravagantly luck-based. If he goes before any of your characters in the 2nd phase and uses the ice attack you're done.
DrBXXI
I used all my skill slots to make them strong enough to do actual damage & heal beyond their health so they can tank most hits during a turn.
DrBXXI
The evidence is you saying there is no luck required.
Music is SPECTACULAR!
Hell yeah. 👍
The fact this final section wasn’t fully voiced has always bugged me. Still epic though.

Good Lord......it's like Kefka and Giygas had a child, and they named it Galdera. Ophelia, Cyrus, Tressa, Olberic, Primrose, Alphyn, Therion, Ha'anit (hope I spelled those right)
I beat this today. I had to take Galdera on 7-8 times before I got it, but I finally defeated him.
This was my set-up:
(All characters were around Level 78-81)
Team 1:
Cyrus- Sorcerer
H'aanit- Warrior
Tressa- Runelord
Ophilia- Apothecary
Made sure that Ophilia was wearing the Thunderstorm amulet.
Team 2:
Alfyn- Scholar
Primrose- Starseer
Olberic- Warmaster
Therion- Cleric
I did the Olberic/Warmaster build trick for this part.
You did the 1 hp cheese with warmaster DS
And I thought the Redeye was terrifying…My God…This looks like a fever dream…
Redeye was a direct result of this though.
Redeye is basically a mini, incomplete Galdera
That explains a lot
What's up with rpg's final bosses being gods always?? Lmao

From the gate of finis.
Runelord Tressa is the true MVP against the second phase
She's MVP for a lot of fights! Although sometimes it feels, I dunno, kinda cheap? I mean, Transfer Rune is kind meant to be used with her elemental runes, to give those elemental attacks to the entire group. Sure it works with Sidestep because of how that move works, but Sidestep is not a Rune, so why does Transfer Rune works?
That being said, I wouldn't have beaten him without that move, at least I don't think so. Maybe a future challenge for me: Beat Galdera without Mass Sidesteping! But I've just beaten him today, for now I'm good! ^_^
Took me a couple days to beat this fucker. I hate how some JRPGs are usually a cakewalk. Glad to finally be challenged in one for once. Love this game

It? Them?
The only thing that I didn't liked in this game, no interactions between the characters. That feel weird after playing bravely default

I thought I knew how to play the game. Then I got here.
The eye is realistic, it makes it unsettling !
But it looks cool on that boss
Speed killers be like: lol war master go slash slap
I like a tough boss fight, but this was ridiculous
You can beat this without any advanced classes, but you do need advanced passives, especially Starseer passives like Divine Aura. This was my set up:
First phase:
Ha’anit (Warrior) - capture Devourer of Dreams beast, then full boost when those undead souls appear to OHKO ALL of them, remember to have Patience and Physical Prowess just in case Thunder’s Brand is needed, and of course priority debuff
Cyrus (Thief) - Thief because of Harald’s Sword and Heathcote’s Dagger, which both boost fire spells IMMENSELY, and don’t forget Divine skill on self
Ophelia (Dancer) - Peacock Strut, summon a Sp. Def debuffer, overheal, and of course, Divine skill on Cyrus
Alfyn (Merchant) - CONCOCT and Tomahawk Axe (at full boost, can break the eye in one turn)
2nd phase:
Olberic (Apothecary) - LAST STAND BUILD
Primrose (Scholar) - build with speed second to Tressa, with BP Boost to use Divine skill on Cleric for Reflective veil or on hunter to AOE priority debuff
Therion (Cleric) - this guy has the highest evasion, to build an evasion build WITH COVER AND DIVINE AURA passive skills to protect Olberic from the sword
Tressa (Hunter) - MAKE HER AS FAST AS POSSIBLE for BP and priority debuff
The second phase is luck-based, unfortunately. If the Maw decides to use Sorcerer-like attacks before you can se up, you’re dead.
Oh sweet jesus. I only focused on Therion, Cyrus and Ophillia.
Time to give up on the final boss.
didn't know I have to level my other 4 characters too so ya I failed once, after I grinded a whole day long and all reached lvl7X. Second time I did it deathlessly. It's an epic fight and satisfying ending. Don't mind me share my strategy here:
T1:
Cleric (Dancer), Apothecary (Starseer), Thief (Runelord), Hunter (Warrior)
All of their passive skills include Patience, Second Serving and Saving Grace, so I can abuse runelord's runes by basic attacks and AOE attacks (with Cleric's ulti-buff).
T2:
Scholar (Cleric), Dancer (Sorcerer), Merchant (Hunter), Warrior (Warmaster)
Saving Grace as usual, Surpassing Power for Warrior so his ulti can hit around 14000*6.

At the beginning I didn't like the story because of lack of connection between 8, but as the story continued I changed my mind.
Here's what I do for the first phase. I use thunder amulets to reduce lightning damage my party takes from the eye.
does anyone know where you can find kit after this, if you can? I literally just beat this boss (finally!!!!!!!) but i dont want to look for him everywhere
Oh no, you don't get it. Sorry but whether you like it or not, he's just full on gone. He's going to adventure till the ends of his days. I know, it hurts to see him gone knowing you can't see him anymore. Who knows, maybe he'll be in OCTOPATH 2 on android
Ele essa música de fundo mano, E mais que incrível!.
As bullshit as it is not having atleast 1 save point before the galdera fight (should have been reserved for those hardcore difficulty players) you gotta admit the boss theme is euphoric making me do another try
Alfyn : *dies*
Also Alfyn : SIKE
Wheres the best place to grind to 75 and any tricks to speed up the process?
Get the Captain's Badge: go to Goldshore and "inquire" the Bishop Donovan then talk to Captain Bale at Wellspring. Equip the badge!
Next, equip the Warmaster skill that increases XP by 50%.
Now you have a 100% bonus XP
Grind at the Forest of Purgation (West of Whispermill)
Also be sure to have a Dancer spam the crap out of Bewildering Grace for a chance at that sweet, sweet EXP multiplier.
Nomad94 or get totally fucked by it and never get a EXP multiplier like me
You're forgetting the other EXP multipliers. I got EXP x5 a ton of times
According to the Japanese wiki it’s 0.1% for 100x EXP/JP and only possible with a full boost.
A list of gear used would be extremely helpful. Can we can that info?
The strongest ones. There's a video of where to get everything.
I really don´t like how Therion looks as a dancer. It´s just my opinion, thats the reason I put this job on Ophilia, She really looks Well!
You can't beat the one true God
Just beat this dude last night after about 8 tries.
Everyone bitching about spoilers, YOU searched for it, not the uploader.
Daughter of the Dark God looks pretty hawt
who the fuck dislike this, this is pure gold
Probably people who can’t get past phase 1. I haven’t gotten this far, so who knows. Maybe I’ll end up hating this so much that I decide to dislike (which is something I honestly never do).
Patience is too op
Honestly I think the sorcerer makes bosses look like a joke
And when you use a warmaster and a runeblade, you don’t need analysis anymore
finally beat this boss on 3rd attempt. My second team was too slow so i added +80 speed to them. Barely one shotted the boss with winny without breaking. 180k+. I think this was the hardest boss I every fought against. Phew! GG
I gave up on this boss when this game first came out. 6 years later I came back and beat him on the first try! Wasn’t easy by no means though 😂
I loved that there was actually a post game thing that tried to tie the stories together
I hate how vaguely hidden it is though
I love/hate the expositions logs that give you some last minute lore of Graham and some of the baddies, and the conspiracies (actually it reminded me of Kingdom Hearts/Star wars ROSW really what with having this one person behind most of others stories, but not really all that naturally through the game
I really dislike that there is ABSOLUTELY NO DIALOGUE FROK ANY OF THE CHARACTERS, no interactions on revelations, no AHA moments, no closure, nothing........WHY?!
