- They randomly decided to update Octopath Traveler 2 the other day and added additional fights against the original cast of Octopath Traveler 1! I had to try it out, and I also figured this would be cool to show off.

There's a lot more in these fights than what was presented, so I highly recommend trying them out. There was so much detail and love in these fights

i just love how they used playable character's effect against you, giving you a sight how powerful you are when playing the game, from changing classes, stealing items, boosting, etc.
and the fact that they're aware of every character's most OP class (especially Runelord Tressa) is kinda funny and threatening
IDk cause warlord Therion is his best and Tressa is more broken as a sorceror with her insane wind damage possible under sorceror. I think they could have done better displaying how powerful OT1 crew really is. This made them look like jobbers. Alfyn wasn't even concocting to refill teammate's BP constantly like someone playing OT1 would do. I get why they didn't use the op OT1 strats cause those would likely be unbeatable but they could have programmed the ai better and put characters in stronger class synergy setup.
@@dave9515 tbf runelord tressa dodging is both funnier and a more iconic strat, so I wouldn't have it any other way, I think they went for the most popular subclasses
9:10 Tressa went from "I dislike thieves" to "drain your entire savings" between games
She can also buy your weapon off of you if you don't rush her down immediately.

THEY GAVE TRESSA THE FREAKING RUNE KNIGHT SUBCLASS! THEY KNEW WHAT THEY WAS DOING!!!
In the first game when Tressa was paired with rune knight it was op and fun since she had a lot of support via using rest to heal HP and SP, sidestep to negate physical damage and to use each of the elemental runes as well.
NOW THIS TIME THE TABLES HAVE TURNED, we are the ones to fear one of the best pairings for a subclass, especially if you need to damage one of them before either Ophelia heals them or before the team gets their shield points.
Overall I think this is the best way to remember both how much fun and how much of a threat Tressa can be with rune Knight. Hope if they ever do a third Octopath traveler, they keep this one in as well with adding the second cast to making things interesting for the extra battles
Its so amazing for me personally because that's what I did when I first unlocked it.
I treated Tressa like my own daughter in that game.
The OT1 Crew is a representation of what Game Devs are capable of when they lock in
yo they got freaking COMBO SKILLS!?
If they ever think about making Octopath 3 then i really wish this becomes a key feature
I'm hoping this is them dropping hints for Octo 3's new mech
This feels like a COTC arena fight but instead of being forced to used weak COTC characters you get to use the Octopath 2 cast. A super cool surprise update.

edit: watched the whole video, both fights are insane
edit 2: tried those fights myself, need more prep for the 2nd traveler fight, because even tho items used aren't saved I do need those items in the first place in order to use them, and my mind won't let me use jams unless I have 99 of them

Are we not going to talk about Ophelia pulling the most Deus Ex Machina move and literally saying “Nuh uh” to all the work you did for the past 10 minutes. It’s so funny
And Primrose does the exact same thing. Devs evil as hell for that 😭
Hot take but I personally find stuff like that unnecessary. Just feels like padding and artificial difficulty.
@fabiodude88 what padding? It extras stuff if you want to do in the game... you don't have to do it to beat the game
@@sircadet9035 you misunderstand. I'm referring to the battle itself. Downing them only to have them res for a round 2 feels like they're just padding/ prolonging the fight unnecessarily
@@fabiodude88the things is each character has three "phases" and get different abilities each phase. The first phase is when you start the battle, the second phase is the job change, the third being when they rise again and revert to their original job, but more powered up. The "rise again" is to make sure the third phase begins simultaneously with all four foes, and so that the player cannot preemptively damage the third phase.
If I may add, the Rise Again is a Cleric passive as well. They just gave it a twist.

I just finished the bravely default II Halls of Tribulation for this!?!?
I had a playthrough (failed attempt, played it blindly) vs the 1st team.
I though I got them when I knocked out everyone, and then Ophilia rose again and revived everyone. I paused and was like "wtf was that???", and then I ended up with a game over. hahaha.
I've had dreams about this ever since OP2 was released

Nah it's very much outside of the lore stuff because you also get to fight harder versions of the final boss.

I defeat the both travelers fights using the same setup:
Thief Hikari
Merchant Castti
Warmaster Throne
Inventor Agnea
I started using Agnea skill Sealstige Seduction on Hikari, Castti boosting all team, Hikari using the Learning Skill "Divine Protection" (it makes you unvenerable to 4 hits) two times, so my team was basically unvenarable for 8 hits.
I constantly gives Forbidden Elixir to Thone (with Alpione's Amulet of course) + Aeber Reckoning to melt the travelers HP.
I also use the Learned Skill Chimera to make Hikari trows my powerful weapons on ALL TRAVELERS (pretty 60-90k damage)
Castti always using Hired Help Beastlings to destroy their shield points for safety.
I rely on Divine Protection/Sealstige Seduction/Hired Help/Chimera/Aeber Reckoning and Castti Latent Power to win this ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE FIGHT!!!

When did this happened 😮 like i already have beat the game never knew they brought over the octopath traveler cast how do you get this i even started a new game already
If you have a completed file, there’s a setting called Extra Battles you can enter and fight them in
It was just recently added in an update. So don't worry, you weren't unaware of it the entire time. Think it was to promote them releasing both games across all consoles.

Just beat them last night within 3 mins ( without any nuts )
They updated OT2 because of 1 getting added to Playstation and both games getting added to PC and Xbox.
Also, with this arena fighting the old cast, I can only imagine the horror if they make a OT3 and you challenge the cast from number 2 ☠
It’s weird because despite all the incredible new powers they gave you in OT2 the severe nerf to passive skills overall and the removal of some powerful tools mean the cast is weaker overall, so I would find it hilarious if the fight against the cast of OT2 was even more flashy but actually easier.
Despite all the flashiness the stuff they pull in this fight feels outright fair compared to COTC because your tools are so much better.
Not a criticism just observation, this fight is awesome.

This is freaking stupid. The mechanics of killing Ophelia first only for her to at the end rise again and immediately do a fully boosted revive is cheap and stupid. The devs bungled this and I won’t be playing the rest of these battles. So cheap and stupid waste of time. God I hate these devs they get close and always screw it up
