I credit Daft Punk for being my entry into a broader world of music beyond alt-rock. It's sad to hear they're splitting, but I am thankful for their influence on the music industry at large. Lowkey, I kind of consider the Future Funk scene a continuation of sorts for the unique mood that Daft Punk conveys. In the very least, I get the same vibe from the genre that I get from "Get Lucky." My answer to "what kind of music do you like?" has progressively gotten weirder, and I thank Daft Punk for that.
Thank you so much for your thoughts. I am the same as you that Daft Punk widened my horizons when it came to my taste in music as well. Before I mainly listened to Euro Trash types of techno but then discovered Daft. Thanks to them I loved going back in time and listening to older music while gaining a new appreciation of the growing techno scene. Future Funk is like a weird rebirth of a lot of Daft Punks earlier music and I love it for that same reason. I think it's great that your music taste could evolve so much thanks to them.
you are right on that tron legacy take ,lol. love the whole set of songs that was basically a Ieiji matsumoto movie. anyway sad to hear them breaking up but hopefully whatever they decided to do afterwards is just as cool. i'll be able to enjoy them in cameo in the best Megaman X Fan game
Howcome you and Gabe don't talk music more often? He, too, had thoughts on Daft Punk the other day and they were all wasted on me because I have no strong opinions about music or bands. He should have been talking to you. Also, once again, UA-cam has not been telling me when you post new videos and so here it is, lunchtime, and I'm catching up.
I didn't know he was into Daft Punk. I mean for a hot minute I felt alone on that island. Also, not sure why UA-cam is being a butthole on that because I have been on a upload roll. 🥐
@@starlantzer It's less that he's into Daft Punk, though I believe he does like them, and more that he is just a music person, in general. He likes to talk about music. We had tickets to Dead Can Dance for last March. I wanted to go because Agnes Obel was the opener and I love her. I was surprised he had wanted to go because I didn't know he was a fan of Dead Can Dance. Turns out, he's not, he just knows a lot about them and their music and their breakup and their get-back-together so he figured it would be good to see them in person. You know how I found out you were on an upload roll? UA-cam recommended one of your recent videos in the sidebar. I was all, "WTF? Ok, 1. I am subscribed and should have received a notification since they're turned on and everything and 2. OMG, just TELL me when the videos come out, don't make me find out through the rec bar! I hate you, YT. And then I hopped over to your channel and found eleventythousand new videos and punched YT in the face.
@@Syennide Oh that makes sense! I wouldn't mind talking about music with him. Ray and I normally just talk together about music we like and stuff we know. Also Ray also knows about Dead Can Dance. Ray says he knows a few of their songs and he knows the more Gothy of the Goth of their songs. YT sometimes needs a punch in the face.

Also, if you haven't find the album "Daft Club" there is some good God good music on it. It's people that had their own spin on their music. :D

I have also been holding back on wanting to make a dive into Interstella 5555 for years. I know way too much about these men.

@@Syennide Also just looked up Agnes Obel, Ray and I like her a lot. She sounds like a lot of music Ray listens to.
Don't give me any upbeat shit! This is sad! :'(
Look mister....It is sad...but maybe they wanted to move on. I would hate to be forced to do something I was done with.
