Best guitar channel on youtube
100%
I've just discovered this channel. Outstanding!
i don't know what's the best thing about you. the way in you describe how to play, the fact that you include everything on your website or just that we share similar taste in music and I find most of the lessons very interesting!
"I never travel far without a little Big Star"
whentherope No doubt. Alex gone to damn soon
Fellow Chiltonites ......Skinny , Medicine Hat , Alberta .
They.suck.....
Gotta love The Replacements!!
Just like Big Star, hugely influential, amazingly talented band that didn't get the props they deserved until too late
Alex Chilton is an underrated guitarist
you really nailed it. usually i’m very protective of this song, but you earned it
Oh love Big Star Thanks! The American Beatles. So sad they were so unknown.
So glad you’re back. Another great video. Thanks for all you do.
Great to see you back with one of my favourite songs Adrian, can't wait to see what you have in store!
Fantastic to see you! Your lessons and choice of tunes are always wonderful.
Your're the best. I love this song so much that it never fails to bring tears of joy to my eyes. Thanks for the lesson!
I have a musical ear and have spent hours wondering how this song was played.
Wow. Thanking you for unlocking the magic.
I am wholly unfamiliar with Big Star until now. Very glad to see a new lesson, and from your new studio!
You are a great teacher and you have very good taste. Thanks for sharing videos like this.
Glad your back !! Your lessons are some of my very favorites on UA-cam. Always straightforward and Spot On !
Great to see you back on again....Hope all is well with you
Thank you so much, I enjoyed every last second of getting to grips with song. So satisfying to play! I had not payed much attention to Big Star previously but thanks to this I have checked them out further and am now quite a convert. Best of all, as part of "rediscovering" vinyl, I acquired their "Radio City" album. I think its the most glorious thing and was rightly being featured as a classic in Fopps when I got my hands on my copy. I am never far away from playing this or listening the album.
Woo Hoo! Welcome back Adrian. I’ve wanted a proper lesson on this for years. Never was able get past the intro myself. Love Big Star. The production was lovely on all their stuff as well.
What a re-entrance (i'm so pumped by Big Star that i'm not worrying about using re-entrance as a word)!! Absolutely brilliant as always. Keep up the great work.
Love your lessons! Keep em coming.
Yay! Welcome back Adrian.
Woo hoo! Sublime song by wonderful teacher. So glad you’re back
Fantastic, love this song, great lesson / demo.
just discovered this! BEST Big Star Sept Gurls out there. you really opened it up for me! TY!
Great to see you back!!
Brilliant. Thanks much! Cheers. Happy you're back! More Smiths please.
Really glad you came back
One of my all time favorite bands. Great work man.
Great job and such a great band.
Great new video for a flippin great song. One of the most under rated bands ever.
OMG thank you! I wanted to learn this song so bad!! You're the best.
Everybody who chose to watch this should have given it a thumbs up. What's not to like? This was really helpful, thank you for posting it!
Thank goodness, you’re back!
Welcome back. New studio looks good
Glad you're back, Adrian. And with one of my favorite songs and a (new?) Strat! Sounds great and really suits the song well.
Loving the new setup Adrian. Great to see you back.
Spine-tingling perfect, Mate.
I was wondering where you were! Glad that you are back and with new studio and all. Cheers from Stockholm!
Great to see a notification from you... and you bare gifts for our viewing pleasure, Clever intro, classy AC30, boutique studio and a Strat.... whooohoooo!!!!
All great ways to Help Your Friends Recognise You.
Very well done, sir. Please consider producing more Big Star lessons.
You sir, are awesome. I have learned a lot from you. Thanks!!!
Good to have u back, like the new intro!
Thank you so MUCH. Love your playing...
You introduced me to Big Star just now. I’ve got some listening to do.
Glad your back
Well done! I really appreciate how you broke this down.
Wondering where you had got to Adrian great to see you back buddy !! Always enjoy your videos.
YESSSSS! Was wondering when you'd do some Big Star. Thank you. Love your channel.
Your (new?) intro: GREAT! Very creative. Loved this lesson.
Finally got time to sit down and work through this. Super accurate and clearly explained as ever. A lesson worthy of one of my favourite songs ever. Also liked seeing the gear you used at the end. Lovely sounding Strat. Time to drag my AC15 out of hiding I think.
I’m very happy to see you back, and what a great song to return with. Your choices are always so tasteful. May I suggest something by Swervedriver in the future? A breakdown of “A Change Is Gonna Come” from Mezcal Head would be particularly appreciated. Thank You for all you do!
Amazing video thank you! Accurate rendition of this great song
Thank you..great timing..I’m actually recording this tune...a bit heavier but I just love the fine, cool guitar playing on the track..reminds me of James honeyman-scott-ish...nice hearing u break it down thank you.🇺🇸❤️🇬🇧
I'd forgotten who anyonecanplayguitar was. But it's you! Welcome back. Great song pick
You are the best! Thanks
Glorious.
Very helpful - thanks!
Great lesson! I knew the version of "the bangles" sung by Michael Steele before the original by Big Star and Alex Clinton. The cover by The Bangles is very good, in the studio version the guitar solo is believed to be played by Russel "Rusty" Anderson who plays now with McCartney and it"s great!
Great stuff, as always! Big Big Big Star fan here. The Fender "Mandoguitar" is actually the Fender Electric Mandolin, made from the late '50s and into the late '60s/early '70s (sometimes referred to as a "Mandocaster", but that wasn't the actual model name). A bit of a novelty piece, but it definitely gets that "September Gurls" high octave overtone sound. Fender reissued them briefly 4-5 years ago or so. It's a short scale, octave-style 4 string instrument and sounds pretty cool.
With a new guitar, adryan? Beautiful strato!
Yay! Your back!
Welcome back, Adrian. You picked a great song to cover. Alex Chilton recorded an album with Alan Vega and Ben Vaughn titled "Cubist Blues" which is probably my fav thing he's done.
...great lesson....thank you sir 👍
Catching this one from Adrian a little late! Great song and great lesson!
Perfect '70's band to bridge the '60's to the '80's.
Yep. Missed you terribly. Good to have you back.
Adrian you are my favourite guitar teacher on UA-cam I find your videos so helpful please continue to make more :) I'd love if you could do some more smiths songs? Perhaps heaven knows I'm miserable now
An "O My Soul" lesson would be awesome...thanks for the great content.
Jourdan Redden yes sir!
Please!!
Yes!
Welcome back!
Nice to see you again, Adrian. Great choice for a lesson! Thank you UK for bringing Big Star to the US. Ironic...
Great to see you back! Love, love, love Big Star; Hiwatts seemed to be their thing. Definitely check out Bruce Eaton's swell 33 and 1/3 book on Radio City if you haven't already
Just the placing of the capos by Alex Chilton (and/or?) Chris Bell for their songs was a stroke of pop genius!! How you come up with such a thing, especially in Memphis 1974??
Chris Bell was already out by that time
Great song. So glad you did this song. Superdrag also cover this song and play the song in the key of D. Acoustic version. Alex Chilton inspired so many bands.
Hooray , he's back! great choice. Ballad of El Goodo next? . Please please do She Goes to Bed by Jason Falkner, if you don't know it, I promise you, you'll love it.
Born and raised in Memphis, yet I didn’t get turned on to Big Star until well into the UA-cam age. That’s how obscure this band was. If the vinyl had been on the shelves back in the day, it would’ve been a different story.
Jim "Memphis " Dickinson produced 13 and has an interview on U tube talking about Alex Chilton , well worth a listen . Also ties to Dan Penn who produced "The Letter " back in the day , a soul man if ever there was one .
Nice video been missing you on here
Tune!
How does one come up with such beautiful melodies?
talent. anyone can learn guitar. But.......
New home, new geetar? Lucky you :-)
YES!
Nice.
Outstanding. You really ARE the coolest guitar teacher on the net. Would love to learn O My Soul too
Your wish came true today
@@celyda2 indeed it did. Had no idea I even wrote that . . . Thanks for the reminder.
Oh man, you've gone and picked one of my favourite songs again. Love it!
Like the new look to the channel bro
nice super champ back there--a rare beauty
Big star ❤❤❤❤❤❤
can you do O, my soul?
Glad you’re back. What year is that strat of yours?
Used to record at Ardent in Memphis with Big Tent Revival… amazing studio and folks but the band house was haunted 😊
Adrian can you please do a Pixies song tutorial?
wow one of my favorite bands and songs holy crap thanks for this lesson. can you play the intro chords without the Capo or is the open E ( formed by the capo ) critical to the overall sound ? Peace !
Excellent breakdown! do you have a link or any more info on the John Fry interview with the Mando reference on September Gurls?
Thanks for lesson - I’ve never seen anyone breakdown the solo from made of stone by the stone roses could u tackle it please ?
Dig the new digs.
Good to see you again Adrian, is that a new guitar?
This is truly great. What kind of pedals/effects would you suggest to achieve that chiming crazy good tone of the original recording?
Adrian is so indie
I wonder if you could do some Replacements stuff, I know Bob Stinson was a bit erratic and less fine tuned
Now your back... Protex blues by the Clash. Go on, you know you want to...
Long time no see
