    Try planting sweet potatoes around your bananas. It will feed nitrogen to your bananas and help them grow faster, plus you can enjoy sweet potato greens on the side. :-) Looking good and best of luck to you!

    Thank you so much for the information. I'm in Coolidge AZ . I had 4 of these growing well in pots, one 8' tall. I planted them in the ground and they are all dying. Watered them well. Not sure what I did wrong. Maybe planted them to late in the year or too much water. I just bought more pups to try again in the spring. I might try the sweet potato planting that someone mentioned in another comment.

      I also found that transplanting is done best in the early fall or spring. If you did it now I bet it went into shock

      @@FruitTreeI guess I thought it would be ok because they were already growing outside in the containers and getting pot bound. I always seem to learn the hard way🤷

    I wanna marry Butters ngl... He's adorable, and so very sweet and kind, and when he says he'll do something, he does it, and he doesn't deserve all this trauma tbh, he deserves to fall in love and be whisked away from all that crazy fr.

    Yea I dug my corm up last year, got way to tall and was a hassle to keep them from toppling and they taste good but not as good as the other varieties

    • @FruitTree

      I agree they are good and kinda a novelty because of the blue fruit and the name.

    Where do you purchase your trees. I’ve found a bunch of dishonest nurseries in the valley. Thank you for sharing and we are hoping to plant a few more trees at our house and at our daughters house.

    • @FruitTree
      @FruitTree  3 роки тому +1

      It was so long ago I forgot. Its was tropica mango or green life. Some times its not even the nursery here in the valley its the supplier they get it from not being honest. I even had a comment on one face book group saying mine wasn't an icecream but by the taste and color I think they are incorrect.

      @@FruitTree wow and the bananas survive 6 degrees? thats incredible. I have a variety from the mountains of Costa Rica which supposedly do well in the cold (we just haven't had below 8 degrees Celsius yet) im looking at getting 2 of the blue banana this spring. have a great Christmas :)

    Didn't know blue java took 5 years to fruit. Our apple banana takes about 1.5 years from pup to cutting the bunch off. They grow to about 8 to 9 feet tall.

    How far apart should you plant different varieties? I want to plant 3 varieties, 2 regular 1 dwarf, and want to know if a 10x10 ft ground space (canopy room is no issue) will be good for three? Or should I stick with just 2?

    I'm scared to put my two banana trees in the ground: Ice Cream and Maduro. How big should the container be if I want to contain their underground system?

    • @FruitTree
      @FruitTree  3 роки тому +1

      Don't they get too tall for containers. In the ground is the best possible way.

    • @LadyGoza
      @LadyGoza 3 роки тому

      The location is 3 ft from my house foundation in the corner in a 7x5 ft triangular area behind the rose bushes. I’m afraid of the invasive underground root system.

    This is perfect. I am in nearby New Mexico. We have the same monsoon although for us I think we get a greater spread since we are more semi-arid then you guys.
    I was considering growing this in Cruces area. Zone 8a. Permaculture with Citrus trees with woodchip mulch and coffee grounds. Any general tips of getting the most and protecting from the monsoon?
