These men are competing for the title "Mr. Olympia." They are supposed to look like Greek Gods. But if you asked a sculptor to make you a statue of Ares or Zeus and they carved one of these men, would you be satisfied that they had captured the ideal of male beauty and perfection? bodybuilding was an art back in 70s and 80s. All the famous bodybuilders of that time looked like a poetry in flesh. well developed body parts having the symmetry from head to toe. Pleasing to watch, looked as a flowing stream but now a days these lab mutants are disgracing the very platform where the old school bodybuilders walked as greek gods
It's not the judges today who decides upon the best bodybuilder but the supplement companies which lobbies n bribes so heavily that judges forgets what they are here for.

Dolph Ziggler-Lundgren Yes, the top 3-4 of the top 6 had guts. So, all the hate on anyone is undeserved. Ramy had a gut and it seems that his camp taught and worked with him all year to help him learn to control it more. But, let's not pretend it wasn't there OR when he turned around to show his back he looked the same as Phil. The ONLY top guy who I didn't see a guy on was Bonac. All the remarks and BS comments should (if the guts bother you that much) say BONAC should have won no questions. And, politics yes, but Bonac speaks great English. A MUST to win the O. The IFBB has the Mr O go speak in many countries and the majority either speak or understand English. This is very important to keep in mind. Ramy is improving his English, but he isn't fluent enough to win. Next year or the year after perhaps. But, keep in mind if Phil comes in with no gut he will win. He has such a complete and detailed package not 1 guy is able to stand with him. And don't sleep on the young guys like Compton. He had some medical issues as Nick mentioned in a previous video, but his instagram shows he is now starting to add his size back. He has time to do it right too. Not just up his gear and walk on stage at 270+ of a sloppy mess. Many have said that in a year or two everyone at the O will have to deal with him and Dallas. Sadly, Dallas passed, RIP. But, Compton too has been tagged a future O winner by multiple top people in the sport. Meaning Ramy and Phil, Bonac, Dex and Rohden (if he fixes his issues) will have to watch out for a guy like Compton soon. He is very similar to Jay, with a smaller waist. The big knock on Jay was always his blocky waist...Compton doesn't have that, he has huge body parts connected to a smaller waist than Ramy. And I'll go out on a limb and say his next show he will be very close to Ramy's size, with a tighter waist and more detail. Seeing he already was 1-2 spots off Ramy's placing as a rookie last year at the O.

I've never been the biggest bodybuilding fan, I admit. But what Arnold has said in many interviews on the subject resonates with me pretty heavily. To me, the goal for this sport has always been to showcase the " perfect " body, one that when everyone looks at these guys would say. " I want to look like him. "
And honestly, there's literally no aspect of anyone bodybuilding today that I would say is something I want to have. The bodies from Arnold's era are much more in line with what I would look for if I wanted a muscular physique. They look healthy and strong, not like some juiced mongoloid who went crazy on the steroids/injections to inflate themselves into what I feel is a very astute description of a " Ninja Turtle." It's almost comical and disgusting how bloated they are. I don't see how today's bodybuilding is the norm now.

I dont know when size became such a big priority but it seems like its taken over these competitions. Look, i understand these people work hard to get massive, but theres no consideration as to symmetry or proportions, these finalists are just huge, and the gut just comes from that. There needs to be a better emphasis on the look we want, not to represent strength or power, but to represent the ideal body humankind is capable of. Thats what body building was about when i was a kid.

You use insulin after working out, it keeps your pump from going away by stopping the catabolic process. So when you hit the gym the next day, you are still mostly pumped up from the day before. That's why it's used anyway, not the negative consequences which I guess is the big gut.

The fact that Heath has a bubble gut at all should have cost him the title. There is no way the IFBB should ever endorse a winner who carries a bubble gut of any size. The win then should have gone to Ramy regardless of the rest of his shortcomings. These kinds of wins tell me the judges don't know what they are doing. It's a contest of having the *best* overall physique. There is no way you should ever be considered having *the best* anything with a bubble gut. In fact, the Olympia should automatically disqualify any contestants with a noticeable bubble gut before they ever step on stage. Seriously, just set some basic ground rules here. Unfortunately, just like the Academy Awards who pick winners based on factors other than being the best, I no longer trust the IFBB to run this contest. Of course, this is par for the IFBB course considering the IFBB still allows contestants to use steroids leading up to the contest.

It's the pregnant belly division, Phil, Ramy, Dexter, Shawn...they all had one.
While Ramy definitely had a gut, it was controlled most of the time. In that sense, it was sort of like Phil's gut in 2016, when it was mostly controlled but still plainly there. The difference though is that Phil's gut constantly looked like on the verge of spilling out this time. The moments he could really keep in check were quite rare.

None of these physiques are aesthetically pleasing. In my opinion not every area should be MAXED out. The thighs and glutes for instance are so incredibly BLOATED that are constantly taking the eye away from important areas in the upper body. Arnold said it best when he compared himself to a sculptor. A little more here, a little less there.

This is not bodybuilding anymore! The sport has lost whatever respect it had. It's sick considering that 80% of most sports (Incl bodybuilding) relies on performance enhancing drugs. The side effect of excess HGH is a bubble gut! So if they can use drugs to enhance they should be able to find a drug to get rid of bubble gut (intestinal distention). I think all drugs should be legal and taxed. No bodybuilder deserves to be a Mr O with a bubble gut. Arnold never had one. Zane never had one. Seriously. Geez

I used to love bodybuilding, but this shit today is disgusting. Who in there right mind would want a body like these? A bloated steroid gut, and you can't even wipe your own ass. Sounds awesome.
