How many times do I have to say the bodybuilding criteria doesn’t change. Just cause Samson isnt super pealed doesn’t mean they aren’t favoring conditioning. Hadi was way smaller than him with worse shape and almost won because of conditioning alone. Samsons shape and size was so good that he surpassed everyone. It’s about the big 4, size, shape, balance AND conditioning.

I like that Samson is the Champ. He’s out there being a professional bodybuilder. He does multiple shows a year instead of just the Olympia. I think the days of winning the Olympia and then just resting on that show are over. This is a very smart move for bodybuilding imo. As a fan who was done with the same old same old formula and barely paid attention to the sport, the last few years has definitely reignited my interest. Definitely hope they keep this direction going!!!
It’s honestly pretty crazy how the top Olympia guys, especially the winners, are not competing in at least a couple more shows throughout the year.. cause it’s an easy 50-100k more money each year.. like how Samson was in a smaller show.. they’d win easily.. they don’t even need to come in at 100%.. i wouldn’t say it’s super easy money.. but I think it’s easy enough.. especially when u consider how short their careers are.. wouldn’t u try to make the best of it? Derek JUST lost the title and was going through so many emotions. He was still processing it (anger, sadness, defeat ) while still trying to stay true to his character. Most of us wouldn't have anywhere near that level of control. Media always captures moments to sway peoples minds. He needs to dig deep and fight for the title back. In recent years I questioned the point of 212 when people like Derek and Hadi moved and dominated open, even had Shaun doing some open shows. Where as with Samson now winning the open, it feels like open again, and Keone winning 212, to me the categories actually feel unique again. With Samson as Mr O and maybe the “new criteria” of size and shape, it may make 212 more interesting with less moving if they can’t compete with that size.
Looking at the score cards: Mike 9,9 Urs 15,15 Ramon 20,20. Looks like Urs and Ramon weren’t even close to Mike’s score. Mike is most likely to win next year.
That’s not how bodybuilding works. All that shows is that on the day, the judges all agreed on the placings. Mike was nowhere last year and that could easily happen again….same way Wesley was nowhere at the O.
Last years Mike had difficulties to come in peeled. This year he nailed condition & this is the outcome. Like ramy didnt nail his conditioning before and after he was winning the O, thats why he lost and vice versa

Mike has been improving every year moving up in placings, the others have a track record of being up and down in placings. Safe to say Mike is likely to take it, although the other guys could win too, but not as likely.

Dereck is a great body builder as well as Hadi both are;it seems judges in the open division are going in the direction of bigger body builders, Ronnie and Cuttler style... it means more of everything. Be real man. No one is close enough to Mike Sommerfeld to beat him next year if he comes in 100%. Of course he can mess up on his conditioning and lose that way, but it isnt happening any other way if he competes next year. Mike has all the structural advantages.
He has stated he learned to do less...infact only a combination of what works at specific levels based on blood work and cosmetic results that his body react well to

The thing with classic is that competition throughout the top 10 is so much closer than in open. The fact that everybody is at the top of their weightcap makes it even harder to stand out and it all comes down to your look on stage and how you peak your physique and present it on day x. That´s why it can switch so easily because even if you are just 10% off you will easily drop 5 places. In someone in the top 3 was a bit off they would just be beaten by Martin (this year) and that´s it
For me Derek is beginning to sound like a spoilt brat using religion as an excuse or things to Hide behind isn’t the way forward he probably just didn’t get it right on the day it’s that simple

I like that Samson is the Champ. He’s out there being a professional bodybuilder. He does multiple shows a year instead of just the Olympia. I think the days of winning the Olympia and then just resting on that show are over. This is a very smart move for bodybuilding imo. As a fan who was done with the same old same old formula and barely paid attention to the sport, the last few years has definitely reignited my interest. Definitely hope they keep this direction going!!!
It’s honestly pretty crazy how the top Olympia guys, especially the winners, are not competing in at least a couple more shows throughout the year.. cause it’s an easy 50-100k more money each year.. like how Samson was in a smaller show.. they’d win easily.. they don’t even need to come in at 100%.. i wouldn’t say it’s super easy money.. but I think it’s easy enough.. especially when u consider how short their careers are.. wouldn’t u try to make the best of it? Urs said that he wont compete until the olympia. He said that the prep for the olympia was really hard for him because hes basicsally never had a real recovery period since his olympia debut.

Derek JUST lost the title and was going through so many emotions. He was still processing it (anger, sadness, defeat ) while still trying to stay true to his character. In recent years I questioned the point of 212 when people like Derek and Hadi moved and dominated open, even had Shaun doing some open shows. Where as with Samson now winning the open, it feels like open again, and Keone winning 212, to me the categories actually feel unique again. With Samson as Mr O and maybe the “new criteria” of size and shape, it may make 212 more interesting with less moving if they can’t compete with that size.

Looks like Urs and Ramon weren’t even close to Mike’s score. Mike is most likely to win next year.
That’s not how bodybuilding works. All that shows is that on the day, the judges all agreed on the placings. Mike was nowhere last year and that could easily happen again….same way Wesley was nowhere at the O.
Last years Mike had difficulties to come in peeled. This year he nailed condition & this is the outcome. Like ramy didnt nail his conditioning before and after he was winning the O, thats why he lost and vice versa

Be real man. No one is close enough to Mike Sommerfeld to beat him next year if he comes in 100%. Of course he can mess up on his conditioning and lose that way, but it isnt happening any other way if he competes next year. Mike has all the structural advantages.

The thing with classic is that competition throughout the top 10 is so much closer than in open. The fact that everybody is at the top of their weightcap makes it even harder to stand out and it all comes down to your look on stage and how you peak your physique and present it on day x. That´s why it can switch so easily because even if you are just 10% off you will easily drop 5 places. In someone in the top 3 was a bit off they would just be beaten by Martin (this year) and that´s it
