When I first spotted in their shop that Olight had done an LED strip I thought, "What the actual F...?" - OK, here we go again, Olight take yet another cheap piece of junk, slap their branding on it and there we go... oh, and it has to be controlled through a phone too, so even less impressed.
Now, I have some of the Amazon-typical RGB LED accent lighting kits in my home already, and I have a high-end gaming PC with the very capable Aquasuite controlling my RGB in that, so I'm already pretty well-off as far as all the myriad disco lighting and unicorn puke options go for stuff..... But I have to say that, after watching your video and seeing the immense range of options and customisations, Olight have actually scored a major victory with this thing - It's bloody brilliant!!!

does it work well with the app? i have 2 spheres and they are constantly forgotten or unable to be found by the app
@CaptinWesker0713 It's doing ok, just low max brightness on DIY mode still, which is frustrating.
What is particularly impressive about this device is the use of an app installed on the phone to control the LED strip's glow modes. I wonder if there are flashlights with this method of controlling the modes? It is much more convenient to control the operating modes via an app than, for example, to use multiple presses of a button on the flashlight. Almost every flashlight has a USB port. What prevents flashlight manufacturers from using the USB port not only for transmitting electricity, but also for transmitting data? The same applies to using sound to control the modes or indicate the status of the flashlight. It makes no sense for a headlamp to notify about the battery level with a light indicator, while a sound signal would be appropriate. Or, for example, it would be easier to find a flashlight in the dark if it could turn on when exposed to a certain sound, say, clapping your hands or whistling. All this is possible to implement with the current level of technology.
The WUBEN A1 came with a remote control, think I've seen cheap and nasty disco type flashlights lights that have an app.
The thing is that good quality flashlights are not equipped with a sufficiently intelligent mode control system. There are many interesting features that are not required by all users, but can be useful in certain situations. For example, such parameters as brightness in the lock mode when pressing the button. Usually it is low. And there is no way to adjust this parameter, although this would give the flashlight a very useful property. Or operating modes associated with real-time timers, such as turning on at a certain time, a sequence of flashes, and the like. It is possible to list such features for a very long time, but all of them are implemented through software in the best way. It is also worth considering that flashlight lovers will be happy to update firmware, use custom options, as happens with other electronic devices. People sometimes customize their device more often than they actually use it. It is strange that flashlight manufacturers have not caught this trend.

Just a quick question, say you don't need the whole 16 feet of cable - can you use scissors to cut off the excess or would that damage the lights? Now I don't need to buy it, just replay your vid on my screen (erm never). I didn't notice that it simulated a real coal fire which is probably the best light ever since the stone age but maybe I'm just an old and cold luddite. I'm sure somebody will cover their whole house with these like Las Vegas.

Seems happy so far with a right-angle bend! OLIGHT kinda don't encourage bending though.

Really cool light strip! Just got mine yesterday! I have noticed though that any diy scenes I've tried to make only light up at about 10% brightness 😕 Even with brightness obv set to max it's still really dim! Have you noticed this yourself or did I get a bogey? 😂

I have my Olight strip connected but can’t get it to connect to my phone I have the app and click the plus to find it but nothing pops up , what else should I try ?
It’s really Low Tech compared to Philips Hue, LifX and even Govee which my house is full of
But for people who are new to this type of light then it’s probably a good way to start and the price is pretty cheap too 👍🏻

If you have to depend on the app and the phones microphone that means your phone is out of action and always on for any of the sound dependant patterns. Goveee RGBIC strips use their own microphones built into the controller which is infinitely more convenient.
Only 3 modes use the fone mic, 6 use the Ostrip's mic
