Great advice! Thank you for answering questions so thoroughly. I agree, I would move forward and look for other events.

It's a tough decision, especially if it's a generally good event besides that factor... but communication with the Organizer is a REALLY important factor.

Great show! I love that last display and what a great inspiration to custom build from. My only concern would be wind gusts blowing it over, but that can be figured out in the design process. Thanks for another great video!

Good on ya for thinking of the "what if's" with weather conditions. Always good to think ahead before rolling out a major gameplan like this setup. I believe this would likely only be for an indoor setup because of the elements like you mentioned and also for durability purposes as well.

I’m doing an overhaul of my online shop so I won’t be starting back with vendor events until spring. If the pop-up booth idea is feasible, I might be able to have several iterations of it…maybe a table with the just awning and then the shelving type of display.
I’ll definitely check with the event coordinator to see what’s acceptable though.
I’m excited to keep progressing with my booth and see what works and doesn’t work.
Thanks again John for your professional opinion; I appreciate it!

I wouldn't want to vend at an event that treated applicants like that (the juried one you discussed first). But also, I would want to go to the show once it happens as a consumer, and talk to the vendors when you get the chance, ask they what they thought of the event organization and organizers. See if it was just your bad vibe or if it's an overall one. And then maybe try again next year, depending on how you feel.

Tremendous comment! Getting feedback from the Vendors is something all potential future Vendors should do at a show if possible.

With the flea market type of booth that you rent, often, you can get a reduced rate by working in the store for so many hours a week.

With the wholesale fulfillment, you want to give yourself enough time to build up the inventory without wasting money, sitting in boxes and paying for storage. So give yourself 4 to 6 weeks for delivery. Which would probably give you a whole lot of spare room to finish up what You need to get done.

LOVED that booth display. Would it be possible to change it up and make the bookcases shorter so they could be on top of the table, but still with the canopy over top. (think the canopy makes all the difference to the display) That might be an option that more organizers would be willing to accept.

Yeah that might be key to making this work with many Organizers is showing the ability to make it in a way where it can be set up in a couple different ways. Maybe the full display similar to what we see in the photo, but then also a scaled-back setup that still has personality, but one that could work for all Organizers and situations.

Mini shows in my area, require the vendor to have liability insurance themselves, and not rely on the shows insurance.

Same way in my area - I'd say in the last 5 years or so, things have gotten a little more "formal" in that regard.

Last November I got a message about paying for a booth for a show in two weeks! 10:12 Came out of the blue because I never heard
back from the organizers. They said the application was a contract so I paid and attended. Possibly I used my work email although my personal one was on the application. But still not having payment months ahead was unprofessional of them. Won’t return next year. And I noticed quite a few no shows.

Scrambling at the last minute can be really tough, sometimes an impossible situation. It's one thing if you're on some kind of "in case of cancellations" waitlist, but there seems to be a lot of vendors mentioning things that show me they're being left in the dark with communication. It has a nasty domino effect that has a negative impact on a lot of things. I'm going to make note to address this during the upcoming Organizer series.

Some of the larger jury shows get egotistical. I was part of one many years ago that was run by a Chamber of Commerce and it was at the local community college, and was a two day event that drew thousands and thousands of people. This is in a city of 12,000 people. Samples had to be sent to be juried. And they were extremely picky about who got in and who did not. Basically it was a small town, however, vendors came from the entire state and even from a neighboring state, the show was that large. We ran the concessions for a couple years in that show and we were making coffee in 5 gallon plastic containers that we ruled to the showers in the locker room below the gym to fill.

Great tips, I am a vendor and I usually apply to multiple vendor events so I have options and I have not been accepted to some that I reallly wanted to be a part of, I was contacted by the serious organizers to participated in the ones that wanted me there. It's a lot of vendor events out there that would love to have you. Jon how do we leave questions to be answered, I would love to leave a question.
