I made a boo boo. I didn't realize there is a 50 element limit on Carrds free plan. I've been on their paid tier for awhile now so this was an oversight on my part, (their limit also used to be 100 rather than 50). I will say, that their Pro Lite plan is only $9/year and that will remove the element limit, but if you're not looking to upgrade, here is what I recommend: 1. Remove the arrows and scroll points (reduce by up to 10 elements). 2. Remove any supplemental divider lines (reduce by up to 21 elements). 3. Simplify your project write-up pages. Don't include too many elements or re-direct them to GitHub and include the write-up in your README (reduce by up to 30+ elements). Making even just some of the changes mentioned above should keep you below 50 elements. I'm very sorry for this!
You must have to play the disclaimer first. I followed your video at 0.25X to understand every single talk but now i face 50 element issue. That so regretful that you got sponsored from platform and audience watch your video at the end followers suffered in premium scam !
Wow! Thank you for putting up this video. I have been looking for something like this until someone recommended this video and this has given me the solution I need
Thanks for the video Mike. I am in the middle of creating a portfolio website so this video came to me in the perfect time. It gave me lots of inspiration.
Great video on creating a data analyst portfolio! It's super helpful for someone like me looking to break into the field without a technical background. I use the free Plerdy on my site to track how my projects resonate with visitors, which really helps refine what works best. 👍 Thanks for the clear and easy-to-follow guide!
Thank you! Glad this was helpful. Plerdy is a great tool for capturing those metrics! I've used Hotjar in the past for the same purpose, which is a fairly similar tool :)
Just found your channel. Thanks for this video, I need to work on a portfolio. As an amateur videographer I have to say your lighting, filming & video editing are excellent, also you're great at talking to the camera. New subscriber, keep up the great work!
From someone who stumbled on your video from search: I think we have different definitions of what "from scratch" means in terms of website development. To me that means a blank HTML, JS, and CSS file and going from there. I'm glad others find this useful, though.
I haven't finished the video yet, I got to the 50 element limit issue. I cringed, and saw your workaround. Then I thought to myself, for reals how silly am I. If you are willing to buy 2 gallons of gas, 2-3 coffees, or 1.5 L bottle of cheap white wine, but you won't spend $9 a year to create a possibly life changing career portfolio, you should just stop and ask yourself if you're serious or not. Thanks for the walk through. Thanks for the honesty of catching your mistake. I'd rather pay $9 annual for something slick looking because github is great but it's ugly AF for non techie types.
Appreciate you sharing this. Even though the original intent of the video was to recommend something that's completely free, $9 a year is one of the best deals out there. Sometimes you have to spend a bit to get access to the best resources. Thanks again!
Hi Mike! Your videos have been very helpful for me. When adding projects to your portfolio, can you provide advice on projects that you worked on in a company? Most of my projects have been with the company I work for, and I am pretty sure I can not add screenshots due to confidentiality. Did you work on your own projects and add them?
Hi Matt, thanks for this guidance. What do I put on my employment history if I was never a data analyst and trying to land my first data analyst role? I have been a truck driver for the past 10 years between 2-3 employers. I've been studying everyday and sitting for the datacamp data analyst exam in December, then probably start compiling projects to put on carrd. Hope to hear from you. Thanks, Dan
Make up for the lack of relevant employment history by creating a projects section. Show about 3 of them and treat them like you would work history. Still put your most recent work history and describe the overlapping skills where you can, but you don't need to be exhaustive about prior experience if it's not super relevant or you don't have a ton of it. Hope that helps!
Hi Matt, on the certification section , I can add an image to the lest column, then add a text but can not drag this to the 2nd column of the container. Please advise. Thanks.
Great Content MATT! I'm having a problem however, ALL my projects are showing on the full home screen of the site, and not diverting after you click "MORE"; I've played around with the "section break" but to no avail. Did I miss a step??
All you should need to do is place your section break above the section you're referencing and then put the # name of the section break as the URL for the button that's navigating to it. Let me know if that doesn't work!
Thank you so much sir. I just found your channel. And i really love this video. The carrd platform user interface is also easy to use. I've been looking for an easy platform for a while now, and just when i found one, i'm stucked on the way, because of the 50 element limit. I'm just building my data analyst portfolio for the first time to get an internship job in data analysis. I dont know if you can suggest other free and easy to use platform for me. I will really be very grateful.
Glad this was helpful! Sorry about the element limit issue though. If you’re unable to upgrade at this time, then I’d suggest a platform like Maven Analytics. Their Maven Showcase is a free and easy to use portfolio platform. Hope that helps!
Hey there, I realized this mistake post-video. I added some suggestions to workaround this issue in my pinned comment above. I'd also check out many of the other templates they have on their platform. Some of those might be more suitable for less characters, but this video can still help teach navigating the design features.
@@HazemMostfa-ov5bo I'm sorry, I'm not sure how to help. It could be that the email needs to be confirmed but other than that I'm not sure. Perhaps try contacting Carrd if you're able. So sorry to hear that.

@raja.57 this wasn't sponsored. Been a fan of Carrd for years is all. Just an honest mistake on my end. I’m sorry about that.
I tried it. It is so smart but I can't get the pro version because I can't afford it. Is there any possibility of getting the pro freely? Thanks
Hi, can you guarantee that we can make this website completely with Pro Lite package?
Wow!
