front lines. Training dogs for the police is nothing new, and they’ve aided them in countless
cases. Alas, some crooks and criminals will go so far as to attack a K9 unit in an attempt to

I’m a dog lover too. I also knew a K9 officer and his handler. K9s go home with their handler and become part of their family. They are the officers “child” but they are also a respected Officer and partner. The bond is tremendous.

I am a former police officer and our officers were trained in pressure point defense. There is a pressure point under the shoulder blade that when pressed would make the adjoining arm instantly go limp. I really wish other departments would adopt this training. it would make subduing suspects markedly easier.

@@2diamondnores Yes, several. My comment wasn't directed at the K9 unit. It was directed at the issue of the man refusing to relax his arm so the officer could subdue him. A light touch on the pressure point would have made his arm go limp and the officer would be able to apply the handcuffs.

When I was home alone with Frank, a stranger went up to the door and tried to open it, I told Frank that we didn't know that person and frank ran to the front window and started barking, the man ran off and we never seen him again, good thing a had a dog.😂❤

Funny story from 2014. My one interaction with a police dog confused the hell out of the officers.
They were responding to a scene involving someone else (never got the specifics on what the call was about) and I just happened to be there from walking around town.
I think the dog and I both misunderstood the situation because the dog tried to bite and I thought he was just being playful so I gave him praise.
Having grown up with big dogs, you get used to rougher play so it didn't seem out of place. Thankfully I had my jacket to cushion the arm.
It resulted in this awkward moment where the police weren't sure if they should arrest or not. I miss small towns.

Not every cop keeps or treats their retired canine partner well. Sadly. Poor dogs though, wish they could all have bulletproof vests and more protection.

I have a german shepherd an she is absolutely amazing so loyal, protective an loving. I do want to get a mal pup but they are even more hard work then a gsd so not sure I could handle that breed I have had lots of different breeds but I am looking at getting a rotty pup next. My last dog who passed from old age was a rotty again the best dog ever he got given to me for um protection an he done his job an kept the ex out of the yard an from breaking in when we were asleep had him for only a week an he chased him out of the yard my dog got a nice piece of steak an a bone the next day 🤣. I have to say this- I love how the dog is still just a dog. It shows that they do take care of these dogs and give them actual time and love to be actual dogs and not working like a robot. I'm saying this because in the exact first case, the dog made the officer that was holding his leash go around in a circle which is helarious because my bestie had a dog and did that alot along with so many other dogs.
