That animation scene where the short player jumps super high is actually animated by Takashi Mukouda, a famous animator in the industry. He has a very unique style that can be seen at first as a bit weird because he exagerates the proportions a lot, but he is a master in flow and dynamism. Some animators are even called in as guests and do just 1 scene, sometimes its because their style is very fitting for the episode, sometimes they just say "go have fun and do something cool af" It's becoming more standard to have special key animators for certain scenes now in Haikyuu, since it is also becoming more common in the industry overall. These types of sequences are called Sakuga, and it can be a bit frustrating to see massive changes in artstyle between two scenes sometimes.

From my perspective, here is what I think Atsumu means by Kageyama being a goody-two shoes. From the start of the series, we see him on the other extreme end where he pays no heed to his teammates and sets them really fast sets that they can’t hit, which led to the moment where no one jumps for his set. This obviously freaks him tf out and he becomes more conscious about setting balls that are easier to hit to his spikers. Compounded by the fact that Oikawa, his idol/rival, is known for setting balls that his hitters want/like. This isn’t necessarily bad but its also not the best because this makes both Kageyama and his teammates complacent if they both “settle” for the easy to hit ball. Just because a ball is easy to hit, does not mean it is the best ball the spiker can hit at that moment. Thus, a goody-two shoes setter for bending over to please his spikers too much. Atsumu wants Kageyama to challenge the spiker to their utmost limit to meet his sets whilst still keeping the set’s height and speed within the hitter’s ability.
He probably took Oikawa's advice about "giving the spikers the sets that they need" a bit too far, spurred on by his negative experiences with that first "king" extreme. It's further highlighted by that quick midgame flashback with Oikawa and KIndaichi back from S2, where Oikawa listened to Kindaichi's feedback but still decided to push him some more, getting the desired results in the end. Both Oikawa and Atsumu seem quite balanced on this front, if somewhat differently.
Oikawa gives his spikers the sets they want, but he still gets them to perform better -- for example Kindaichi's cross being one ball's width further iirc. Atsumu is the same, but his approach is more... direct? The same results, but less babying? It's obvious that Kageyama would swing to the opposite extreme, so this confrontation with Atsumu was necessary because otherwise Karasuno is a bit too friendly for critiques.
Yeah 100%. Kags overcorrected. At first he made it too hard for the hitters and now he's in the other extreme of making it too easy for them. Pretty impressive too that Atsumu was able to pick that up so quickly without ever having seen or met Kageyama before the camp.
@@playmaker619 Atsumu's sets are simultaneously customized to the hitter *and* bring out the hitters full potential (Kags only does the former ever since he isn't the "king" anymore). Atsumu's riding that fine line, where the hitters have to put in the work to hit his sets but are also thriving off of them, if they do that. That's why Atsumu said that "anyone who can't hit my tosses just sucks", because that just means they slacked off and don't live up to their potential. If you have to push yourself just enough to hit a toss and then hit it perfectly? That just feels good. That's why the coaches said that the hitters who hit Atsumu's tosses, look like they've improved and why the hitters who spike his tosses feel good about themselves. His setting style is perfect for when he's amongst people who give volleyball their all.
"take it easy" it's a masive thing, it sound like a very simple advice but trust me, it's masive in a game where the level is so high and everything feels really stressful ✨✨✨

As someone who has watched anime for so many years with budgests ranging from insane to 2 dollars and a dream, my suggestion to people who are reactors and thus mostly watch the high budget huge ones is to stop thinking about the animation itself the less you think about it the less it matters specially because this is still great compared to the things you'd see in the wild
@@ssjgoku276 not really the reason per se, because I'm sure they can invite more than one libero, but yes Komori takes the cake because I'm pretty sure Komori didn't start off as a libero so he has experience in offense plays and is a better all rounder. Also as we later learn Noya can't deal well with overhands and whoever was scouting must've noticed.
The animation wasn't "off" in 6:40 actually, in impactuful scenes studios gives the work to key animators to make it good. Some directors allows for more freedom, enabling the key animator to change a bit of the character design and focus less on realism and more on abstract movements. This is what you are seeing here, it can look strange if you used to the normal Haikyuu standard but you will se it a more of it during season 4 since the team is not the same from previous seasons and they are aiming for a more floaty style of animation. The problem in season 4 comes with the production itself which allowed for some episodes to be rushed and we get a mess of a end result.
