      yay! glad this was your fix, and better yet, doesn't cost anything. Now you can fix your buddies cars for a fee when theirs act this way.

    Very informative video you've made here. I'll have to give these tips a try. I have a 2010 xb with 196,500 well maintained miles.
    My issue that led me to searching for a remedy is that a few days ago while running some errands is that after several short trips of shutting the car off and starting again is the traction control, vsc control and check engine indicator lights all came on in the dash. I really didn't notice any difference in the engine performance but I took the car to O'Reilly and had them scan the OBD 2. Nothing relative to the traction control or vsc sensors was indicated but there was a code relative to the catalytic convertor performance falling below specs. 420 or 402 something like that. I took the car home and disconnected the negative battery terminal and reconnected it in an effort to clear the system of those service lights. They went away but then my idle also fell to 400 rpm. Seems peculiar my idle was normal before but disconnecting my battery changed the electronic idle setting.
    I'll try your tips and reach back out with an update. 👌

      yeah the p0420 code for catalytic performance doesn't set the abs/traction control lights, typically that will go off for a glitchy wheel speed sensor or steering angle sensor.

      @@joyofwrenching thank you. This was actually the 3rd time in about a year or so this light sequence came on and I probably did have some wheel skipping.
      This was the 1st time I elected to try and clear the codes myself. They went out on their own 1st couple of times.

      Might need to do an ETB reset for a Toyota 06-12.

      @@munozrandolph Actually, all I ended up doing was disconnected the negative side battery cable to reset and that did the trick. 👌🤞

    We used idle low for a better cam sound.

    My 2013 scion tc does this and nothing fixes it. After idle reset it idles at 750 for 2 days, but then goes right back to 500 whereby it tries to stall at a stop because the idle is too low. It's got to be something electrical or in the programming. I need a good scanner that will allow me to manually set the idle I think.

    • @Lw2201
      @Lw2201 2 місяці тому

      Also it's worth noting, after I do the idle reset procedure, all the idle and shift points are 200-250 rpm higher. Idle in park is ~900, in drive with foot on brake is 750, with ac on is also 750. But then after 2 days it goes back to ~740 in park, 500 in drive with foot on brake, but if I turn on the ac it never drops below 750. If I pull up to a stop without the ac on it tries to stall due to low idle. Ac keeps it at correct idle for some reason and idle reset only fixes it for a couple days. And it's been that way its whole life.

    I did exactly this, I also clean all the other sensors and also change the spark plugs, ignition coils, also I used a fuel injector cleaner and the car has the same problem, I don't know what else to do. 😔

      if all else fails, and in a last resort, there's a screw that sets how far the throttle blades can close. most of the time it is locked so you cannot adjust it, but you can figure out a way to make it leave the throttle plate open just a little more if you dig into it

      @@joyofwrenching thanks man, I also saw in a different video a guy changed the purge valve and I'm trying that tomorrow 🤞
