Dude! I have the tick you didn’t talk about. It sounds like a ticking clock. It’s in the video from 2:23 to 2:27 after he gets that thing unplugged. It’s the tick that ticks about 6-7 times, like a clock. WHAT IS THIS NOISE! Thank you!!!🙏🏻 PS- it’s not the fast tick noise that the man in the video is trying to focus on. It’s the back noise tick.
BEST. Explanation on UA-cam..thank you
Thank you Brian!
If nothing works to keep the temp gauge at the middle mark, my issue was a blown head gasket . It kept putting air in my system and drove me nuts because the jeep ran perfectly and no indication of a blown head gasket
Oof, hate that for you man, but glad you finally got it figured out!
At 34:28 you can see the purge on the thermostat housing that your holding , the old one has the plastic screw looking round plug, looks like a Philip head screw, be very careful it breaks very easily if u tighten it to much.. always have spares on hand they sell them by themselves ..
Good tip, thanks!
I was saying thermostat out loud! 😂 I knew the min u felt one of the radiator hoses was cold
Those simple old school techniques and understanding how a system works are golden. Wish I were better with them myself.
@the joy of wrenching Should I have manually drained my coolant before using this vacuum system?
yeah, drain the system first, but if you still have some in there, it won't be a problem, it just sucks whatever air is trapped in there out on top of the coolant in there.
@@joyofwrenching Yeah, I couldn’t get a good vacuum on it because I had the damn system full of coolant. I thought I was doing something wrong. Come to find out I was. I didn’t fully understand what the freak I was doing. Thank you for the speedy reply.

Great Demonstration for checking wheel bearings. There should be a Low Hum that gets slightly louder as you Speed Up. You cannot always tell from which Side while Driving. That Bearing Noise source can Trick you, usually does.
so true, I often guess from driving then it's the other one when I check them by hand and/or with a stethoscope!
@@joyofwrenching Everytime so far, it sounds like it’s on the Other Side. that’s 5 vehicles for me. 🤔
Been at my wits end searching for my issue. I think you just saved me from more headaches. Thank you very much! Going to pull my tires off tomorrow and see if there is cupping.
Glad I could help! And I hope it's something simple and easy.
I don't know where you live, but here in quebec canada parts get very rusty and that abs sensor will not come off. When it's a press fitted bearing like the japs I usually disconnect the connector in the fender to bring the nuckle assembly with the sensor to press the bearing out in a press. If people want to change the whole nuckle assembly they should be aware that they might need to buy the abs sensor.
Sometimes it could also be the radiator if ur overheating on highway speeds
That's true, esp in jeeps when people have a big winch or something in front or a ton of mud caked on it blocking airflow through it.
I just wanted to say thank you for your video. It was extremely helpful and easy to follow along. I appreciate how easy and the step-by-step Process with the great video of what needed to be done. Most people fly right through it you did an incredible job of showing us what to do
You're very welcome!
Sir I love this channel! I wish I had the same optimism trying to wriggle around on my back, twisting my bad hip trying to find a decent position to do this in my driveway with rust falling in my eyes 😂. But struggle aside, you truly make great videos and remind me why I love to work on my own vehicles. Thanks dude!
Thanks so much my friend, and I'll try to keep spreading that joy of wrenching
I have a 2005 Equinox and the guy I bought it from said it had a bad wheel bearing so I ordered one. I was trying to check it out to see if it's the passenger side one, but it doesn't move any at all, but it seems I can hear noise from the right side. I had both front wheels off the ground and the vehicle on jack stands. Had my friend start it up and put it into gear and it sounded like the noise was coming from the axel. I asked the guy I bought it from about it and he said he replaced the inner axel and the noise was still there. Could it still be the wheel bearing? I think I did notice that when I turn the wheels, the noise got slightly louder or quieter depending on which way I turn the wheels. Didn't really pay attention to which way I turned the wheels. I will try to do that today.
definitely can still be a bearing, best way to figure out which one is the jack up the front end, leave the engine off, and turn the front tire while listening to the hub/bearing with a stethoscope (or screwdriver to the ear), you'll hear the light grinding sound in the bad one. sometimes, if it's bad enough, you can feel the grinding by turning the tire and keeping a hand on the spring above it, and you'll feel the crunchiness in the spring. Good luck my friend!
@@joyofwrenching Just so happens that I bought a mechanics stethoscope a few weeks ago. I'll have to try and check it tomorrow. I'm thinking it is the wheel bearing. I have already bought the wheel bearing just haven't been able to break the axel nut loose. I have an older impact wrench but it wouldn't budge it. I have since sprayed PB Blaster on it and hoping it'll help break it free. Thank you for replying.
@@stevenA44 can put the wheel on ground with the center cap out and get a socket in there and breaker bar on the axle nut if can't find an impact.
@@joyofwrenching That's my plan for this weekend. That noise is driving me nuts!!
2017 JK overheating for months. Dealership & warranty co have replaced the thermostat 5 times, water pump once, radiator once before approving tear down to find blown head gasket that revealed warped head. Received back after couple months at dealership. Still running hot with sloshing water sound in dash and slight rough idle at stop. Now thinking may not have bleed system completely. These engines should have a class action lawsuit against them.
wow, sorry you're having to go through all that. Hope you get satisfaction soon.
8:51 this is the part I’m stuck at. I can’t get it off the ball joint. It’s pried super wide open, been using penetrating oil and every ounce of strength, can’t get it off. Anything more I could be doing?
can always try pickle fork, but it usually tears up the ball joint boot
@@joyofwrenching thank you for this! We got the first side done with lots of soaking it with the oil, waiting, banging on it some more and repeat. Other side is worse so we are repeating the process! Cars are so much fun to work on! Who knew?! 😅😂

Thanks for sharing could you please provide the youtube link for the timing chain replacement for the 2014 Cadillac SRX that you would recommend
How about the drivers side with doing the CV axle and new bearing?
Thanks! My 2013 Honda Crosstour has been making this noise, along with the bouncing at low speeds. A technician told me there is cupping on the tire due to the shocks being worn. I came here to learn and understand. Your explanations are very clear and easy to understand. Great video, thanks!
Is this the 1.4t LE2?
I have 2014 with the exact same issue. But also no cabin hot air. Took it to a shop and they said head gasket. I replaced the thermostat with a cheapo from auto zone and replaced the pump. Hope an oem thermostat is the answer.
me too, make sure they do a block test before condemning head gasket, as it's rare, and the loss of cabin heat makes a restriction in the heater core suspect, so do a heater core flush.
Bad camera man
Ryobi is junk
Does the Valve lash loose all the time when lifters are bad?
a little looseness is ok, but if you can wobble it side to side or move it up off the spring easy, there's probably something worn out.
@@joyofwrenching Thanks
Thank you so much and god bless you also

THANK YOU! I've been trying to access my rear speakers and could not find a single video on how to remove the trunk cover.
exactly why I made this as I too was lost for a while looking for some guidance, so I'm glad you found this!
Thank you for your video. Really well done and clearly made! We have a 2009 Nissan Murano with 100,000 miles and it’s still a great car but we were told we need a new transmission by our Nissan dealership. Do you think the same approach with a new sensor would translate to a Nissan?
it's hard to say for sure over the net, but with the cost of trans replacement so high, it may be worth a shot to do the fluid/filter and sensors and see.
Exactly what I was trying to accomplish today i too have a 2014 rubi with the SAME EXACT PROBLEM took out the fan and the grill cleaned out my radiator flushed. My heater core and the whole system got c*** out of the heater core. Of course, common issue but still likes to get hot. Just as yours did. Thanks for shedding light on this.
