DO NOT fully tighten the bolts on any control arms with the tires off the ground. ESPECIALLY if your have a lift on your Jeep. If you do this you will prematurely wear the bushings as they will be tightened out of normal ride height and will twist when the vehicle is set down off the jack stands.

I don't see how that matters. Isn't the weight of the vehicle the same if it's on the Jack stands as it is on the tires?

papaschuette if you jack the Jeep on the frame rail the front axle and suspension components hang free which allow you to replace the control arms. When you sit it down the angle the control arms sit at changes. You don’t want to torque them outside of the ride angle when it is on the tires. Especially true when you have a lift as this puts extra strain on all suspension components especially in the front end. If you’ve ever experienced The classic Jeep wobble after hitting a bump doing 60 you know you will want to avoid that at all cost.

@@shanestauffer1624I see what you mean. I was thinking more like putting jack stands on the axle to keep it in place while changing them out. The death wobble is the reason for changing out the control arms. The bushings are shot and it goes into death wobble if I hit a pebble at 35. Everything else under the front end has pretty much been replaced. I figured I could compress the springs and disconnect the shocks to eliminate some of the pressure on the arms. You've obviously done this job before so I will take any advice. I appreciate you getting back to me so fast. Even with the video being so old. Thanks.

Does it solve the pulling of the vehicle to one side? My wj has a tendency to pull to the left even though wheel alignment has been set.

You really needed to change out those bushings on the towers on the front. Three if you're going to do the job do it right... I'm doing the same job you are right now and I'm changing out the two Tower bushes you didn't for the upper outer control arm.....
