I'm 4 hours in and haven't seen if you've figured out the whole wendigo saving josh situation lol The book from the flamethrower guy mentioned that the wendigos still have some humanity in them, not all the time, but it's there. When you found Hannah's diary with Sam, you reminded Josh, and he recognized Hannah. Hannah recognized him, so she took him instead of crushing his head like it showed in the totem. I'm assuming she didn't recognize the others. I'm pretty sure she knew who Sam was at the end, because she saved her from the other wendigo right before Sam flipped the switch. This was basically Hannah's revenge lol. everyone was involved in the prank besides Sam, Josh and Chris. Sam and Josh are the only ones who can kind of be saved by Hannah? Idk
Matt is by far the easiest character to kill. Fits the genre, lemme stop 😭 If you disagree with Emily about the fire tower earlier on, itll save his life, only if you chose to save Emily. When Emily finds the flare gun, and Matt disagreed with her, Matt will keep the flare instead of shooting it. This gives him an option to fight back before he gets hooked. If you jumped to safety, he survives no matter what, flare gun or not. Him and Jessica will meet up with each other later on. If Emily keeps the flare gun, she can use it against the wendigo, therefore she doesn't get bitten. And Mike doesn't even pull a gun out on her. I can go on and on but there's so many different outcomes in this game
4:19:50 last thing lmao I was a complete jerk to Emily as Matt the entire gameplay, only cuz she deserved it, and I still saved her. I got completely different dialogue here, Emily actually sounded very concerned about Matt. 😭

I missed the beginning of your playthroigh and knew nothing of this game before you played it, so i was quite shocked when the reveal came and it turned out to be the creature it was, the one native americans have been begging us for years to never speak of, to never say its name. Even as a person from another country, i know this? I greatly enjoyed the many hours of stream up until this point. I was surprised not a single person in your chat mentioned anything. I am struggling to talk about this because i dont want you to feel bad at all and i feel like this will do that and then i feel like a terrible person! But i also feel like i would be a terrible person if i didnt say anything. Do not take me on face value, please do your own research when you have the time, just so that in the future, you do not speak its name. And please, shake off any ill feeling this comment gives you, I swear i am not trying to attack you, i will continue watching when i can, i am cheering for you! And for toaster!
a lot of the indigenous defensiveness over the use of this mythos was in response to the original release of until dawn iirc. it at least marked a height in the trend of pop culture using it as a horror monster and the knowledge of how insensitive it is wasn't well known at that point. that plus the heavy spoiler wall surrounding the reveal means that most people don't know that there's anything problematic about the game. i don't think we can blame jojo at all here, but letting people know about these issues is definitely helpful! the game in general has many issues with how it treats indigenous themes and narratives even though it relies so heavily on them.... the totems make me cringe so hard

It feels like in this situation as in many others, we don't know to research about a thing we don't know about. it was an interesting lesson for me as well. your stream was my first encounter with the game, and i also didn't think to research just how big it was before commenting
