I found her cloning attack to be 10x worse than waterfall. Also I came to her with Giants flame incarnation and that thing basically just annihilated her, she was on the floor half the fight, I was almost a little sad that she wasn't as challenging as I thought :(
A heads up for future builds. Blue dancer charm only affects physical scaling damage and isn't based on your equip load class, but your actual weight (from the wiki : "Damage bonus not based on percentage equip load, but rather the actual value of current equip load. The damage bonus has soft caps at 8, 16 and 20 equip load. Once equip load is 30 or higher the talisman has no effect.")
I loved every second of this video. There were moments where I wondered why you didn’t punish certain pauses but figured you’ve played her enough to respect the speed of her attacks and how punishing a mistake is. I’ve only beat her on my main STR + Faith build (fire type w/ blasphemous) but also used mimic. Gotta try her without mimic next time, you gave me ideas with the high endurance + light rolls and just playing it slow and steady. Thanks for taking the time to make this!
I was in the same boat because Malenia's kick can be punished reliably (you kinda swing as the kick dissipates, comes back to her. Can also jump and attack, landing will make you crouch into the dead zone) but i think the reason is how many followups from that kick there are, including waterfowl and you don't wanna be in a moves endlag when you need to start immediately making her attack the wrong way/circle her around
@@camdog6205not at all, 40 vigor should be where people stop leveling it. i can sit comfortably around 30 vigor, but im not most people. its different for everyone, if you are good at the game, you can stop at around 30 vigor, if you need to level because you are struggling, 60 should be the limit

BTW for night comet, you can always hit two on malenia if after you hit one night comet you immediately fully charge another, as she will either dodge into it or do nothing

Finally I beat her solo on med load lvl 125. I've done str/arc with thr marais greatsword at light roll lvl 150 and faith using pyromancy and the claymore
First one to do it was Ongbal 2 weeks after Elden Ring relase >-< he also has a youtube channel. he invented most of the moves people do vs Malenia including the Waterfowl close range dodge where u run a circle below her. He did no Damage Malenia on day2 and no hit 2weeks later
Yeah I thought that too. My reasoning: - strength has stagger and multiple hits after stagger - Int has lots of big distance hits and op night comet - Faith also has ranged hard hitters - Arcane has blood And dex didn't have range, stagger or (much) bleed options.
Imagine training as hard as malenia has with the blind swordsman, training with every fibre of your being and being undefeated, then some asshole wearing a diaper and a pot on his head walks up to you and kicks your ass while you cant even land a single hit lol
as far as i can tell punishing the kick attack isn's completely save. she can do her attack where she swipes the sword up quickly and then slams it down, which cannot be interupted and comes out too fast to dodge unless your using a very fast attack, and even then you need very good reactions.
I feel like a nice detail for the Malenia fight would have been to give her alternate defeat lines depending on if the player took damage/got hit or not during the fight. I couldn't no-hit her to save my life, but it'd be a fun reward for those that can. The "your strength...extraordinary" line would fit a no-hit fight, and instead of saying "I've finally met my match" she could say something like "You've bested me, thoroughly..." because "my match" implies she and the player are evenly, well, matched, but if the player didn't get hit once?? Malenia, honey, sorry but they're above your league. And then, the players like me who spend the fight scrambling around getting hit left and right, healing, and crying for the suffering to end, would get another, less validating line 😂
Nice video but i was laughing at the INT video.... As a INT caster all you need to do is to spam ancient rancord and the weapon star beast jaw weapon skill to kill malenia easily. You can also kill her so easily with Kamehameha
The only time I fought Malenia was with an extremely overpowered bleed build that took out both phases in under a minute but after watching this I might have to go back fight her legit
Faith seems hardest. Specially with magma blade - it was couple danger moments. But how we can see it’s all about extremely safe tactics - one hit after specific’s movements
I'm late, but to answer your question because they answered in different comments: INT was easiest from night comet and STR was hardest due to no range attacks

I also recommend dex+arc build. I got her in my first try with rivers of blood+10, 35 dex+35 arc+40 vigor. She bleeds very fast.

How did you get the Heavy Greatsword with the Giant Hunt ash of war? it only grants the Quality affinity
If you have the iron whetblade you can choose between Heavy, quality and keen.
