  • A video tutorial on how to replace the cabin air filter on a 2017 - 2023 Chrysler Pacifica.
    WHEN SHOULD YOU CHANGE THE CABIN AIR FILTER IN YOUR CHRYSLER PACIFICA?
    It is recommended that you replace your cabin filter every 10,000 - 15,000 miles or once a year.
    If you need to remove, replace or change the cabin air filter in your Chrysler Pacifica you should perform the following steps:
    1. Open the glove compartment door partially, leaving extra slack on the glove compartment tension tether. Detach the glove compartment tension tether by sliding the black tension tether clip down, and popping it out of the slot on the side of the glove compartment door.
    2. There are glove compartment travel stops on either side of the glove compartment door. To release them, push inward on each travel stop, and pull the glove compartment door down until the travel stops pass clear of their hooking points..
    3. Pry up the lid of each individual compartment snap, and detach it from the rest of the snap. There is a small space on the side of each snap to use for separating the lid
    4. After removing the snaps, lift up the compartment cover to gain access to the fresh air inlet location.
    5. Remove the cabin filter cover by prying back each of the retaining tabs from their hooking points, and then pulling the cabin air filter cover out to expose the cabin filter. Remove the cabin air filter by pulling it straight out of the housing.
    6. Install the new cabin air filter with the arrow on the filter pointing toward the floor.
    7. Once the Cabin filter is replaced, Reverse steps to complete
    This video tutorial will show the location of, as well as how to change, remove or replace the cabin air filter on the following Chrysler Pacifica models:
    2017 Chrysler Pacifica ( L, LX, Touring and Limited )
    2018 Chrysler Pacifica ( L, LX, Touring and Limited )
    2019 Chrysler Pacifica ( L, LX, Touring and Limited )
    2020 Chrysler Pacifica ( L, LX, Touring and Limited )
    2021 Chrysler Pacifica ( L, LX, Touring and Limited )
    2022 Chrysler Pacifica ( L, LX, Touring and Limited )
    2023 Chrysler Pacifica ( L, LX, Touring and Limited )

    Great explanation video. Well done. One Caution though is when removing the elastic dampening cord (30-second point), don’t just let the cord spring back as shown in the video. My bad luck had the connector piece drawn back and got caught on something behind the plastic frame. It took about 45-minutes of frustration retrieving it. Best to unhook the dampener from the glove box and gently let it retract to its resting point while holding it. Otherwise about a 10-minute process to complete.

      I tried to be mindful of this, and I can totally see how this could happen. There wasn't enough room for me to safely let it go and I just lucked out that it didn't catch something.

      Well, look who should've read this before he let his dampening cord snap back... (this guy, this guy should've read this)

      I also didn't read this before doing it. It also took me about 45 minute to retrieve the dampening cord.

    Don't just pull on the push pin. You'll break it. When removing the cover, push the center of the push pin in and the entire thing will come out easily. When putting the cover back on, push the center of the pin out (opposite direction from before) and you can easily secure it in the hole.

      Not sure what you mean by this? How can you push the center in while at the same time trying to pull it out?

    • @SmokinLoken
      @SmokinLoken Рік тому

      @@daleair2012 Once you push the center of the pin in, you can use a screwdriver or something to pry the head out and the entire thing will easily pop right out.

      @@daleair2012 When you push the center in, it collapses the expanded plastic feet of the grommet. This makes the grommets feet/wings/whatever they are called to have a smaller diameter, allowing you to then remove the grommet by the pulling on it, not on the felt fabric.

    Thanks for the video. You showed releasing the clip on the right side, but you must also release the clip on the left side in the same way, or you are likely to break the clip on the left side (as I did). If you do break one of the clips (which seems likely to occur at this or a later change), you can use a couple of good rubber bands wrapped from left-to-right across the front to hold the cover in place.

    My AC smells bad. I want to buy some cleaner foam to clean the evaporator. I wonder if I can remove the cabin air filter and shoot the cleaner foam into that whole? Most cars have the evaporator right behind the cabin filter.

    Do you need to bend the old filter a little bit to take it out and the new one to put it in? That is what I needed to do.

    When I pulled my filter out, it was sideways with the writing to the right, does it need to be facing out like you did?

    • @PYR-Auto
      @PYR-Auto  Рік тому +1

      not necessarily, that would probably only apply for sure if you have an OEM factory filter - the writing on the filers can vary depending on brand.

    How often should this be changed?

    • @PYR-Auto
      @PYR-Auto  2 роки тому

      The car manufacturers usually recommend 10k - 15k miles or about once a year. I usually just check them out visually and go off how dirty they are.

    Where is the best place to get an air filter?

    • @PYR-Auto
      @PYR-Auto  3 роки тому +1

      Online is probably the cheapest route but I usually just buy them at a local auto parts store so I don't have to wait for shipping. Most auto parts stores (O'reileys, Autozone, Advanced Auto Parts, Napa, etc. ) should have these filters in stock.
