    Honestly, minivans are some of the best most practical vehicles around if your mission is driving kids around and using it as a daily driver. You get pretty decent MPG, a ton of features, and a great driving experience for what it is.

      @@villafontananorte With the "stow and go" chairs, the minivan can act as a massive cargo hauler. The Rav4 being a higher ground clearance crossover also tends to feel a bit more tipsy than the minivan, which with the optional 20"x7.5" wheels with sticky tires on the Pacifica and that pretty peppy 290hp can really get up and go and feels very carlike. Not everyone cares about handling, but that is a consideration. Ingress and egress with a sliding floor and third row are also considerations. Rav4 is simply a much different and much smaller vehicle.

    Your attitude and your Pacifica are bulletproof and 9 ft tall. It doesn't matter what vehicle you drive or buy there's always going to be either naysayers or people that don't like it. In my over a half a century of driving I don't think I've ever seen a vehicle produced that didn't either have a flaw or a recall. And by the way the judges in one of a major Auto publication indicated that the Pacifica was far and away the most beautiful designed vehicle, so you got that going for you as well. When my wife's 2013 Grand caravan is ready to put the rest, the Pacifica is exactly what we're going after. Kudos to you and your taste. There's not a person out there that shouldn't own a minivan because the practicality and usability are endless. Enjoy it. Look forward to further updates on the minivan.

    We said we would trade our Jeep Grand Cherokee for a mini van when we retired and were in our mid-60’s. . . Got rid of our diesel Jeep last September for a 2018 Pacifica limited and LOVE IT! One son still ribs us in it (he’s in Hawaii and has not ridden in it yet), but our youngest and his 4 year old LOVE it as well. He’s 32 and said he would actually ride in it to the mountains with us! It came with everything but a butler! Love the ride, gas mileage (25-32 mpg), views with the windows, all the camera, the quiet ride, and all the awesome technology and features! So I am curious, three years later after you posted this video what was your experience with the Pacifica? How long did you keep it, how many miles did you put on it, and did you have any issues? I fell in love with the Pacifica when it came out but my wife hates minivans since we had a few over a couple of decades while we were raising our children. The are absolutelty the most practical vehicles. I retired last June and bought myself a new Lincoln Continental (wife already had one). However a few months ago when I had taken the Lincoln in for service they didn't have a Lincoln loaner to give me (they use Enterprise Car Rental onsite) and I told them I didn't care if it wasn't a Lincoln. To my surprise I got a Pacitica. I had always admired it from afar but after driving one a couple of days I knew I had to have one. One month ago I purchased a new 2021 pretty loaded Touring L. They did a mid cycle refresh for 2021 with a lot of good improvements like thicker glass, more sound deadening, etc.

    7:00 pretty much sums up what you two did and what is wise for most people. The U.S. domestic brands have vastly improved quality since the early 2000's. As for minivans, Chrysler invented it and still makes the best one to this day, IMO. As for minivan choice, everyone has their personal preference, needs, and wants. Some just dismiss them altogether, but two-seat roadsters don't make sense for everyone. I think a lot of minivan haters might change their mind if they actually drove some of these for a week. Great daily driver and especially people mover!

And we must be from the same planet or cut from the same block of wood because my wife and I are

I have also had good experiences with all three makers. To say "x" automaker will be problem free is untrue and to say don't buy from "x" maker because it always makes bad cars is just setting your self up for a much higher degree of possible frustration.

    I've had great fortune with one of the old Chevy Venture minivans- one thing a lot of people overlook is the "crash safety". The 1998 Venture I spoke of is a deathtrap if you hit something big head on at 35mph or greater- the floor pan under/behind the front seats will fold up and sends the driver and front passenger into the windshield. Poor crash safety but good mpg and still won't quite after 244,000 miles driven.

    We have a Pacifica, and it is the fourth Chrysler minivan we have owned. We got away from them for a few years, but came back because of the versatility and comfort level for traveling. The adaptive cruise control is awesome, and I agree that it looks better than most SUVs out there. We tow with ours, and use it for carrying a ton of stuff back and forth to our camp. We have never had any major issue with any of the four Chrysler minivans we have owned, and put close to a half million miles on them, combined. The only issue we had with this one so far is the tires that came on it were horribly noisy on the highway. I think they were OEM, and we just replaced them with higher quality Michellins, and the reduction in noise is dramatic. Now the car is how I remember the last one we had, pretty quiet on trips considering all of that glass. If you never had stow and go seats before, you will be amazed when you put them all down at what you can fit inside the back. It holds full sheets of plywood with the hatch down, and I have hauled queen size beds in the back too! They really are the most versatile vehicle you can own. If you are not sure about them, I suggest that you rent one for a family trip. They are dirt cheap to rent for a week, and I guarantee you will like it.

    My wife has a '17 Pacifica. She drove Lexus, Audi, BMW before buying the Pacifica. She had owned 2 Honda Odysseys prior, and had over 300,000 total miles on them. The Pacifica is her favorite. There have been some electical Gremlins and EGR issues that seem sorted out. We have 50,000+ miles on it. The dealer charges to reflash the sliding door modules and the rear hatch module. This is a known issue, so seems like that should be fixed free. As the warranty is money back guarantee, i.e. if you don't use it, you get the money back, I went ahead and paid for the 1 hr service charge to reflash the modules. Also during the warranty, the computer for the trans was reflashed, which helped the shifting.

    The parking brake button is horribly located and badly designed, it is easy to accidentally touch it, while changing the air flow or changing stations, I did it a few times when driving on the highway and the car shucked dangerously , the only way to avoid touching the parking brake button is to tape a piece of hard plastic on top of it. The other issue is the headrest: it is curved inward, when you drive long distance (5+ hours) your neck will start to hurt. I wrote to Chrysler about these issues, but just one voice will not make them change these flaws. I think the parking break location is a dangerous flaw not just its location but the fact that it is push button and not a small pull latch similar to those in buick and infinity, in those cars you pull the small latch up to apply the parking brake.

    Ziebart has been around for many years. They started out as an undercoating company and I had new cars undercoated by them in the 70s & 80s. My wife and I are looking at minivans and we're in our mid 60s. They are practical for many people. Lincoln, Cadillac, and Lexus are status vehicles but that doesn't translate as better built.

    Well, here's some info y'all might enjoy. I've owned a 2012 MKZ AWD Sport trim (similar to the Police Fusion trim, easily upgradable) and now own a 2020 Pacifica Limited trim (similar to the Challenger SXT, easily upgradable). With both stock version and custom versions, we see the same deal: had to upgrade the intake, MAF, throttlebody and exhaust on the MKZ to get the bulk of street friendly HP and response. In the Pacifica, there's no MAF, it's a thermometer. While still looking into what all I want to go with on this upgrade cycle (UC) for the Pacifica, I've found that, as with any vehicle: more air in, more out and a tune to compensate for the variance, is going to make the biggest change. The low and wide stance of the Pacifica and the same engine as the V6 sport variants, makes this a fun project to look into. 287HP stock vs the SXT V6 305HP, I'm pretty sure I can find a way to make the SXT parts work on my Pacifica.

    I would like to say this, as my co worker recently found out, if you buy the extended Chrysler warranty read it and read all the warranty information because if you do not follow the guidelines you don’t get covered. Get the major interval services done and know when they are due don’t rely on a reminder, like my friend did and when a major engine problem occurred it wasn’t covered. Had he followed the warranty the engine would have been replaced. It was a freak thing but a freeze plug gave out and the oil leaked out while driving. We live in the Northeast and he plows with his truck we figure that corrosion caused this but either way it would have been covered they said.

This is my opinion only sometimes depending on your choice, financial situation plays a big game, the options you want, if everyone wanted the same things the world would be in the same box. I am older and do not need a van of any type. If I had a larger family and young children yes I could see one. The one you picked is very nice.

    Love the new van. Those seats that fold down into the floor are a huge win because it's hard to lift out and store the seats outside the van every time you need to go to the furniture store, flea market or home improvement store. The smooth floor after seats are folded down is so nice when one of your family members is a dog and you need to fold down a seat to add a big dog crate for them. The lower step up into the van vs a large SUV is really handy too. I see Honda and Toyota vans everywhere; I would much rather have a Pacifica like yours.

    Love our 2018 Pacifica. Never buy another van without stow-n-go seats and as stated has room for 4x8 sheets of whatever in the back. The only problem I've had is with replacement headlights. I put LED SEALIGHT lamps in and the low beam works perfectly but the Daytime Running Lights are a problem but only the Daytime Running Light on the drivers side. It will go out after driving for a while and will reset after turning off and back on the vehicle. The passenger side doesn't. I've tested the high beams by driving for a couple hours in the country and even though turning them off and on due to oncoming traffic they worked perfectly. It appears that only when the Daytime Running Lights are on they shut off. Any one else have an issue like this? I've seen this reported for a variety of vehicles but no apparent solution for the Pacifica. Here's the LED lamps I use for both low and Daytime Running Light/High Beams. SEALIGHT X2 9005/HB3

    I hope you don't have any problem with it. My wife's 2018 Pacifica Hybrid limited had its catalytic converter replaced at 6k miles within a year while we were in a weekend family road trip. What'da nightmare! The van was losing power and seeing smoke in cabin. I pulled over and pop the hood and saw cat converter bring red hot. I have never owned a vehicle that had 2 recalls per year. It already had 4 or 5 recalls since.

    I just had my Mitsu SUV tinted last week with ceramic tint, front doors only as it's got privacy glass. I need to get my privacy glass tested before I decide to get the clear ceramic film on, Australia is pretty strict on this sort of thing.
    As for the hate for buying a Chrysler minivan, I've prevously owned a 2003 Chrysler minivan, a 2008 Toyota Rav4 and most recently a 2012 Citroen people mover. The Chrysler and Citroen were by far the most user friendly vehicles I've owned, the Rav4 was good as well but ironically it's height was an issue for my young kids at the time. Yes I had some issues with the Chrysler, biggest one was a leaking steering rack. The Rav4, which was barely 18 months old when I got it, had the driver's seatbelt lock solid due to a failed retractor, as well as issues with it's gear shift and later a couple of recalls for the rear suspension. It also had numerous rattles which I couldn't trace, and that was my specialty when working in dealers. The Citroen, a car everyone claims is the most unreliable brand in the world, had zero issues. Only reason why I didn't buy another one was I needed out of my lease on the Citroen and to get a new one was going to take too long, 6 months!

    All vehicles CAN have issues. I've replaced head gaskets on 3 different Toyotas before they had 100k miles on them, heater core on a Tacoma under warranty, blower motor on another Tacoma under warranty. My finances Civic that she had when we met blew out its own back window somehow while it was warming up in our driveway with the rear defrost on (turns out that happened to a lot of 03 civics). With that much technology I'm sure something will break eventually but I know for a fact that 3.6 is a fantastic engine and they're working the bugs out of those transmissions. It should be fine.

      Paul Martin Interesting, that you pick on two of the most reliable makers, while defending the least. It's called cognitive bias. You ignore the statistics and substitute your anecdotal skewed evidence as truth. Come back when you can talk about a 12 million vehicle sample and not about three Toyota's and a civic.

    • @andrewmendoza1578

      Troy Strain I believe his point was to say that every vehicle can have problems no matter the brand. Now Toyota and Honda are brands based off reliability and in his experience they have had problems. The Pacifica is actually projected to have above average reliability as well. If people only shopped for reliability then the auto world would be a dull place

    • @amarmot3635
      @amarmot3635 6 років тому

      Paul Martin Head gasket issues on Toyotas is extremely uncommon. Extremely. They are considered the most reliable brand, long term, for a reason. Your problems most like resulted from abuse.

    • @boss123400
      @boss123400 6 років тому

      Andrew Mendoza Nah, it was an attempt to put Fiat reliability up close to Toyota using anecdotal evidence and by saying all vehicles CAN have problems, like all makers are similar. The facts are, that not all vehicles are engineered equally, but his attempts were to draw them close together using his anecdotal evidence as proof that all cars are engineered equally, and you can forget the difference. Well, there's a huge difference, and that difference becomes evident when a large enough sample is looked at with statistical analysis. But, hey, if you have the cash to lease a makers vehicle that is last in reliability and want to chance it, that you won't be stranded or sitting at the dealer while every little thing that comes up then go ahead. And, when those annoying rattles and squeaks start showing up, I guess you'll have to live with it. It's your money though, good luck, and enjoy the resale.

    • @andrewmendoza1578
      @andrewmendoza1578 6 років тому

      lol don't be so hurt bud, it's just a car! you must be fun at parties as well..it is true ALL vehicles can have problems, they're machines. Toyota's may be least likely to have problems but they can still have problems. If you lease a vehicle its under warranty so any issues you have take it to the dealer I don't see your point there LMAO. At the end of the day its just a car. and they are just depreciating assets Like I said if reliability and resale were what everyone wanted then the Auto industry would be dead.
