"Felt like doing a favor for an old friend"
"Yeah, an old friend who hated us"
Martin, All of Jon's friend either hate him or hated him
reminds me of that one scene with uncle irohin the last airbender "oh...old friends that dont want to attack us...where have they gone"
saddest thing in tma is when breekon lost their hope
I'm sure that doctor from season 1 is so proud to know his students have finally graduated!
Noooooo! For real! Its gonna take me a while to link everything. But really?? That episode was sooo funny!
Jane Doe is one of the best performances on the show, she's deeply unsettling and just funny enough that it keeps you off balance. I love the way she delivers 'Sometimes we throw them in a pit :)" and "There is MORE!"
ikr i love how eager she is to show them around the hospital and how excited she is to hear what a terrible job everyone's doing there
She gave me big Nikola Orsinov vibes.
"And I'm a monster ❤"
dr doe transed her gender and got a phd despite how unhelpful that pesky teacher was! i'm so proud of her
Iconic
"Thanks for teaching us about the insides -- that they matter as much as the outsides." - Jane Doe and Max Mustermann, probably
Calling himself a teaching doctor and then trying to keep all of that delicious knowledge to himself. Shameful.
Max Mustermann too
Woke: Trans rights are human rights
Bespoke: Trans rights are eldritch entity rights
It is slightly funny that the monster have no idea what most of the stuff in the hospital actually is and are just saying things that sound medical.
I did laugh out loud when they said words like "stat" and thought, this is a great criticque of medical dramas.
@@birdbrainiac They watched a season of Grays Anatomy and immediately went to work at an apocalyptic hospital
I find that so funny tbh! It's almost cute. XD
@@raebaer8580 If they're the Stranger-aligned anatomy student... then yeah, probably.
@@MrAnimination Man, shout out to the Stranger's only weakness: medicine.
It's genuinely so funny that after the world is plunged into a fear hell scape that Breakon is just a janitor. Spooky janitor rights 2021
It makes so much sense after talking to him though. Their whole purpose was delivering fear, now they are kind of unemployed to a degree. Everyone is either always in a fear domain or is an avatar (or protected by one). Breakon (spelling?) Was in an existential crisis
"Here's a janitor! You are allowed to ignore him."
Sorry, this just had me cracking up lol
"Beautiful building."
"Do not insult me."
OH MY GOSH.
I know Breekon is a terrible, monstrous being that's caused a ton of harm
But it's really sad hearing them talk so defeated and sad :c
He sounds… hopeless
W H E E Z E
@@joserobertozazueta2227 you monster
@@joserobertozazueta2227 BAHAHAH I SHOULDN’T HAVE LAUGHED
I was litterally about to write the same thing. I remeber how vengeful he was when he first lost hope, then now being so defeated and feeling his litteral existance as a pain. Reducing him to a straight up janitor. How sad.
Jon: Thanks so much for the tour-
Dr. Doe: There is more!
Me when I'm telling my friends about my current hyperfixation
Headcannon: every time Jon says ‘I’ he’s actually saying ‘eye’ lol
Smug ass chuckles to himself about it I bet /j
eye/sight pronouns
@@mariamatedei How does it feel having the best sense of humor in this entire fandom
Eye tend to agree
Well eye have no reason not to agree with that 🤣
I think this is the domain episode that scares me the most. Jonny was able to capture so much of my exact phobias.
Yeah this was terrifying i almost wanted to skip it
Yall are gonna hate me for this, but I'm trying to mentally conjure up an image of the medical staffists and I initially just imagined a more humanoid Among Us character.
I love that its truly terrifying
FHJSRFJHS
truly some sussy baka imposters
I was imagining hellraiser characters , thanks for ruining it
you know, i had a positively unnerving image in my head for them. then i read this and i just- i can't take it seriously after that
love love LOVE the end of this episode. jon taking a step back from the 'kill bill' agenda and saving the revenge smiting for jonah was a good decision. having him instead attempt to use his powers as a form of mercy is so narratively juicy. also love that martin's just completely lost his impulsive politeness, and is happy to just snark at the same eldritch horror intimidated him back in season 1.
The freaking spooky delivery men made me sad, what am I gonna do when Jon or Martin or someone dies?
Same
I AM *FINALLY* CAUGHT UP AFTER A LITERAL WEEK OF WATCHING NOTHING ELSE AND I REGRET
*N O T H I N G*
YOU ARE JUSTIFIED DO NOT REGRET ANYTHING
WHAT ARE WE YELLING ABOUT¡¿
MIND IF I JOIN YER¡¿
jonny is a little too good at adding his own twists to traditional fears and phobias.. this one especially was supremely uncomfortable for me like i’m still reeling from the one where the pump constantly dumps cold water into her LIKE who even thinks of that. and why does it make me so goddamn uneasy
i say this a lot but season 5 is on another level when it comes to scary imagery
RIGHT like cold water as a metaphor for postpartum depression,,,, their minds
I had an IV put in once and it was COLD and the sensation of that cold something spreading so quickly throughout me was really alarming. I literally had a couple doctors standing there and told them and they were just "Mm hmm." Like, nobody mentions cold IV fluid feelings that I have ever heard..
@@Badficwriter I actually enjoy that feeling, it's grounding in the midst of my medical anxieties
Diagnosis: SKIN
there is MORE
now she KNOWS how the lungs worK?
This one made me exceptionally uncomfortable, something about the way they “took them to treatment” literally made my blood pressure rise.
I do love Jon trying to protect Martin from the horrors
I love Jane Doe, she's such a tonal opposite to Jon and Martin
So real she kind of a cinnamon roll tbh (but she would kill you)
Rip to Hope-less Breekon
I'm still torn over what to think about Breekon. On the one hand, heck him for being terrible, but also that's a sad way to persist. Continuing on despite a more literal than usual other half being dead.
And also, this hospital is SOOOOO unsettling... So, well done by the writers! XD
I always think it comes down to wanting dignity to persist, I'd say human dignity but many of these things presenting as human aren't, yet we feel a brand of empathy for them we associate with humans.
it's not the same wanting someone to be happy than wanting them to have dignity, even when they're gone, it's the alternative to wanting them to experience unabashed cruelty.
@@mariamatedei Humans are just as likely to grant personality to familiar objects around them. People talk about soulless manmade things, but humans WILL give them personalities even so, right down to the idiotically persistent Algorithm.
Why does Dr. Doe's voice sound like a cross between Nikola Orsinov and Jeannie from that old show I Dream of Jeannie... It is very unnerving, my wellbeing of the mind was successfully removed
This episode on reinforces my realisation that the very specific genre of "weirdly shaped inhuman entities that pretend to be human badly through mimicry and very little understanding" is my absolute end-all favourite thing, love the """Doctor""" imagery wearing like 50 pairs of gloves and being boneless and saying Medical Things Because They're A Doctor (this would be a DREAM COME TRUE for my fav joke SCP, SCP-049-j) - it's all very inspiring and hilarious/creepy (such a fine line to balance but it gets the best results), masterclass of ideas and writing as always 👏
The Anatomy Students™️! Been waiting for these weirdos to make another appearance
i love how this whole season so far is jon just trying his best to hold himself together and keep martin somewhat safe and protected mentally and physically while also feeling and seeing all of the horrors and agony around him that he unwittingly created, and trying to be somewhat okay and normal about it idk you can really hear it at the beginning of this episode also i really did feel bad for breekon oof
Martin "You're welcome to TRY" Loving His Apocalypse Boyfriend
God, the increasing pitch of the heart rate monitor while he talks really raises the tension
One thing I really enjoy about these statements is the background sounds that fit the events. Makes it feel closer
Oh god there are so many terrifying statements but out of all of them this one got to me most.
I know right!? And i am not even afraid of hospitals! Weird how it works sometimes
The ever so slight fact that whenever they walk its heels but with a hint of sharp. “Its a beautiful building” “Do not insult me” such a beautiful dialogue glad ive finally found/joined the eye.
This seasons just a kaleidoscope journey of the entire cast of characters!!!
i imagine breekon & hope as the big evil twin bandits from Tangled
Me too!! My memory of that movie is hazy but I still recall that rough shape of the character design
really hate that there’s sound effects for Jons statements now
Fr
i appreciate jon not calling breekon a wretched thing. he was only doing his job
Ok I like Breakon thou. He just can't go on without his other half
pour one out for the fans without spotify accounts who have to listen to the eps on youtube 😔 may we avoid ending spoilers until the final episodes are uploaded here
edit: i just found out some episodes ARE here, just not in the playlist
Lol I spoiled myself for the end of the entire show before I even listened to it. Somehow, I'm still enjoying every minute, despite knowing what will happen at the end :)
As someone who's chronically ill and has had a ton of bad experiences with doctors, this is absolutely the worst domain for me by far.
awww, martin, 'a creepy bus stop'
This hospital seems like a fun place to be in.
Surgeon Simulator 2021
@@Emidretrauqe It's quite literally Two Point Hospital. I'm playing that game right now and it's a glorious coincidence that Im listening to this exact episode lol
This episode just reminded me of that one scene from Made in Abyss: Dawn of the deep soul where Reg is being basically dissected alive by Bondrwed's assistants.
"just spreading a smell around" is what im calling cleaning from now on, thanks Breekon
Breakon and Hope might have been horrible, but it's sad to hear Breakon so broken without Hope. No longer the delivery man he wants to be.
I already knew that this place, so often referred to as a hellscape, is really similar to what Hell would be like according to some, with the domains of personalised torture, infinity, and all that; but it is only now, for some reason, that it occurs to me just how similar this is to Dante’s “Inferno”. There are two travelers, one of which is the guide, answering the other’s questions and comforting them occasionally, who traverse various different areas containing groups of people being tortured in the same way, and for ever domain we hear the specific suffering of a couple individuals, who are a representation of the whole group living their nightmares there. Structurally speaking, they’re remarkably similar, so I’m guessing it was at least vaguely inspired by Dante’s work, even if only subconsciously. There’s just so much overlap… as someone who has studied the “Inferno” (I live in an Italian-speaking place, so it’s part of the usual study course in high school), and really enjoyed it, I love to see the parallels here !! Again, for the millionth time-which doesn’t make the compliment ring any less true-nice work, Jonny! :))
So Jon is Virgil and Beatrice combined? Wait, Martin is the poet..
The Stranger is so consistently fun to me. I'm sure there's something to be psychoanalyzed there, but eh.
Side note, I find it very funny that the credits are spoken so hurriedly to fit them all in before the music ends.
"anyvay, zhat's how i lost my medical license"
TF2 MENTIONED!!!
It’s cool that they changed the smite ritual for breakon to reflect its smiting. I always thought they would be the same incantation. Also I love how breakons va is called Martin 😆 must’ve felt weird for him during recording when Jon would call Martin all lovey dovey
Im finally all caught up!!! hearing melanie at the start scared the living daylights out of me and is this on Spotify? I try to search it up but I cant find it
I feel really bad for Breekon
Martin: Beautiful building
Dr Doe: And i took that personally.
BREEKON ❤😢
Idc that she’s a terrible monster who wants to thrive in the pain and fear of the beings in her hospital, I’m so proud of how far she’s come
"You're welcome to *try* " go off martin
Martins little comments throughout the tour are so goddamn funny he's just so snarky it's great
god I love the detail of the heart monitor getting higher and faster at the end of the first case
I personally loathe hospitals and doctors but I LOVE them in horror
She was very passionate about her job. It's... something.
I love the sound design & audio smoothness but I also want to get the spray bottle & tell the Sound Techs to schtop it!😅
I'm sorry but it was the monotone don't insult me and the subtle good Lord from Jon that just sent me🤣🤣🤣
i cant help but feel bad for breekon:(
Hi Lydia! Did i spell that right? Hi Alex! Atleast i know how to spell your name!
you did, good job 👍
And Hi Jon! And Mike! If they're here!
I really thought you were gonna say, "Hi Lydia! Can I call you Lydia?"
This is crazy. Am down with it.
AAAAA I CAN'T KEEP UP WITH THIS
Yknow, i never thought i would feel sorry for Breekon. Weird, and really good writing
Yeah, I've been through a long hospitalization and this sounds about accurate.
21:32 This hurt so much more than i thought it would
Ok. This one actually made me squirm a bit.
You know, I'm not afraid of hospitals and never was, but *this* episode is the only one so far that almost made me want to skip the statement. None of the fears have had such an effect on me before (not even the more gruesome of The Flesh episodes, or the ones with The Lonlely - and I'm positive I would've been a *perfect* victim for that one). But this? I genuinely struggled to listen through and had to pause a few times just to breathe. I usually need like... two minutes *at most* to feel okay after a particularly disturbing episode, but now it's been almost fifteen, and I still feel a bit sick
My point is fantastic work, Rusty Quill. I applaud you
It's less like they are walking to a tower, and more like they are trying to lick their way into the center of a tootsie pop of doom.
That sounds like Nikola! "I'm jane doe" that'll do it 😄
Tfw you catch up :(
pst... go on spotify... we're up to episode 194 on podcast apps ;)
Acast has up to 244 eps ;)
Edit: I checked and realised only 195 eps actually exist, the other 50 or so eps are like announcements and extra content and the like
Idk why we’re both winking at you, I guess the concept of more TMA eps is a very sexy concept
@@emilybarclay8831 god it sure is
@@f_mva I’ve officially fully caught up on the series and man, I’m not sure I’m coping
This was a very sad episode for me. I don't fear these things, but I watched my father in law go through months of medical hell like it. It wasn't just the constant surgeries, the dedication of the doctors to opening him up to fix him. Illness in old people can create temporary senility, jumping over the normal steps. So he began having memory issues, problems recognizing what was going on. He described the experience like waking up in a haunted hospital, not knowing how he got there, not understanding why his legs were gone, with strangely cheery but unfeeling strangers who bustled in to his body or just walked away from his questions.
After observing it firsthand, they did answer questions, they did tell him why he was there, but he'd forget even during the conversation. Thats why he thought they were rude. He was right that hospitals and rehabilitation homes are spooky at night, though. I was creeped out and I was fine.
In the end, he refused to allow more surgeries, and that was what killed him. Its sad, but the hospice people figured that he was in a pattern of decline, and it was only a matter of time. They were right, and I was shocked how fast he was gone when he refused to put up with it anymore.
I hate guessing what he would ask
ALSO NICE DOCTOR :DD
Am I only one who wants to know about ThE CaNtEeN?
This was nauseatingly terrific, great work all!
Isn't Jane Doe the girl from that musical about rollercoasters?
Yes, Ride the Cyclone, don't think it's related tho
@@eater_of_grass_beater_of_ass damn would have been funny
Killing Breekon really, finally hit me. They are coming across all the people and monsters that hurt them and they just float above them all. It makes me sad cause I know this really is the end
19:19 - statement ends
20:08
21:10
Just realized that this was released in my bday!
Dr doe talks like an ai program taught to talk like a doctor
oh my god i love dr doe
Hey, how are you! I love your video!
Ahh, medical horror's something I'm esp uncomfortable with 😅
But I kinda like how there's been more episodes lately that've made me pretty uncomfortable. I guess it's a reminder for me that this is a horror podcast and I started it with the expectation of getting scared? Not that I ever forgot that but still, it's "nice", if one could say that hh
Breekon is now a janitor! Wow. Oddly funny.
Good Lord, well... this episode is absolute nightmare fuel, I hate doctors and hospitals, and this was just... Good God.
I know which domain I'm ending up in for the apocalypse. Christ.
Can i just ask why the last five episodes aren't available on youtube?
first episode that actually made me spooked a bit. horrible
So. North Manchester General Hospital. Where I go for treatment every 8 weeks. That was a shocker. It's not fun, but it's not in hell.
I didn't like that flash at the beginning. I don't trust it
4:20 love the dr
4:30 ah...I though that voice sounded a bit...strange...
This would explain a lot of my visits lol see
Welcome to California! I hate it here.
Idk I feel like this place is worse then riding on a plastic hours at high speeds and getting your face stolen
Well if you're not going to feel bad about Breekon, the rest of us have that covered, don't worry.
Okay, so, I've been observing a kind of metanarrative in TMA about mental health issues, and to me, Breekon and Hope is one guy with dissociative identities, the "real one" being Breekon, and Hope being his "imaginary friend", if you will. To me, this is after his treatment, and he no longer has the other self. They've "cured" him of it, and now he wants to die because he doesn't know who he is without Hope
Considering that dissociation is simply memory issues, where the "personalities" are just your own self, feeling maimed because they're gone makes sense.
I love dr doe she has now beem dubbed my 4th favorite character in tma jesus she's creepy and weird all around
tasted? TF?!
Hang on, I'm beginning to think they're not even real doctors!
My thoughts exactly
