Hence the name, the 'Spear of Selene'. Also, attempting to connect this to another theory, since The Sunchaser has 'chaser' in the name, maybe Della was chasing after... the moon? The spear of Selene is indeed a rocket ship which was a gift from Scrooge. Him and Della explored everywhere across the world and Della wanted to explore space. But Donald thought it was too dangerous so Scrooge just made the rocket and hid it from everyone. But Della found it and she went on it in the middle of the night. Then a meteor storm or something came and one bolt thing hit her. Then Scrooge lost connection to Della and then no one knows where she went... until after the fight with Magica de spell where when Scrooge beat her Della saw that the family saved the world and we saw that Della was alive on the moon. And that's all we know
How awesome would it be if they end up following Della to the moon and the Moon Theme plays the entire chase. OR OR OR!!! They have a SPECIAL opening sequence with the MOON THEME for that episode!!!!!
What I got from this episode is how much of Donald's spirit died when he lost Della. He must have been a lot like Dewey back in the day and it's genuinely sad to see what he's become.

That would explain the disappearance of *both* parents and why Scrooge and Donald won't talk about it: they think Della and her husband are dead. Course then the question is, if that were the case, what kind of trouble was Della's husband in?

I could get into believing that, if it weren't for the fact that it reminds me too much of a show called "Detective Conan" where a 17 year old detective is drugged and reverts back to a child. I've seen "Webby=Della" being speculated before and it does have some eerie weight to it. (Adding on the similarities, Webby also has an interest in piloting and if they're the same character, that would give Scrooge an even greater reason to hide everything about Della.) The problem with this is that Webby would ultimately have to sacrifice herself in order to bring Della back. Which would be very weird, depressing....and extremely awkward for certain shippers. 😅 It doesn't feel right for these characters to not be their own separate entities, the same with the "Della=Magica" theory, which makes it hard for me to believe they're going down that route. I do believe that something Della related was intended for Webby, but I think she's her own separate character who's being used to give us an idea of what Della was like and to cause family angst; like Dewey. x3 Both kids are the most like Della, and I think their friendships could be hinting at a couple of connections she could have had. Webby and Lena's friendship could be reflecting a connection Della had with Magica while Dewey's growing friendship with Launchpad could be hinting that he too is connected to Della in some way.

I think the Spear of Selene still could be an actual spear. And artifact. Webby and Dewey were just looking for a wrong mythology. My guess is that the spear could actually belong to another moon goddes, like romanin Luna. The figure on the painted sealing in the archive room seems to be a dog person rather then a bird person. And Rome is closely associated with wolfs, so it's a possibility. But yeah, some sort of transport sounds very convincing too. Probably a rocket or space shuttle. Probably.
I think Webby is on the right track. I mean, if Selene doesn't know what it is then it could be something else. I also like the vehichle theory. I think the Spear of Selene could be in the Moneybin. "I've taken the Spear of Selene from the Moneybin, sorry I know you don't like anyone in there." It could be that. So Scrooge might know something about the Spear of Selene.
It's possible its an item, but the name was changed from something else, so Selene wouldn't know about it. It could possibly be connected with Hecate, a deity of magic who is also known among the 3 stages of the moon/womanhood along with Artemis/Selene. It would be a good connection to both Magica and the mythological world as well as a better explanation than simply leaving. Or it could be a red herring, and the spear was a diversion to possibly explain away a potential kidnapping, which would explain why her children aren't brought up in this letter.
She did go to space AND lost in space by the rocket and Scrooge McDuck sends all the rocket by his money and hired people to find her. But Dewey, Huey and Louie didn’t believe him and blame him for what he did. Oh, and that time, he almost ran out of money.
It's an interesting theory and I think the best way to figure it out would be Scrooge and Donald's response to space travel which is something that hasn't been brought up yet if I'm not mistaken, those two are the only ones in our story who know what the Spear of Selene is and honestly Donald gave us a rather vague idea of what happened to her. He just said "She's gone" which could mean anything to her dead, possessed, or just out in space but at the same time, where is her husband? Della is a mystery but we know that there isn't even a picture of her husband on the Duck Family Tree, let alone a name.
Maybe the Spear of Selene is a challenge that Della couldn't resist. "Scrooge, I've taken the Spear of Selene to challenge myself. I'm sorry if I don't come back alive. Della."
I actually remember reading that comic in the Donald Duck magazine (IDK if it was an old one or from when I was still subscribed three years ago): She launched into space and had Donald take care of the nephews, but due to her speed, time warped and even though for her she had left 2 minutes ago, it was really 10 years. In the comic she "skypes" with the nephews (IIRC thanks to Gyro Gearloose/Willie Wortel) but doesn't recognize them. They decide to not tell the truth and let her keep flying. I never knew it was a Dutch exclusive, so I found it weird nobody adressed it!

I saw a comment about Webby being Della and once I thought about it it really made sense magica gave Scrooge a magic item that couldn't be disposed of that Della took to keep uncle Scrooge and Donald safe so she got turned back into a baby knowing Della would do this magica planned to do this all along so she was going to capture the baby Della and use her for what I'm not sure yet but then Scrooge keeps her safe under the identity of Webby that's why Scrooge bought the post office so magica couldn't track her that also explains why Lena made friends with Webby first not to mention Webby being Della would make sense considering how after the booby traps she comforted Dewey like a mother would and on one of the title screens it shows webby pulling Donald with a grapling hook which resembles the picture where Della is pushing Donald's face in the cake Donald even has the same face plus in the new webby reacts shorts one was Andi Mack about her sister actually being her mother which would be just like if webby the triplets adopted sister was there mother coincidence I think not I think magica webby and Della are definitely all connected even If I'm wrong I have a feeling all three will be connected somehow

There is a chance that although it wasn't an artifact that actually came from Selman that scrooge and Donald first heard about it and then all 3 of them had an in counter with magica. If that is true Magica could have told Della she would do something to the boys if she was not given the spear. Then when it didn't do what Magica wanted Della and Magica fought forcing magica into the shadows and not knowing what happened to Della from the fight

My guess is that Scrooge commissioned Professor Ludwig Von Drake and Gyro Gearloose to build a rocket ship that would allow quick travel to and from the Moon. Being great friends with Selene, Della suggested that the rocket be named "The Spear of Selene," to honor the Goddess of the Moon. But it was an experimental rocket that Scrooge had commissioned, and forbade Della from using it! Knowing of the possible treasures that the Great Cosmos would hold, Della took the Spear, anyway, and used it to go after a treasure of the Moon: The Green Cheese of Longevity! She might have taken it, but getting back to Earth was kinda hard, because of a black hole and great misunderstanding of how rocket controls work compared to airplane controls. Maybe within the Black Hole, she had to eat some of that Green Cheese of Longevity, just to retain her youthful age, but might have ended up reverting to an egg. Okay, that's just odd. I mean, since when is the Green Cheese Of Longevity a consumable version of the Fountain Of Youth?
hmmm.... going on the space theory and looking at Della's room I can't help but notice the moon goddess. Because she really looks like she's pointing at something and I don't think it's the moon. I'm just going out on a limb here but what if she's pointing to where Della went? One of the small dots on there could be a planet after all. Though I think the spear of Selene could be a plane. After all her character design (as much as I've seen it and remember of it) kinda resembles a pilot, heck there's even a picture of her next to a plane. But what still confuses me is that in the note she apologized, meaning she was most likely about to do something extremely crazy. So either she left a note knowing Scrooge would be aware of where she was going, or the spear of Selene is an actual item and was named after Selene by other people, I mean that last option is slightly possible right? Maybe? I don't know at this point.

The figure is not holding a spear, it is either a trident or a staff, it's far too complicated to be the humble spear. I think if the spear of selene is a vehicle it's a boat, as we see a lot of boat imagery in association with della, or a plane as there is also plane association with her. Donald blames scrooge for what happened though, and If della simply took a vehicle he owned without his permission it would be her own fault what happened as a result. I think the spear of selene could also be a code or symbol for a choice she made that resulted in her getting hurt or killed.
The creative team said the show was going to be everything ducktales. This may be a lead into the moon level in the game, and/or to the last part of super ducktales.

I do believe that something Della related was intended for Webby, but I think she's her own separate character who's being used to give us an idea of what Della was like and to cause family angst; like Dewey. x3
Both kids are the most like Della, and I think their friendships could be hinting at a couple of connections she could have had. Webby and Lena's friendship could be reflecting a connection Della had with Magica while Dewey's growing friendship with Launchpad could be hinting that he too is connected to Della in some way.

I think the Spear of Selene still could be an actual spear. And artifact. Webby and Dewey were just looking for a wrong mythology.
My guess is that the spear could actually belong to another moon goddes, like romanin Luna. The figure on the painted sealing in the archive room seems to be a dog person rather then a bird person. And Rome is closely associated with wolfs, so it's a possibility.
But yeah, some sort of transport sounds very convincing too. Probably a rocket or space shuttle. Probably.
I think Webby is on the right track. I mean, if Selene doesn't know what it is then it could be something else. I also like the vehichle theory. I think the Spear of Selene could be in the Moneybin. "I've taken the Spear of Selene from the Moneybin, sorry I know you don't like anyone in there." It could be that. So Scrooge might know something about the Spear of Selene.
It's possible its an item, but the name was changed from something else, so Selene wouldn't know about it. It could possibly be connected with Hecate, a deity of magic who is also known among the 3 stages of the moon/womanhood along with Artemis/Selene. It would be a good connection to both Magica and the mythological world as well as a better explanation than simply leaving.
Or it could be a red herring, and the spear was a diversion to possibly explain away a potential kidnapping, which would explain why her children aren't brought up in this letter.

She did go to space AND lost in space by the rocket and Scrooge McDuck sends all the rocket by his money and hired people to find her. But Dewey, Huey and Louie didn’t believe him and blame him for what he did. Oh, and that time, he almost ran out of money.
It's an interesting theory and I think the best way to figure it out would be Scrooge and Donald's response to space travel which is something that hasn't been brought up yet if I'm not mistaken, those two are the only ones in our story who know what the Spear of Selene is and honestly Donald gave us a rather vague idea of what happened to her. He just said "She's gone" which could mean anything to her dead, possessed, or just out in space but at the same time, where is her husband? Della is a mystery but we know that there isn't even a picture of her husband on the Duck Family Tree, let alone a name.
Maybe the Spear of Selene is a challenge that Della couldn't resist.

I actually remember reading that comic in the Donald Duck magazine (IDK if it was an old one or from when I was still subscribed three years ago): She launched into space and had Donald take care of the nephews, but due to her speed, time warped and even though for her she had left 2 minutes ago, it was really 10 years. In the comic she "skypes" with the nephews (IIRC thanks to Gyro Gearloose/Willie Wortel) but doesn't recognize them. They decide to not tell the truth and let her keep flying. I never knew it was a Dutch exclusive, so I found it weird nobody adressed it!

I saw a comment about Webby being Della and once I thought about it it really made sense magica gave Scrooge a magic item that couldn't be disposed of that Della took to keep uncle Scrooge and Donald safe so she got turned back into a baby knowing Della would do this magica planned to do this all along so she was going to capture the baby Della and use her for what I'm not sure yet but then Scrooge keeps her safe under the identity of Webby that's why Scrooge bought the post office so magica couldn't track her that also explains why Lena made friends with Webby first not to mention Webby being Della would make sense considering how after the booby traps she comforted Dewey like a mother would and on one of the title screens it shows webby pulling Donald with a grapling hook which resembles the picture where Della is pushing Donald's face in the cake Donald even has the same face plus in the new webby reacts shorts one was Andi Mack about her sister actually being her mother which would be just like if webby the triplets adopted sister was there mother coincidence I think not I think magica webby and Della are definitely all connected even If I'm wrong I have a feeling all three will be connected somehow

With the recent episode _The Last Crash of the Sunchaser_ your theory about the Spear of Selene being a vehicle was 100% correct good sir! Though it’s still very heartbreaking and tragic for both the boys, Donald and for Scrooge.

My guess is that Scrooge commissioned Professor Ludwig Von Drake and Gyro Gearloose to build a rocket ship that would allow quick travel to and from the Moon. Being great friends with Selene, Della suggested that the rocket be named "The Spear of Selene," to honor the Goddess of the Moon. But it was an experimental rocket that Scrooge had commissioned, and forbade Della from using it! Knowing of the possible treasures that the Great Cosmos would hold, Della took the Spear, anyway, and used it to go after a treasure of the Moon: The Green Cheese of Longevity! She might have taken it, but getting back to Earth was kinda hard, because of a black hole and great misunderstanding of how rocket controls work compared to airplane controls. Maybe within the Black Hole, she had to eat some of that Green Cheese of Longevity, just to retain her youthful age, but might have ended up reverting to an egg. Okay, that's just odd. I mean, since when is the Green Cheese Of Longevity a consumable version of the Fountain Of Youth?

hmmm.... going on the space theory and looking at Della's room I can't help but notice the moon goddess. Because she really looks like she's pointing at something and I don't think it's the moon. I'm just going out on a limb here but what if she's pointing to where Della went? One of the small dots on there could be a planet after all. Though I think the spear of Selene could be a plane. After all her character design (as much as I've seen it and remember of it) kinda resembles a pilot, heck there's even a picture of her next to a plane. But what still confuses me is that in the note she apologized, meaning she was most likely about to do something extremely crazy. So either she left a note knowing Scrooge would be aware of where she was going, or the spear of Selene is an actual item and was named after Selene by other people, I mean that last option is slightly possible right? Maybe? I don't know at this point.

The figure is not holding a spear, it is either a trident or a staff, it's far too complicated to be the humble spear. I think if the spear of selene is a vehicle it's a boat, as we see a lot of boat imagery in association with della, or a plane as there is also plane association with her. Donald blames scrooge for what happened though, and If della simply took a vehicle he owned without his permission it would be her own fault what happened as a result. I think the spear of selene could also be a code or symbol for a choice she made that resulted in her getting hurt or killed.
