    Very solid list. I want to add for the E to SE Queens extension, although the E via Atlantic is good, I believe regional rail is best for both Atlantic and Montauk. This will serve a huge portion of SE Queens, but even with this increased coverage, there are still spots that have poor transit service. So, I would extend the E to those areas, like Cambria Heights.

      I was thinking extending the J, where it will turn south and use the LIRR Belmont Park Branch and then continue south to Cambria Heights.

      The MTA would have to work on the tunnel where the lay up tracks remain, continue under the LIRR and turn on linden Blvd to that point a total of six stations potentially or you can the J take that proposal and have the E train extension along Guy R Brewer Blvd and JFK expressway to access the airport if it's considered while improvements can be made to both of the LIRR branches if you're trying to go for the regional rail

    I wholeheartedly agree with all of ur proposals, I would extend 3 more lines. Extending the 7 & the Q trains to New Jersey and the L train to 72 St on the West side. With stops at 23rd St, 34th St Javits center, 42nd St, Columbus Circle & 72nd St!!! The West side of Manhattan is expected with the completion of Hudson Yards & north of Lincoln Tunnel!!!! Also a major repair terminal for the IRT # lines 2, 3,4 & 5 and maybe extending the # 3 train to the Gateway Center & maybe Shirley Chisholm State Park, if developed????

    1. Inter-borough Express
    Good, I think it should be extended to north woodside ore Astoria(by the NEC) to connnect with Metro North’s Penn Station Access, it should also go to St. George Staten Island
    2. Nostrand Avenue Subway
    Yes
    3. Utica Avenue Subway
    Very much needed, should have been the MTA’s top priority for a while
    4. Second Ave subway crosstown
    Yes, it should end by the A, C, B, D line station. 125st on the 1 line is way to high up for a in-system transfer, @Mystic Transit explains it perfectly (in his video about it)
    5. 7 line extension
    Definitely, very much needed
    6.
    Yes
    7. Definitely not, it would decrease capacity for the LIRR and hurt the South Shore Branches very much, the LIRR should just increase service and add infill station
    8. Very much needed, should have been the MTA’s top priority for a while
    9. Just extend the IBX to Staten Island and restore SIR North shore branch
    10. Definitely Queenslink, no reason not to choose it

      Most of the plans I agree but the second avenue subway needs to connect with the 1, that can be done by ending the line at 137 street either under Broadway or work around it using riverside avenue. The IBX extension to the SIR north shore branch requires a tunnel connection and flood protection on the north shore branch

    Since you’ve suggested extending the subway to Green Acres Mall, I’d like to suggest some other suburban extensions that seems like a no-brainer: extending the 1 from Van Cortlandt Park to Getty Square in downtown Yonkers, and the 2 from Wakefield to downtown Mt. Vernon (where it could potentially connect to the New Haven line). It’s ridiculous how, unlike say Chicago or Boston, NYC’s subway just stops at the city line-these innermost suburbs are relatively affordable, pro-growth, and could support a ton of new housing, but their appeal is limited because they’re not on the subway.

    The Nostrand Avenue Line extension and the Utica Avenue Line should be built at the same time. For the Nostrand extension it would be a four station extension with stations at Avenue K, Kings Highway, Avenue S, and Voorhies Avenue, with all stations being built 100 to 140 feet deep underground. The area could also be served by a cable car system running from Flatbush Avenue station to Emmons Avenue with six stops, but a cable car system would become overloaded really fast and cable cars have low capacity despite being able to move people more frequently than subways. I originally suggested a three station underground extension of the line to Kings Plaza, however I concluded that extending the line would put Flatbush Avenue station way over capacity and overload the B44 bus, as the Nostrand corridor has higher bus ridership than the Flatbush corridor (serves by B41).

    My thoughts and opinions about the MTA NYCT Subway project extension, they should build is.
    1. The Inter Borough Express Train's should run between St. George station to connect to Staten Island Railway in Staten Island, Brooklyn, Queens and The Bronx Co-Op City to connect to the Metro-North Rail Road to and from Connecticut and the (6) Train.
    2. The (6) Train should be extend to Co-Op City to connect the Inter Borough Express and the Metro-North Rail Road to and from Connecticut in The Bronx.
    3. The (E) Train should be extend to Rosedale Francis Lewis Boulevard Station Greene Acres Mall to connect the Long Island Rail Road for Southeast Queens.
    4. The (F) Train on the Hillside Avenue extension should be extend to Floral Park Atlantic Avenue/Caroline Place Nassau County to connect the Long Island Rail Road, also run via 53rd Street Tunnel with the (E) Train at all times.
    5. The (N) Train extension to Holliswood 209th Street Station in Queens stop at La Guardia Airport station to connect to the La Guardia Airtrain to La Guardia Airport and Mets Willets Points station transfer to the (7) Train on the upper level for Mets fan like me, same idea like the (D) Train The Bronx, last stop Norwood 205th Street Station, also like 161st Street Yankee Stadium Station. Plus the (W) Train should be extend to Fresh Meadows Hollis CT Boulevard Station in Queens with the 2 Island platforms like the (B) Train ends at Bedford Park Boulevard Station in The Bronx on rush hours.
    6. The Second Avenue Subway Phase II for the (Q) Train should be extend to Manhattanville 12 Avenue/125th Street Station along with the (T) Train, connect to the Metro-North Rail Road of the Hudson Line for the Penn Station Access.
    7. Second Avenue Subway on the Lower Manhattan Hangover Squard Station for the (T) Train should go to Brooklyn for the Utica Avenue Subway to extend to Kings Plaza shopping center mall.
    8. Queens Link for the 6th Avenue (M) Train should be extend to The Rockaway's with the (A) Trian at all times, to replace The Rockaway Park Shuttle Train especially run via 63rd Street Tunnel.
    9. Nostrand Avenue Subway for the (2)/(5) Train should be extend to Manhattan Beach.
    10. (7) Train should be extend to Whitestone and add College Point station for the shopping center mall. Have the (7) Train run 12-Cars instead of 11-Cars. All (7) Train station platforms should have 12-Cars platforms instead of 11-Cars platforms.
    11. (L) Train extension to The Bronx Co-Op City Station, transfer to the (6) Train. Connect to the Metro-North Rail Road and the Inter Borough Express.
    12. There should be Cambria Heights Springfield Boulevard Station for the (C) Train, while the (A) Train handle The Rockaway's with the (M) Train.
    13. The (3)/(4) Train's should be extend to Spring Creek Gateway Center Mall.
    14. Extend the Franklin Avenue Shuttle Train to Bedford Nostrand Avenue's station, transfer to the (G) Train.
    15. The (B) Train should be extend to Ocean Parkway Station in Brooklyn, transfer to the (Q) Train.
    16. Extend the (J)/(Z) Train's to Elmont-Belmont Park Racetrack-UBS Arena Station to connect with the Long Island Rail Road on the main line.
    17. Extend the (1) Train to Yonkers.

    Greetings Urban Man. There was talk many years ago of extending the 7 train to New Jersey, and it never happen. If there is an intrest in it again, for the 7 train, MTA should extend the L train to New Jersey. Would like to the North Shore of the Stane Island Rapid transit be activated, for the North Shore, and send it to the Staten Island Mall and parts of New Jersey. Including Six Flags amusement park in New Jersey. Great video by the way.

    What the city REALLY needs is a dedicated express line that connects the areas Airports. Imagine a train going between Newark, JFK, and LGA? Also, extending the 7 train isn't necessary. The LIRR is a way faster option to get to Manhattan and if you need to get to Flushing, you can get a transfer at the Flushing-Main Street stop or Woodside.

    • @GobbiExists
      @GobbiExists Місяць тому +1

      @@LeonardBMCcCoy For Flushing, the problem is that the station is already overcrowded due to people on buses all transferring to the 7 train at Flushing-Main St. So, building new stations in Whitestone and Bayside would make the 7 train even more crowded (most likely), but stations wouldn’t be as crowded. You could build a terminal like Hudson Yards which can turn a bunch of trains (but is handicapped by Flushing Main st being the terminal) so then, you can run tons of 7 trains.

    The only way this would happen now is if NY & NJ come to an agreement on the congestion pricing - even if the Hudson River tunnels' CP pricing proceeds were to be diverted to New Jersey Transit for improving train service and rail infrastructure into Manhattan or the Port Authority takes over the CP collection and assumes responsibility for the subways and commuter rails in the tri-state area.
    If the IBX were to be built, it should be built as a light metro or a high-floor level boarding light rail line with a tunnel underneath the cemetary instead of in Metropolitan Avenue with mixed traffic.

    7 train extension, I agree with, but not as the 7 train. It is EXTREMELY overcrowded and adding more trains will reduce capacity. I think they should cut and cover Roosevelt Ave and build a track highway underneath. I also believe that they should take the N&W and extend them all the way to Flushing Main Street, with a stop at Laguardia Airport, finally giving the airport the subway connection it so desperately needs. I also propose converting Main Street in Flushing into a massive connection hub, In this way, you will then permit the N or the W to run into College Point after Main Street. Going further, I believe that the Q train should become a large loop, turning East at 125st and 2nd Ave, going underneath the East River to link up with the N&W at Ditmars Blvd before going to Main Street. In this way, we relieve the capacity problems on the 7 train and increase access and flexbility in northern queens. I also believe that the C train should be extended all the way to Jamaica, eliminating the stub section on the A train. Train service to the Rockaways should simply become shuttle trains rather than full regular service due to cost. The R train should be extended to Staten Island, as the tunnels and space have already been left for it decades ago. The L train should go to Hudson Yards/Penn Station on the west side, increasing connectivity. Many bus routes in Manhattan that have dedicated bus lanes should instead be converted into protected tram lines due to capacity.

    • @Urban_Man
      @Urban_Man  5 місяців тому

      I prefer the LIRR Port Washington conversion to regional rail, which parallels and reliefs the 7.

    • @TheRailLeaguer
      @TheRailLeaguer 12 днів тому

      Extending the 7 train will not cause overcrowding. Extending it via Northern Blvd (the only commercial route and the only route suitable for subway service) will actually redistribute the load from Flushing Main Street to the various new stations along the extension, resulting in a less crowded ride for everyone. Oh and it should result in more frequent service.
