lmao the last guy is just chilling and then he's on the internet with 44,000 people looking at him lmaoo
Still being a fairly recently "qualified" driver, I always give learners at least 3-4 seconds space, especially if they seem extra nervous/appear to be very early in their learning; simply because I remember how poorly I was treated when I had L plates on my car.
While I appreciate that nobody likes a grass, I saw a van plastered in business logos the other day, tailing a learner (who was actually doing a decent speed themselves) and was keeping about 2 feet from their rear the whole time, constantly having to brake because of the horrible separation distance.
I took a note of the registration of the van and decided to message the business' Facebook page, and as luck would have it, I was speaking to the very same driver, who seemed rather embarrassed and apologetic 😂
I appreciate grasses - the police couldn't do their job without them! It should've gone straight to the coppers, I think. Cheers.
3:50 - Don't you know you are meant to continually beep your horn, accelerate right up behind the van and tailgate before uploading a clip like this?
You’re also meant to shout “YoU’rE oN cAmErA!” as well 😄
@@sanfordcurtis8242 And greet them like royalty - "'King Hell!"
You've been watching too much Dashcam UK I think! 😆
nah you are meant to floor it into the junction and sideswipe the van, blare the horn after impact and accuse them of having relations with their father
Forgot the high-beams mate
7:26 I'm more impressed with how calm Ashley was almost losing his beamer in a crash
The insurance would cover it
As a bus driver, nothing irks me more than when somebody storms past to then immediately wish to turn right. Apart from holding me up when I'm trying to keep to a timetable, it also blocks the whole flow of traffic behind as nobody can get past. Just stay back and be patient!
But don't you know, they're the only people who matter! Everyone else is just an inconvenience getting in their way
Good point. I am not aware of such phenomena in the US.
I once turned the wrong way into a one way street in Stirling , in the late 70’s when I’d not long been driving .
However the street had literally been made one way the night before and I stopped immediately when I saw the signs .
There was a traffic warden standing there laughing ; he told me that there had been a couple of dozen people had done the same thing , and that for the first day they were not issuing tickets , then he guided me back out into the main road .
The red light jumper at 1:57 was the worst I have seen. The light was red well before he could see it but he never even thought about stopping.
Time for regular re-testing. It would give people like Ashley a few more customers!
Bad driving regardless, but I've got a feeling it might have been a police car.
@Lancashirelad Eyesight test as part of getting your insurance, that said it's more about attitude to driving and giving a shit about people's safety that impinges on incident levels massively more so than outright eyesight level.
In certain drivers it isn't so much their eyesight but their ability to think, know what to do and react, and the faster you go and or try to do too many things at once the more chance of stuffing up you have.
If the government were being serious about safety they'd simply lower speed limits everywhere (excluding motorways and dual trunk roads) with speed controlled limiters set by the limit signs via wifi or satellite signal (Something the EU are supposed to be bringing in for new motors) and and have a maximum power output for all motors alongside better training and polciing.
But they don't give a shit about the carnage caused
The whole place was deserted so not really the worst ever. Only his speed was quite high so that's a point. It's a great example of how inefficient traffic lights actually are. To much time with people just standing there waiting for absolutely nothing. You'd think by now in 2021 we would have more sophisticated systems.
There is a 1 year backlog for testing as is. and you suggest adding millions more to the waiting list?
@@Jafmanz You seem to assume that the number of instructors & examiners would remain the same. This would not be the case. Supply would meet demand. Anyone who genuinely considers themselves a good driver would welcome it.
Does taking a Range Rover the wrong way down a one way count as going off-road?
I certainly hope the driver is off-the-road soon.
Among the elite it is called going off piste.
I think taking it off the pavement does.
Funny, yesterday I saw a range river do precisely that and thought the same!
LMAO!! The end of the video was funniest ... “skanky fella picking his nose and eating it”🤣🤣🤣
You're an incredible instructor. Thank you. I've been driving cars and bikes (and boats and push-bikes) for years, I wish everyone learned from someone like you. You need to report some of the vehicles in this video.
That last clip, one day I'll find it in myself to forgive you Ash 😂🤣
Good channel mate.
Great instruction and making your pupils more aware of general road craft 👍🏻
Another great video Ashley, That guy at the end was digging for gold for sure
I’ve got to say bud you have the perfect voice for a driving instructor it’s great 👍🏻 👍🏻👍🏻
Got a test tomorrow watching everything possible
The best of luck to you. I hope you do well.
good luck
the last clip is most important to your test
Good luck
☠💀😐⚰⚱ good luck
I love watching your vids, brings me back to when I lived in scousepool!
Biggest driving fail was the taxi driver I saw today with both hands off the wheel doing a scratchcard.
"professional driver"
Buggers are a good source of protein so are ideal for driving long hourneys
Bear Grylls would be proud of that lad.
What are hourneys?
legend has it that eating your nose junk boosts immune system.
See it often in rear view mirror at traffic lights, yuk
It was you snacking while waiting in that car then!
Stuck in traffic and it's illegal to use your mobile phone, what else are you going to do apart from mining for boogers?
+many respect points for offering to help out the lady who was backing into the wall
Not gonna lie I've done the "drive into a one way" mistake. Oopsie daisy *facepalm* we live (hopefully) and learn
It can be easy to do, for me also I’ve seen whilst driving in London, if you are to focused on sat navs, they often aren’t up to date with the ever changing roads there, many a time I find my route on the map impossible as there are large plant pots and boulders blocking roads where the maps say are accessible.
Jesus, Ashley. I was having my breakfast, man!! 😂😂
Sir Ashley, did you notice the chap, the pedestrian on your left at 02:40, running towards the road that you were on? It looks like he was trying to get the attention of the driver of the white car ( the idiot that over-took your learner driver ).
I wonder if it had just been stolen or something 🤔
@@CustomiZe_ excellent point 🤔
You could see the white focus desperation to overtake just by their lane positioning the entire time. Before they were even slowed by letting someone out of the turning. Sad and pointless
They were desperate to wait at that red light longer so they can finish their Instagram post.
@@thecraigmachine69 And use a bit more fuel and brake pad depth, as a cyclist the classic MGIF is common place for me *even though I'm faster than the average cyclist) and mostly hilarious, particularly when I filter past to an ASL or when they're stationary in a queue some point a few hundred yards up the road. Just turn my heaad and laugh at them :D
When your close behind the car in front you cannot usually see far ahead either, to see your overtaking is a waste of time because the lights ahead are against you anyway. It didn't click with that white Focus driver they weren't even looking a hundred yards ahead.
@@ynotnilknarf39 haha as a cyclist too, I see this all the time as well. Utter knob heads many drivers are.
@@marklittler784 spot on. I see this every time I’m driving. Folk literally travel 60mph and 4 feet behind a HGV on a country road/motorway. I just view it as natural selection. Unfortunately they put innocent, decent folk in danger too.
Ever since I passed, I occasionally watch these, just to check I don’t show up on them! Lol
Things I have seen this week….
People speeding around roundabouts, switching lanes, going in & out of traffic….
First occasion was a single car. 2nd occasion was 2 cars racing each other in and out of heavy traffic.
On the fun examples….remember that Zafira clip you posted….one in front of me attempted to turn round in the most narrow junction ever…..couldn’t do it….drove over the path. But the driver didn’t realise and was stuck across the road…..before deciding to climb the kerb.
Play devils advocate, the black 3 series estate could've been a police car, but even still without lights is still dangerous...
the part 2 trining looks like the top of Hall lane, one of my favourite cycling routes up or down but the amount of drivers you see stopped on that top where she is is so bad..
Sometimes they can not use the lights or the siren, when they are close to an incident but they have to wait for other cars or marked cars.
@@chrishar110 I know that can be one of their tactics they have at their disposal, it would surprise me in an area like that they would use that though...
@@chrishar110 I think the car was very close to the kerb after passing by, right next to four pedestrians on the pavement if I was going fast I would keep far away from the pavement as possible on a empty or fairly empty road even a couple of feet over the centre line even though the Response trained Police wouldn't.
I'd be very surprised if that was a police driver. I'm very local to this spot, just another example of dangerous driving by one of the many scumbags who unfortunately infest the area.
Good to see someone driving in the bus lane when it is permitted!
At 2:27 If I had been behind Ash I would not have expected his car to slow down and stop to let the driver out on the right. There were 2 cars still approaching and it was Ash's right of way, stopping interrupted the flow of traffic and in my opinion was dangerous, (and probably why the white car overtook). I see this more and more now, ppl slowing down or stopping even when it is their right of way and tbh it boils my blood. Slower traffic and nothing approaching then fair enough.
i tend to agree with you here, that wasn't a reasonable situation to let someone out. Chances are, that caused an unnecessary queue of traffic behind the learner for no apparent reason. Giving learners a bad reputation. I can see why the white car overtook (though personally, i wouldn't have), this made the learner seem unpredictable.
White car driver: "who the F is teaching them to drive"
@@SoupDragon63 there is definitely a time & a place for such pro-social behaviour ..but imo, this definitely wasn't one of them
Picking yer nose an eatin it, isn’t illegal, but . . .
Im guilty of it too
"It's not illegal but it's something I wouldn't do"
Nose crust can't just be flung out the window.
I can understand picking your nose, but eating it is beyond my level...
It should be in the Highway Code as a warning ⚠️ to watch for drivers who do this 🤣🤣🤣
It's not just the learner cars Ashley. It's the "I must drive in front so I feel like Hamilton" attitude.
If I got a cent every time someone sits on my back fender, then overtakes only to go sit on my front fender, I would have made 3 cents today.
Thanks Ashley. Made me feel sick at the end.
4:10 - those crossroads are badly designed for any number of reasons. But presumbly you know the bus lane is open but there is no signage on the turning to say that a driver can use it!
This video should instead be named:
"Ashley is continually disappointed by peoples driving skills and self awareness"
That was excellent as always Ashley. You sure know how to pick 'em! If I had to pick the most off-putting clip, I'd definitely be picking that last one. 🙂
I've also noticed over the years that quite often when another driver does something stupid, you have a bit of suppressed laugh about it, rather than get into a rage over it. The clip with be car coming from your right to left from what was a one way street the opposite way from that point on being the latest example. Good on you for remaining so calm.
Think there may be a little more to the one @2:46 - If you look to the left you can see a pedestrian on the street who seems to be running to catch someone's attention. As soon as he becomes visible the Ford makes an attempt to overtake and the pedestrian watching seems to give up on trying to catch attention. My guess is the Ford did not want to stop/catch the attention of the pedestrian and therefore made the overtake to get away. For what reason? Who knows, but they certainly seemed as if they didn't want to stop for them.
Loved the last clip. As my daughter would say. Dad it was class with a K 🤣
3:56 who said love is dead? Isn’t that how they did it before instant messaging?
Always love the analysis and learnings from your clips!
I often like driving behind a learner in adriving school car. I get a chance to relax and observe to see how they deal with junctions etc to see what I can learn.
Maybe a good idea if the instructor was driving, but the learner is a learner for a reason so prone to mistakes that are best not emulated.
I remember when I first started driving lessons and the BSM instructor would talk about “gas” and “gas pressure” etc and I hadn’t got a bloody clue what he was talking about I was under the impression that cars ran on petrol. Gas was what powered my cooker. It took several lessons before it dawned on me that he meant the accelerator. In fact, I think I had to ask a friend why the Instructor kept talking about gas. Very unhelpful, when you are new to driving! I’ve never heard anybody since then refer to “gas”, not even when (many years later) I worked in a petrol station.
Gas is short for gasoline, American term for petrol. It's borrowed from American English, gas pedal, step on the gas, hit the gas, give it more gas.
You're instructor was trying to be American😂
I swear that first one seems to happen every other month on these and at that same junction too!
These are some high quality dash cams
So what was going on at 4:30 then? Had they hit the wall? I really didn't understand that clip
4:02 I don't mind right turners doing what the van did though I think the van was going to swing over to the left lane straightaway thinking no one was there, there's usually no reason why the width of the road should restrict this in most cases. Another case where its taken as cheeky but helps traffic flow.
Its Cashcow' time here down at the south coast catching the unaware unfamiliar..Speed camera vans!! hitting the Tourist weekender yes hiding on A road bends, laybys looking like a contracter van with the familiar motorway maintenance chevrons..Beware A35 -A354 to weymouth - B3157 Jurassic coast road near Portisham... speed awareness cources are now open down here £100 plus half a day off work..Beware!
Speeding is not unusual where the speed limit is not crystal clear.
What wall! Ha..years ago, I had bought a new small Peugeot 106 and went to a camping and caravanning site for hols. The site had those twisty narrow ‘roads’ (tarmac’d paths), bordered by knee high walls…While backing up I lost sight of the nearside wall behind ….Crunch! 😂 Just a paint touch up job, but embarrassing.
I don't mind people driving fast but when people fly up to red lights its obvious they're not looking far ahead and these are the last ones on the road you want flying down the road, if you drive fast you really need to be on the ball and understand others might not be expecting you to.
I have never done that to learners. I deliberately give them just a little more room. As signal to at least the instructor that I will remain out of the way. I remember though my instructor telling me to watch out for people trying to help you are a learner, and not to do it once you past, as it actually makes things worse for them. Just let them get on with it, but don't crowd them or be impatient with them. They really don't delay you more than a few seconds.
Ashley.
Where you passed me yesterday when you turned right out of edge lane onto Holt Road.
The first street on the left by the health centre another no entry.
Cars go the wrong way up that street all the time.
7/10 of them taxis
Remember the Green Cross code " Keep looking and LISTENING " Drivers really need to get their windows down especially at junctions or on the approach to junctions and in the inner city areas so they can use they're sense of hearing to their full advantage. Windows down allows other drivers to see you and where your looking as well as enabling you to use hand signals.
I always drive with the windows cracked, even when it's pissing it down.
Was the last guy following the Green Cross code?
A few years ago I sitting in traffic waiting for the light to change. The guy behind me was doing something really strange. He did it 3 times. The guy was only sniffing ladies underwear. 🤮😂
Gives a whole new meaning to protein snacking on the go!
And the classic MGIF to get one car length in front, utterly pethetic driving!
One end of my road is no entry, because it's narrow, I see people drive the wrong way into it almost everyday, they use it a shortcut, some drivers also do 40-50mph on our 20mph road, there is going to be a horrible accident at some point.
It's things like this that put me off learning to drive for years.
Picking your nose and eating it isn't a necessary part of driving, so don't worry! :D
Not sure but if you look closely it looks like there is a light mounted in the top right corner of the windshield on the black 3er
I like the fact you Asked those ladies in the white Ford if they needed help, rather than blasting the horn
I've driven around Liverpool and they seem to have their own 'vairsion' of the highway code.
Behind the Range Rover ignoring the No Entry sign is a VW sitting in the box junction. Shouldn't be stopped there unless they're also turning right so are they also going to ignore the No Entry sign?
"U" turn?
@@ashley_neal in that case, is waiting in a box junction allowed when U-turning? Presumably a U-turn is a right-turn.
Time to boogie! A great pick!
got an Ad for carphone warehouse that used the same music as your intro. thought you had a sponsor for a minute AHA
4:06 dealt with that very well
Consider a sunroof, far less draft and noise than with the windows down and less preying hands, with more light especially if its glass.
3:42 black mini behind the van runs the light
That range rover ignoring the no entry.
I see that happen every day at work
@Ashley neal
At 2:42 a guy runs out on the right it looks like hes waving at your car then in the rear view hes seems to be still looking at your car did you see him.
Do you report the law breakers?
4:05 the police van sits and does nothing ffs
They ain't gonna give chase for that lol they have much more important thing to worry about than some being cut up and to be far to the van driver his view was restricted by the blue ford.
Yes police VAN, that means it isn't a pursuit or traffic unit. The police have lots of teams, including forensic science, vehicle maintenance, in fact many police staff in vans who aren't even officers.
Yes thanks I’ve been studying in depth policing for 2 years. It would most likely have been an ordinary patrol van by the looks of it although it could have been a riot van but that’s unlikely because there is no grids on the windshield. Big vans like that don’t often pursuit for obvious reasons due to their size and lack of miniver ability.
The lad was hungry. Should have offered him a slice of bread to go with it meany. If he'd gone in any deeper though I think his head would have caved in.
My mum used to say exactly that! Your head will cave in, or are you digging for gold?
Would you fail a test for not doing an emergency brake at 7:30?
4.02 Now I presume that van either didn't see you were there because you had no learner sign on the roof or did and presumed it was a learner that would be turning slowly, notice how there's a big difference being seen with the sign on and being seen with the sign off.
2:30 now when I’m driving in London, you have to do this as it’s impossible to get out. But I’ve see. You before saying you should never let people out like this.
Years ago I was following a guy who was smoking in his car. He knocked the ash of his ciggie and it blew in through my side window straight into my eye. Not great, but at least he wasn’t picking his nose instead!
Thanks alot Ashley I'm eating a cookie and show the guy picking his nose then eating it I was nearly sick lol
What was wrong with the fiesta?
Oh how I wish I wasn't eating when watching that last clip...
Is it me or has the standard of driving around Liverpool probably the worst outside London. Was driving to the speed limit of 30mph at the end of the M62, Rocket junction when a girl drove through the red light on queens drive. I had to slam on the brakes, if I was going any faster I couldn’t have stopped. A near miss averted.
It’s only since subscribing to your channel which has made me more aware of the potential dangers from other road users, I’ve been driving for 32 years. 😀👍🏻
You've obviously never driven in East Lancashire, or Bradford!
Bradford is apparently really bad.
Can also personally vouch for Ipswich and North Essex as having crap driving as well.
It appears that the traffic laws are optional in Liverpool.
Who's the pedestrian. On the left at 2:43 waving at our car?
We are in July Ashley :)
3:05 the guys registration plate DMV lol
Overtake to turn right or left immediately or get really close behind a car and then turn off. Why?
People who do this have very little common sense 🤦
Often, overtake, then hit brakes to make turn, as you're accelerating to merge into traffic.
Simple fuckwittery, there is no logical explanation for these types.
@@ynotnilknarf39 Folks appear to get so hypnotized by what they need to do, that they take no account of needs of other drivers, even to the extent that it could actually be better for them. I watch people race me to red lights, as I'm slowing down. I hit the light rolling as it turns green, having saved fuel, brakes and maybe time, and look at them in my rear view mirror.
1:14 what the heck was He trying to do. Good point you make Ashley He was to close behind the lorry. Should of left more space to see the road ahead.
May I just ask if it’s safe (ie you can see the road opposite for oncoming traffic), why can’t you skip one or two cars to go down the side road?
From "one or two cars" back, can you see down the side road and what is or isn't approaching from it?
I’m sorry but there is almost no excuse for dangerous driving. Anyone caught dangerous driving should have their license taken away and made to resit their test. I’m sick to death of getting daily abuse because I’m sticking to the speed limit and trying to drive safely. When I passed my test in 1991 I admit I drove like an absolute idiot for a while but after a few minor accidents and plenty of new tyres later I changed my attitude. Great video as always. 👍👍👍
I get flashed, beeped at, overtaken dangerously driving on a stretch of road that is a 40 limit, every day to work. I drive relatively early in the morning but every car that was behind me overtook me at well over 60mph. It happens daily on the same stretch of road. It infuriates me. I worked bloody hard to get my license and people like these videoed abuse theirs daily.
@@laureni6427 hopefully karma will prevail. One day there will be a speed trap hopefully. In my experience slow and steady gets you to your destination just as quickly.
Not gonna lie was nearly sick when I watched the last clip
I feel like the BMW at 2:00 may have been an unmarked traffic cop. Although it looks brazen from the clip, traffic are advanced drivers and they would decide whether that was a risk or not - and depending on context/circumstances they don't need to activate warning equipment as long as it could be justified
I thought it was race after them as fast as you can as soon as they overtake to prove it was pointless overtaking? 😂😂
8:25 If Ashley Neal's Driving School gets up your nose, Picket!
What are the range rover's lights doing at 1:38? Do they dim themselves when you're stopped?
Think the driver changed the setting while stopped, they didn’t change back when they moved off.
However my DRLs turn off when the parking brake is engaged
@@alanmorrison163 Ah makes sense, cheers man!
Alternatively, it could be that they automatically came on passing through the trees and then switched back to DRL after the light improved.
2:33 Yeah, he was impatient, but not much wrong with that, I don't think. Rather have him in front than tailgating.
3:35 Van should have stopped, but it did cross on the amber, but check out the Mini crossing on the red.
5:53 Volvo driver talking on the phone like nobody's business.
7:35 And that's why I always look both ways, because there is such a thing as people running red lights, people driving on the wrong side of the road, and most importantly: emergency vehicles.
The guy at the end is obviously quite hungry 🤣
I prefer a Snickers to be me again.
3:40 and an RLJ from the Mini
This is in liverpool isnt it? I live near some of these
Oh come on Ashley, I was just having a little snack!
I’ve been on the road for 6 weeks and it ain’t no fun so many dickheads is unbelievable everyone seems to be in such a rush got cut off at Broadway roundabout yesterday he was in the inside and changed his mind and cut straight across me! I was second away from crashing into his side 😞
If you buy a range or Aldi you are exempt as long as you use your hazards and fog lights
It's a good and bad point with drivers overtaking or pulling out infront of you. Bad meaning it's quite scary for learners but good as they will learn how to encounter these situations in the future
It's good as long as there isn't a collision because if there is, that will have the opposite effect and possibly turn learners off driving altogether.
Surely if a junction is causing lots of incidents then a redesign is nessesary? Or is that too forward thinking of me?
Probably seen as a two lane road, with a part time bus lane.
01:10 German 21 plate car. Says it all really
At 1:00 what is that car doing there, I don’t think the car either knows what’s it’s doing
when i did my first driving lesson i had i had to do an emergency stop because some idiot van started to pull out of the intersection when i was driving past my instructor said i did a good job with the stop
I had I had? You okay?
