thank you for the video!! its kind of frustrating there is no setting for taring the portafilter while in the same mode as autotare and auto timer. I saw you had to use the pearl to bypass this. I think this would be a great firmware update
Love my Acaia Lunar Scale, but I don't use the auto modes because espresso timer is meant to start counting when the pump turns on. The auto tare is really nice when pulling a shot, but auto tare doesn't work for weighing your portafilter before and after grinding. Only use the auto tare if you plan on having 2 scales in your bar flow.
So you mean that auto-tare only work with lightweight objects such as a glass/cup but not for a portafilter (400-600g)?! If so that is really extremely dumb, mostly for a 330$CAD scale. I was planning to buy one tonight, hopefuly I don't regret my choice cause it seems you either have this super overpriced scale or crappy 15-30$ kitchen scales from the conveniance stores, with no inbetween.
PanzerIV No it will weigh your portafilter, but when you put your portafilter on the scale it auto tares, you does in your coffee grounds into your portafilter and weigh again so see the difference, and the auto tare zeros it out again. So using the auto tare functionality, you have to dedicate the scale for pulling the shot.
You can use the auto features, but you'll find yourself switching modes pretty regularly. I find mode 2 or mode 3 most usable. Mode 2 is the set it and forget it mode for me.
SetAlias this scale is for espresso and not pour overs. You will achieve more consistent shots by starting the timer when you turn on the pump of your espresso machine and not once the espresso starts dripping. These auto features will only start a timer once it senses a change in weight which is way too late. So that is why I don’t use the auto features and use the manual mode.
@@seanwysocki5886 mode 2 is the timer and weight manual mode. Mode 1 is only weight no timer. I would contest that the scale works great for a pourover, just manually start the timer they same way you would for an espresso on preinfussion
I stopped watching after i saw the puck preparation. That was horrendous.. Why discussing this expensive 'tool' if you can't even demonstrate the very basics correctly.
People, don’t spend over $200 on this ridiculous Acaia scale. Just get a small digital scale from Amazon for under $20 with tare mode and use the timer on your phone!
1:06 and 1:14 : how does it “kinda weigh” anything? Does it weight it or does it not? $225+ is a lot to “KINDA” weigh something smh. Also 10 seconds to pull 18 grams??? Jesus smh again lmfao.
It's hard for the scale to know when to stop the timing because there's still drips after you stop the shot, luckily it also starts late, since you start the pump about 10 sec before you get any drips so that helps counteract that a little. I think the most accurate way is the mode where it auto tares and starts timing right when you drop the cup on, and just make sure to start the pump at about the same time.
Thanks for the vid! Great review! But the lack of distribution 😭😭😭 rip little espresso shot
thank you for video- what kind of plate are you using for portafilter- I love the little rim?

The app allows you to switch them between grams and ounces. Not sure why you would but 🤷🏼♂️
Did you update the firmware before this video? Because I saw on another video that the auto start timer droplet function is more responsive.
Do I need to place insulation between the Acaia Lunar and the heated coffee cup to protect the scale from the heat?
If I use the Lunar for pour over and place a Hario V60 glass server, is it too big and obscure the digital display?

Is this the Lunar 2021 or the older version
Can I start the time also manually by just clicking on time?
Could I use this scale as a postage scale ?
I don't one of these scales but is it possible an update did the change of option?
This scale is ridiculously expensive. It's there a reason for why it costs 270 euros?
"This one only does grams" Why would you need anything else, anyway?
FREEDOM UNITS!!!
Sometimes I find ounces to be more useful for a single cup of pourover. 1 oz coffee + 16 oz water
Nice to see Allie again !
Where can I order the portafilter stand your using on the Lunar ?
Since seattle coffee gear is too ignorant to reply to any comments, I’m pretty sure it comes with the scale.
@@alex____1 It does not
Directly from acaia. Weighing plate costs about 30$
Came with mine.
Hi, my lunar scale is really sensitive to air from electric fans or even the a/c. Any suggestion what to do with my scale?
Either don't use electric fans or the A/C, or get another scale.
I would like to have seen it working with the app
amazing content
This scale is so advanced , it has its own TikTok account
Nice vid, thanks!

That was one non-level tamp.

Where is the 20ms response time they advertise? It’s stopped 3s after shot was stopped :)))))) lol, what a crap
The 20ms is the response of the live reading, not the response of the auto on/off function.
