    The one thumb down is from the person forever chasing Qtaru on the leaderboards

      Vid caught that thumb less than a minute after it went live, immediately as the link was posted to maincord, so it's not outside the realm of possibility. I just assumed it was Nidhogg, salty about being so thoroughly embarrassed here.

    I really appreciate the effort put in this video as well as the expertise that Qtaru is sharing here, but I have a few comments of constructive feedback for future videos in this exciting series.
    To summarise it all very quickly, this video lacked the "Kong touch" which I associate with strong editing, generalisable tips regardless of a player's box and rigorous systematic presentation. This video, outside of your useful comments to push Qtaru, felt like yet another of the many "guide" videos on Langrisser where an excellent player shows off their perfect team for hours with comments that practically apply to their team and not to other strategies.
    Yes, Qtaru's team is incredible, strongly synergistic and probably the best you could use to clear Nidhogg. But which regular player, or newer player, would have a six star Brenda and Rozalia, whose banners are very rare? What about the players who started after the Lodoss collab and won't have picked up Deedlit? I am glad you asked Qtaru to comment on other alternatives to his team but, not only were his comments mostly "x hero could work, but it's overall worse than this other hero I use", some suggestions felt odd like replacing Brenda with Rachel or Joshua which work absolutely differently (single target vs AOE). And the cornerstone of his team was a six star Yulia but the only alternative he provided us with was a six star Brenda...
    My suggestions would be to introduce some visual slides after showing off the strategy instead of having Qtaru stream his game that would summarise the main strategies (Qtaru said that other players use AOE teams but watching this video would not practically guide a player using an AOE strategy, only a single target team) and how they work phase by phase, and then introduce the main roles needed to clear the fight (the general DPS/Healer/Support roles for instance, but also more specific roles like Slime cleaner/Command provider/Debuffer for Fenrir and so on) with perhaps a tier list of the options available. For instance, following Qtaru's tips, for the role of hybrid DPS/Command support, Rozalia would be on top, with Lanford and Angelina below. For healers, Rozenciel on top, Tiaris/Liana in the middle, Iris/Melania lower and so on. Maybe an indication, when using rare or collab characters, of the more common alternatives would be great. Having all of these slides depicting strategy and role would help avoid the unstructured advice that Qtaru gave when listing alternative characters out of order and without considering other team synergies than his own.
    I appreciate that this would require more concerted work from you two, and more editing from you, but I think this would set this series as a benchmark useful for all players and not just a glorified showcase of the ideal team with sparse comments from your end.
    As always, I want to insist that I genuinely appreciate your work and it is precisely because your standards are so much higher than most of the other Langrisser content creators that I give you all of this feedback in the early stages of the series. I know this series has incredible potential and I have high hopes for the future! Happy Langrissing!

      Thanks for your generous comments! I agree with much of what you're saying. One of the reasons this series is a bit different than the usual Kong fare is that sitting back and watching a great player in action is part of the built-in design philosophy of the series. An Ancient Beckoning guide that can simply be copied like homework is a pretty lofty dream-that wouldn't work either, and then it would also be less visually impressive-so instead we tried to present something closer to a Platonic ideal attack. There are a lot of players who want to slap together the best run they can with their box, and there are also players who want to drive and build their box towards something better. It's one thing for me to say "Brenda is a top pick on Nidhogg" in a Should You Summon video, and another thing entirely to see her in action here. I know I plan to build her up for this now.
      I have to reiterate that I think much of the valuable meat of this series is watching Q go through the first couple of rounds and make some of the tactical decisions that actually add up to make a big difference to your score over the course of a run. So I hope people don't say "I don't have Rozalia, next" and miss out on the underlying mechanics of why he's opting for Rozalia in the first place.
      The first five episodes covering the five bosses are wrapped, but Q is already planning a couple of follow-up videos to discuss, for example, upcoming banners/characters you might want to focus on when putting together your AB teams, etc. I can definitely see us demonstrating alternative approaches to the bosses in those follow-ups, as well as revisiting bosses when new meta-defining characters open up what kinds of scores are possible, etc.

      @@Kongrisser Hello Kong and thank you for taking my feedback so gracefully. Of course, I should have expected that a series like that has already been wrapped up before the first episode launched, and I will definitely watch the next episodes regardless of my comments!
      I completely understand the voluntary decision to sit back and let a great player talk, I guess my expectations were just different given that I had hoped for an updated guide to AB with newer heroes and more original strategies. In a way, it is what you deliver here, and it has definitely made me want to try this fight with Rozalia and Rozenciel. Seeing the tactical decisions Qtaru made was indeed useful, I was perhaps only let down by how unstructured the "alternative heroes" section was, but I now better understand that this was not the main purpose of the video.
      What that shows is the need for me to stop placing my very arbitrary expectations on your work which, again, is head and shoulder the best in this community. I sincerely appreciate your efforts to perhaps include some of the elements you discuss in follow-up videos. I don't want to place any unnecessary burden on your shoulders, but I for sure will welcome with pleasure and eagerness any future videos on AB.

      @@MoonFantasizer Absolutely-one of the things that drove us to want to collab on this series is that players just diving into AB now will find a bunch of 1+ year old launch guides. They're still very solid, don't get me wrong!! But you still have an issue of players finding those and saying "great, I don't have Lanford built" or "great, I missed Joshua" etc. while not taking into account new units that can make life so much easier.
      Someone who did these battles a year ago could even run them again using the exact same party composition and just make small changes like giving Bernhardt Silvermane Werewolves or giving Kirikaze a Crystal Stinger, etc. The value is in the little details you can pluck out for your own use.
      Looking ahead: a lot of newer players have Rozenciel, a lot of newer players will have Rozalia after the Valentine banners in July, and a lot of newer players will get spooked by Brenda when trying to summon for Mariel. :)

    • @MoonFantasizer
      @MoonFantasizer 3 роки тому

      @@Kongrisser That is a very fair point, I never considered Rozalia as an alternative to Lanford but it completely makes sense. Qtaru did talk about it when he talked of an "old and new meta" and it was a point I wish he'd had expanded a bit further.
      You are absolutely right about these small details, but they can be a bit easy to miss in an unstructured format of conversation where these details can pop in at some random point of the explanation. That said, I guess people will pick up on what matters for them but it does require constant concentration for 90+ minutes.
      And it is true, new players have different boxes and opportunities!

      @@MoonFantasizer From my perspective, part of the issue was that we literally discussed the idea and jumped into recording the current boss of the cycle right when that boss was ending (this was not our 1st recording). Because of that we didn't really take the time to plot out how we should proceed and just kind of winged it on a recording. We did have some discussion on making multiple videos per boss to go more in depth on the character choices, but we decided to keep the recordings consistent with the 1st recording we did instead of drastically changing up the style. I'm guessing from Kong's side, that was appealing because it meant he wouldn't be relying as much on significant investment from someone he's never worked with before.
      Kong already mentioned potential follow ups, so I want to say your feedback is absolutely helpful in planning for them. Thank you!

    Appreciate the work, and actually looking forward to this whole series. I got s rank pretty early and was in the top 100 for a while. Recently tried to go back and redo 1 or 2 with enhanced stats and soldiers, but didnt really get much further.

    There's a mistake here that I think is pretty critical. Rosenciel does actually benefit from jugler plush. Her single target heal also applied a buff that would be extended to three turns

    nice, I recently fell out of the top 10 , and was thinking of rerunning all the bosses. Just been so lazy

    • @Kongrisser
      @Kongrisser  3 роки тому +1

      It's understandable to be lazy about long fights, especially when you have to set up specific gear sets etc. I've only rerun each fight once since setting my initial S-ranks so I'm due for a rerun as well. Maybe I'll do separate "Kong does the thing" videos after this series is done. :D

    May have missed it while watching and working. Who’s getting pulled from that lineup to slot Lucretia?

    • @Kongrisser
      @Kongrisser  3 роки тому

      It's easier to swap Lucretia in if you're running a team with an additional mage DPS like Lana. With this specific team, you'd have a hard time getting rid of Yulia (tank), Luna (aura), Rozen (healer), Deed & Rozalia (supports). Brenda's more of a straight-up DPS, so as wild as it sounds to suggest it... I guess it would come down to some math: whether subbing someone else like Deedlit out and losing her overall contribution to team DPS & Miracle uptime etc. counterbalances losing Brenda's multiple turns. I'll leave those details to Professor Q.

    If you get the S rank, do you have to do it again next time? Or is it a one time clear and then it's good?

    • @Kongrisser
      @Kongrisser  3 роки тому +2

      When it first launched, you had to set a score every cycle. Now it remembers your score so the only time you ever have to redo it is if you care about the leaderboard.
