Common: “First I would like to thank God that lives in us all. Recently John and I got to go to Selma and perform Glory on the same bridge that Dr. King and the people of the Civil Rights movement marched on 50 years ago. This bridge was once a landmark of a divided nation, but now it’s a symbol for change. The spirit of this bridge transforms race, gender, religion, sexual orientation and social status. The spirit of this bridge connects the kid from the South side of Chicago dreaming of a better life to those in France standing up for their freedom of expression, to the people in Hong Kong protesting for democracy. This bridge was built on hope, welded with compassion and elevated by love for all human beings.”

I believe that this is a matter of teaching other generations what was like back in those times when Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was an icon, a legend and one of the most powerful people with perspective and posperity of what all kinds of people that came together as one group to actually look back at what Dr. King have taught us over the years from generations to come and many more.

Agreed. He should have been nominated for Best Actor that year. He didn’t get nominated considering it was during the Oscars So White Controversy.

David Oyelowo fueled the gripping performance on Selma, which draws inspiration and dramatic power from the life and death of Martin Luther King, Jr., and accept how far we remain from the ideals his work embodied.

Golden Globe nominee David Oyelowo shines as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., who rallied his followers on the historic march from Selma to Montgomery in the face of violent opposition, an event that became a milestone victory for the civil rights movement.

Why wasn't The Last Goob-Bye by Billy Boyd from The Battle of the Five Armies nominated? I cried all the way during the song when it played at the end credits in the theater. We all clapped and cheered for 3 straight minutes, a magical moment I would love to relive again!
