A few months ago I quit using my phone for an entire week and realised how productive I can be when I’m bored. The first two minutes of this video match so perfectly with my experience. I started doing chores, since “at least its more fun than doing nothing”. And it even allowed me to do things I loved but had procrastinated, like writing stories. That’s why I chase boredom nowadays

I have a lot of trouble sleeping, with it often taking an hour or two hours of lying in the dark before I actually sleep. I hated going to sleep because I found that hour before I actually fell asleep so boring. It was when I was offered melatonin I was faced with the option to get rid of that time. I felt conflicted about it because I knew it would lead to me getting more sleep, but I started to realize how much of my most creative thinking was done in that hour before I fell asleep. I’m really happy that I watched this video, because it really did a great job putting into words something that has been mulling in the back of my mind. I wonder what sorts of things I can imagine if I have more than just that hour before sleep to sit with my thoughts.

Being alone with your thoughts is not bad as we think, it makes us delve within and think of things that are innovative and creative. Back then, being alone excites me a lot and my mind was actually noisy in a way it makes me think more and more stuff. I am really fond in writing and reading, as it was my favorite activities back then when wifi was barely accessible. It made me think of new concepts and create a whole story with my mind to the fact that it felt I am in the story itself. Ideas come at a random that felt like a "Eureka" moment, it was fun and I felt genuine happiness just thinking of new stuff in my head.
But then when I got to college, everything became different and being alone with myself won't suit me in my current state so, I socialized, seek friends, and forced myself into others just for the sake of surviving the whole college thing. After that, being alone somewhat felt like uncomfortable again which I try to find ways to entertain my mind and it happens automatically. Things that are not enjoyable became a hard task and I usually procrastinate to avoid it without knowing I am being afraid of being alone with my thoughts.
As I am writing this, I doing myself a favor to come back to what I was before, reviving the inner creative within, be alone with my thoughts. It's not easy but I'll try my best to cope with this "Fear of being alone" into something meaningful. I hope those who are reading this should not be a slave to entertainment and let yourself embrace the unknown, alone with your thoughts.

Everytime I try to go back to drawing I find it hard to think creative ways to do it again. Thats why all during the past, the greatest forefathers in arts have the most beautiful and detailed art works is because there was no distraction and with boredome they channel it to study and think every details putting greatness into their craft.

While you're right in almost everything I can think of in this video, boredom isn't having a free time within which one may spend developing his own thoughts, but also encompasses the loss of will as well to do almost most of the things one once enjoyed. Doesn't mean it's permanent or goes on for hours, but there's a difference between dedicating some time to process your accumulated thoughts and emotions (which I think fulfills all the points you addressed, and being "not in the mood" for doing most of what you liked, say yesterday.
I'd argue boredom mostly means that mood loss than the free time, as one can do his job while still being bored. Yes, having free time does provoke this feeling, but even sometimes without it, this loss can happen.

so goddamn wrong, boredom=your habbits no longer stimulate you -> 2 choices: 1.do i make some changes?
      2. I remain like this even though im miserable? (but it's easier... but ill start that 1 thing one day... but but buts, if you don't picture you doing this then you don't understand my comment, and sorry for trying to teach you the wrong way. I am giving some good advice in the comments because i got rich so my way works, if you're rich as well then forget what i said, it's meaningless, live your way. But if you wanna get rich listen to me, and if you ask the first question and you take action you ll be so rich you won't write weird notions of "boredom" on youtube like that. Real boredom is when nothing else in life stimulates you, but "THE ONE THING" that is your dream and afraid to do, so you actually get started on it. and when you reach the top, you ll have so many things to do to delete boredom forever, you ll want to be bored eventually, because at one point you ll miss having those deep thinking sessions :) believe what you want, but i talk from experience, too much i know, but no one believes anything nowadays, so im just giving more proof :v

I feel like statements author makes about boredom are misleading. Firstly, we don't seek distraction from boredom to avoid our thoughts (unless you're experiencing traumatic or stressful events in life, from which distraction is vital). Our thoughts often resonate with topics you already know and like, such as topic brought by a book, event that happened in game, etc. It takes some time to process information we found interesting and during that procession our thoughts are vivid. When we run out of them, we feel boredom.
Given examples do not resonate with boredom, but with curiosity. Those people came up with new ideas not because of being bored. They where only analyzing information tied to field they specialize on, then found something that resonated with their knowledge. That's inspiration!

I fear any possibility of going to prison and be trapped in a small cramped space full of people I do not trust. However, I deeply think of those who are in prisons... Out of respect for their reality. I sometimes deliberately drop everything I do and just enjoy my own company doing nothing other than thinking or reading. This practice has helped me appreciate the smallest things we have a privilege of enjoying as well as allowing my mind and body to really slow down and step back more often than not. It has also made me look up to the skies more often. I have always been content with my life but with this... I also learned to further appreciate TIME

It's true that in today's world, we often find ourselves filling every idle moment with distractions. The examples of great thinkers like Newton, Watt, and Jobs are compelling reminders that embracing moments of boredom can lead to remarkable insights and innovations.
I appreciate the message here, emphasizing the importance of self-reflection and mindful solitude. It's a timely reminder that the pursuit of constant stimulation can sometimes hinder our creativity and self-discovery. So, let's all take a moment to appreciate the value of occasional boredom and use it as a stepping stone!

Im a teenager with no car or money to go to cool places, my family is also broke so we dont get to go out very often, cant find job, no girlfriend, my friends live very far apart, I got burnt out of tiktok a long time ago so I don’t use it, I get bored of videogames very fast (over 255 steam games, naa shit 💀) and I dont know any shows or movies to watch because Ive watched pretty much everything in my boredom. I spend a lot of time just sitting in bed, maybe if I feel motivated I’ll work on my music, maybe do chores in the house or endlessly walk through where I live just bored and contemplating how fun life could be. But now I’m overthinking about things I never worried about or thought about too much before, it’s become a huge problem. I used to be able to go to sleep perfectly when I had things to do through the day, but now I struggle to sleep thinking too deeply into things like death, the past, the future, existence, etc. I hate it and miss when my mind was not worried about things like this, and now I do not know or have a way to go back. Boredom has sparked great ideas for some people, in my case, it just makes me cry. It’s now the point where I rather be at school than at home, every weekend feels like hell and even worse during long breaks (which sucks cuz Im a senior so school is ending soon) Because at school I talk to people, I mess around, Im learnings things, I laugh. But at home I don’t, and the overthinking caused by boredom has done nothing but ruin my mental state. Im hoping for one day to have as many things to distract me from my inner thoughts as possible, because what I thought could help me has only been making my life hell for the last year or so. Maybe boredom can work for some, sure, but it has done nothing but cause sleep deprivation, nightmares and depression for me.

An observation of my own habits relating to boredom, I’ve noticed when I was younger and I was bored of video games or whatever I was doing I’d simply stop and kind of just be bored until I decided to do something else. Now, I force myself to do things that I do normally enjoy doing, but feel no desire to do. Part of me feels that time is running out so I’d rather fill that time with something than nothing even though I recognize that it’s actually detrimental to my state of mind
