  • Review: Hotel Maya Alicante, Valencia, Spain - February 2024: • Review: Hotel Maya Ali... .
I stayed at the Hotel Maya in Alicante in February 2024, two of us stayed on a bed and breakfast basis for 4 nigihts as part of a Jet2CityBreaks package deal, which cost a total of £990 for two people, including flights, 23kg hold luggage each, 10kg cabin baggage each, seats chosen on the aircraft and accommodation on a bed and breakfast basis. As this was Jet2CityBreaks, transfers to the hotel were not included.
The hotel is located just north of Alicante city centre, around a 15 minute walk from the Playa de Postiguet beach, a 30 minute walk from Santa Barbara Castle (which is above the hotel), a 25 minute walk to the Marina / Port, a 25 minute walk to the Old Town of alicante and a 5 minute walk to the nearest tram stop, which is Marq-Castillo. The tram stop is very convenient for visiting anywhere on the tram network, as all of the lines converge there. The airport bus also stops close to the hotel, if you get a taxi from Alicante Airport, it will cost around 25-30 Euro.
The Hotel is a tall tower block structure, which looks like a 1970s construction, it has been modified inside and indeed this is an ongoing activity. The reception is bright and light with friendly staff, who checked us in quickly. There are four elevators, two old ones and two more modern ones, the more modern ones were larger and wheelchair friendly, the other two were a little smaller.
Our room on the third floor was a decent sized room with an enclosed balcony, which for the winter months could be used as a sun-room. The bed was king-sized and firm but comfortable. There was a double wardrobe, safe, TV, fridge / mini-bar, luggage storage area, vanity table and chair, a comfortable sitting chair and air-conditioning.
The bathroom was a good size with toilet and bidet as well as sink, but the shower was in a strange recessed cubicle over a small bath, I wasn't very keen on this, it was claustrophobic and looked out-dated.
All in all though I was happy with our room...until I heard the noise...unfortunately the hotel walls are very thin and televisions and conversations from other rooms could easily be heard. This was a real shame as otherwise I liked the hotel. The reception staff did tell me that as part of the ongoing improvement works that this was being addressed.
The bar was a good sized and the fantastic staff very friendly, the food and drinks were very reasonably priced.
The breakfast buffet was extensive, but it was repetitious, a little variation would be an improvement.
All in all I was happy with my stay at this hotel, I would consider staying here again, although I would also look at other options in Alicante also.
The film includes views of the hotel, reception, lifts / elevators, views from the top floor and third floor, the swimming pool, sunbathing area, gym, bar, restaurant and breakfast buffet.
