Like Kevin, I have lots of rocks that are similar in texture and composition to yours. Thank you for cutting a few of those up and showing me what to possibly expect when I get to slabbing my stuff! I enjoyed most your banded chert, and I am glad that the banding could be found penetrating to the interior of the stone. While there are many rocks that I pick up that I do want to cut and/or tumble, there are also many that I know would not react favorably to any such treatment, but still display well in their natural states. I have lately gathered what I am calling "Picture Chert" (playing off of all the picture jasper finds out west), shining them topically, and letting them show off there bands and colors without manipulation or substantial enhancement. Keep up the good work, and stay safe on the Mackinaw!
@@bloomingtonian7529 All I do is look at maps, since I'm a utility surveyor. I've worked extensively in your area, and I've viewed the Mackinaw from many different bridges through the years. Plus, you're the "Bloomingtonian"...and that's not the Bloomington over where I live! I enjoy every one of your outings, and I thank you for letting me be a virtual paddler on your beautiful waterway!
I haven't been cutting many rocks lately but I have quite a few very similar to what you showed. This video was the inspiration I needed! When it stops raining I need to get back to it!
Beautiful - every single cut! Thank you for sharing :)

How'd you figure out which river I kayak? I've been careful not to say which one it was. Not that it's a hard guess if you just look at a map.

I really liked all of them! Even the second one that you were disappointed in. Great cutting video!
