Hello, where is the Quadrangulation video you mentioned at the end of this video :)?

Are there plans to revamp the UI?
I used 3dc and 3dc textura , but the interface is just cramped, confusing , fonts and spacing seems off.
To be honest this is the only thing I can't get over (tools panel look good to me, for example).
I recently bought substance painter just because of 3dc UI and general interaction feel.
I hope you look into this and make it pretty.

The UI is jus fine and well thought out for what it offers. The rest is just taste. This program is vastly more complex than substance painter, as it has many, many more functions. No way to minimalize it for less advanced users or singular use cases. It jus has to be learned, jus like zbrush. Ever looked at Mari? Or 3ds Max? Are they "pretty"? These are just tools, not the work result itself.
Give it a shot, keep at it. As a 10+years Blender user, I needed 3 attempts to get into the program until I realized how powerful, versatile and user friendly it actually is, esp. in terms of UI always being in context of offering the right options for the job. Its pretty clever actually, once you get it. And using hotkeys will eliminate the need for redundant navigation, jus the same way as in other programs. I never looked back since for parts of the pipeline like retopo. Def. the most artistic retopo toolset ever created. Texturing has some certain disadvantages, like the lack of B+W masks. But it is a much more hands on experience than substance painter, albeit the more destructive workflow. It is incredibly liberating, flexible and really feels like a painting program in 3d, even the sculpting part.
I'd say 3d coat is the most artistic 3d app ever created, and offering the full pipeline from high poly to low to uv to texturing, it baffles me how people first crit the UI without actually taking their time and effort to first learn the thing. Every program has its learning curve. And every new program, jus like when learning a new musical instrument, can be confusing at first. But one can only truly judge this once you know your way around it, actually learn to play those strings, not jus looking at them.

@@harrysanders818 Ui was a long time issue for people wanting to get into 3dc, as far as I recall ( I do).
Making attractive, easy to use product is a smart way to sell more licenses.
someone from polycount 3 year ago:
"It also just makes a really poor impression when I want to show someone from the team how easy it is to make a smart mask material in 3D coat compared to painter but everything is a mix of laggy or unresponsive or usage feedback lacking buttons and actions and you really notice how they don't want to use it even though its only a few steps to make something. Especially around the material workflow its very clunky and just dosnt feel good. Also someone desperately needs to add some proper Layouting to all the elements, Text and buttons need space. Alignment is important for finding things. The UI could look 2x better and understandable by just moving all things a little bit according to basic graphic design formatting rules and adding missing button states. Looking forward to the new versions tho definitely."
"I really hope v2021 addresses alot of the ui issues rather than just adding a load more new tools. Dont get me wrong its a great package that i`ve used for years but find its let down by lots of new tools being added but nothing really being refined.
For example the smart material interface hasnt changed for a long time, its still not very user friendly to tweak settings in your materials as you are painting. Smart layers should be much more refined, be able to apply stencils and move them around later.
Layer masks should be easily added and viewed in the layer like photoshop, not hidden away in a layer blending menu.
There is no search feature for materials , so its difficult to find materials as your library grows.
When doing intensive calculations there isnt a way to quit out of it and go back, it just sits there for hours sometimes being non-responsive.
Having editors split up from paint, uv, tweak, etc really should just be combined into a couple of editors, paint and sculpt.
Thats just what i can think of off the top of my head. I use substance painter , quixel, marmoset 4,etc but i do have a soft spot for 3d coat as its so quick to do many things. I just wish they would polish some of these areas to make it a really great product.

There is going to be a lot of focus on the UI in the 2023 cycle, so please visit the 3DCoat forum and/or email support@pilgway.com with specifics about the changes you really want to see. Using a screen recording to make it clear what your grievances are and what suggestions you have, would be very helpful for the development, because broad generalizations like "the UI is bad" cannot and does not help.

Memag Neman...Even though we are going to be focusing on the UI a great deal, a lot of time and effort has gone into UI improvements already since the 2021 release. It would be helpful for the developers working in this area, to receive some positive feedback when they actually deliver requested changes. Examples of their efforts are:
      1) A complete refresh of all Tool buttons/icons throughout the application
      2) Relocation of the Workspace/Room tabs (they are optional now, but a list menu in the upper left is the default)
      3) Hidden Navigation bar until the user moves their cursor in it's direction
      4) Activity Bar (upper right portion of the UI) to allow the artist to reduce the number of panels in the UI, to reduce UI clutter. There will be some improvement to this bar (perhaps repositioned and made to function much like the panel bar in PS)
      5) Minimalist UI toggled on/off using the TAB key
      6) More streamlined/simplified layouts in each workspace, but these are all extremely customizable
      7) Some text spacing in panel tabs and other areas have been increased to avoid a cramped appearance.
      8) Tool Groups (ala Photoshop, with the small triangle in the lower right portion of a tool button, to access tools that are related to one another, such as different smoothing brushes).
All of these efforts/features were made to reduce UI clutter and make it more appealing, visually. However, the UI structure was always designed to be similar to Photoshop's. It's not sexy, but it's functional and familiar to most artists. We have no plans to deviate from this structure. Just improve it.
Please watch the videos about these changes and then make an assessment based on usage/experience rather than relying on someone else's criticisms years ago.

You can follow the steps in this video to generate some Morph Targets/Blendshapes in 3DCoat to export to a major 3D app, if needed.
