- Super quick overview of the tools you need to retopologize your mesh.
Retopology is the process of making your very high poly sculpts into animation friendly low poly models.
This is just an intro to the tools, so you know how to get started.

I've spent a couple of hours today browsing through various videos about retopo in 3D coat and this is the best one I've come across.
Thanks 😁😁😁
Interesting. How 90 percent of my questions I was searching in many hours of tutorials have been explained in your amazing and quick tutorial. Thank you so much for your work.
You're very welcome!
Seems like a really powerful tool for many things. I would love to see more 3D Coat videos.
Thanks :) will see what i can do.
The retopology tools alone are enough for me to buy 3DCoat!
yup, they are great!
Great tutorial! Thanks for sharing it! (hope this still applies in 2024)
im guessing some of the buttons might have moved :)
That's one the most decent tutorial on 3DCoat I've seen! Thanks! Too bad they're so few like yours on UA-cam
Thanks so much! Glad you like it!
@@ace5 Feel free to make more ;-)
Impressive! I just bought a seat of 3D Coat to supplement painting in MODO. I am still getting used to the environment so it's like being back in grade school again. The retopo is particularly impressive compared to MODO which is a great retopo tool on its self. Thanks for the tuts keep em coming@
Yeah, learning a new software is always painful.. glad you liked the tutorial 😊
Thank you! This is helpful for me as a beginner
You are doing gods work man Thanks a lot
I dont need topogun anymore
Glad i could help :)) they have lots of new useful toool
best video about retopo in 3d coat, thank you
You're welcome! Glad i could help!
Awesome, straight to the point!....Thank you!
You're welcome!
This looks way easier than that free blender add on. I tried it but it either didn't work as shown in some videos or it just didn't work at all. Gonna try this later.
Very helpful , thanks for the upload.
You're welcome!
This is a great tutorial!! Hope you do a lot more of 3DCoat stuff - very few guides out there ...
Thanks! Really? I felt like there are lots of videos..
@@ace5 Yes I do agree now - I mistakenly believed that videos that are older should not be followed since too much would've changed since then. But I watched a few and they're good it seems. Will now start your intro course!
3D coat retopolgy is the only thing I keep this software.
i realize it is kinda randomly asking but does anyone know of a good place to watch new series online ?
@Marshall Anson I watch on Flixzone. You can find it on google =)
@Cannon Gregory yea, I have been watching on FlixZone for since april myself =)
@Cannon Gregory Thanks, I signed up and it seems like they got a lot of movies there :) I really appreciate it !
@Marshall Anson You are welcome :)
очень полезное видео. спасибо!
Pozhalusta :)
Wow thank you so much for your efforts, i cant wait to get your motifications, so the only difference between voxel and regular sculpting is the voxel stretches polygons?
With voxel you can also make holes in the mesh. Voxels is good for blocking out shape, since you have no limits. Surface sculpting is good for adding small details
@@ace5 Okay, thank you so much.
Simply awesome sir! Any chance of 3dcoat 2021 tuts?
Hi, sorry not in the near future, really busy
@@ace5 Cool - I'm glad to hear you're busy - that is generally a good thing
Thank you very much for the video. It has been very helpful. have you ever worked or know Topogun?
I remember trying it many many years ago.. preferred 3d coat. Honestly haven't heard anything about it in ages
How do you get the reopo geo back into the sculpt room? and is there a way to add depth if you just have retopoed a plane?, like an extrude function?
Maybe export it and then import it back? Don't know about an extrude function. I'd check their forums
Would you say this is a much better option for re-topology than C4D?
Yes. Significantly.
Thanks for the video, - but if I did retopology in another editor and made a large pothole on the highpoly-model, can I automatically lower the retopology on the pothole in 3d-coat?
I dunno, try it 😅
Thanks for the nice video. Is Retopology available in amateur license? whats the difference between 3dcoat amateur and professional license?
Yeah it is, i think the difference is about of painting layers. But why not just read it on the website?
Круто 👍
Is there a way to see inside of a mouth to retopo it? Im really liking the 3dcoat retopo tools I just am going crazy trying to figure out how to retopo the mouth cavity
Maybe turn off symmetry and hide half the model?
@@ace5 i can only hide the retopo polygons, it wont let me hide the reference mesh as far as i know, it was the first thing i tried
Does RFill work? In the video he used RFill to fill the eyehole. I'll be retopologizing a head soon and was wondering the same so I've yet to try it myself.
3:20 starts retopo.
Will you show up auto repotology option
It's there at the end. Or what do you mean?
Ok, I skipped after watching your manual repotology, thanks for heads up, will it preserve uv or need to unwrap uv again manually. Can you make uv texture in separated video.
I think you have to uv again. I already have a video about uv :)
Is it for 3d coat or c4d?
3d coat for c4d users 😅
