David Scott It takes a bit of legwork to source the pieces. You typically have to make multiple orders from resellers on bricklink.com. Rebrickable.com is a website that can help with this, by pointing you to stores that have some of the parts.
For most of my models, if you find them on my website I'll have a link to their page on rebrickable. About half way down that page there is a section related to buying the parts.

18:53 -- Fascinating gush of emotion from Adam; I imagine this was the exact moment of realization for the build and all it meant to him: at minimum a bone-deep empathy for Sisyphus.

Worse, the pain of the piece being stuck in one of the bags you threw out, and then have to try and go through the garbage to find it. Or that fell off somewhere.
      I have only ever ONCE...
ONCE called Lego and had to ask for a piece to be sent to me, and it was a long blue tube which was part of the masterpiece tie intercepter kit.

Several years ago I worked at a juvenile detention/rehabilitation center. One day we were out near the front gates with the kids when one of them asked "Why is that little man rolling a circle up a hill?" Sure enough, right there on the sign at the front gates, was a little stick man of Sisyphus. The other counselors had no idea, so I piped up "I know!" and I proceeded to tell the kids the story of Sisyphus. The kids loved it.
One of them insightfully pointed out:
"So it's a long, painful task that's doomed to fail, but he has to keep doing it anyway?"
    "Yep."
"And it's on the sign to the place that's supposed to be helping us get ready for regular life?"
    "Yep."
    "That's kinda messed up."
    "Yep."
Later that evening my supervisor politely asked me to never tell that story again.

So many things to say about this. First, watching Adam build things is just deeply satisfying for some reason. Second, the design of that Lego set is just amazing, whether it's the design, or how lifelike the movement is, or the ability to hide or reveal the mechanism and how smoothly the side pieces slide open. Just beautiful. Lastly, a small criticism, the piece is too level to get the feel of pushing the boulder UP hill, especially since Sisyphus is bent over given the more realistic size of the rock. It just feels like the whole thing should be mounted at an angle. Other than that, perfect.

And we had a ESSO gas station just down the road with the same logo...

+Mag Yes, but not in the LEGO world. In fact, since the 90's Exxon's been replaced entirely by the fictional Octan.
But yea, Exxon is still Esso in other countries because their Standard Oil naming issue only affected US markets. Plus, because Socony is now Mobil, which actually merged with Exxon to form ExxonMobil, and California Standard is now Chevron, the whole name issue isn't a problem anymore at all.

I too have a Lego brick with Esso on it - probably older than I (I'm from 1960). However, while the name Esso was replaced by Exxon in the US (I think around 1972), here in Europe the name always remained Esso. In my country, Denmark (the home of Lego), Esso shut down in the mid 1980ies. But just a few months ago an Esso station turned up in the town where I work! It was a StatOil that closed down and removed their fancy plastic signs, and underneath were the old Esso signs painted on wood.

I recently built a LEGO set with my mom, and she has probably the most efficient LEGO (re)building process I've ever seen. She Knolls *In time*. That is, after the first time building the set, she goes through the instructions backwards and organizes the parts in small bags step-by-step, maybe 30 steps per bag. Then she simply lays out one bag at a time to rebuild sets (my parents build and rebuild sets multiple times). This makes the organization area very small. Finding things is extremely easy and fast. The teardown is slower than just haphazardly tearing the set apart, but it was the most relaxing build method I've participated in.

I love how that simple motion of the servo can bring to life the Legos. I also like clockwork. That would be fun. Clockwork Legos. Has it been done? Hmmm...

The mechanism they are discussing around 11:20 is called a 4-bar linkage. Dependent on your goals you can synthesize the desired motion with nothing more than a compass and a ruler or if you have more exact goals there are algebraic formulas for it. Very useful stuff for changing rotary motion into specific types of transnational motion.

+Trevor Arsenault I've never seen Mythbusters on TV (that I recall), so it's difficult to miss it as a weekly broadcast. I don't think I've even seen all the episodes, as early on, I had to pirate them. I don't think the local Netflix even had all the episodes later on...such a shame.

Adam makes the comment that building this kit is like getting a glimpse into the builder's mind. That is hands down my favorite part of building Lego. Seeing how the builders address various issues is absolutely fascinating. This is especially true with kits where they are recreating something that the design was not their's to start with, such as vehicles or spaceships from movies.
