Did the Carolina Panthers draft the wrong QB with Bryce Young, or should they have taken CJ Stroud?

Yeah bro the only people that didn't forget that is Houston 😂. We remembered all that shit they were talking about our team. Supposedly Bryce was the far superior QB and CJ is already a bust because he's a OSU QB going to the Texans that have the worst WR group in the entire NFL 😂. The worst part is that they still believe Bryce is better because he beat the Texans on Stroud's worst game. On Bryce's best game he could only score 15 points

Here’s the problem. It’s not the line, receivers, coaching. It’s the fact his skill set is so limited you can’t put together a good game plan like you did with Andy Dalton when he dropped 400 and the offense looked serviceable. Too small to stand in pocket, too slow to run RPO/Scramble, arm too weak to throw deep so no vertical game. His play processing isn’t what it’s supposed to be either. So the only option is short passes and he’s turning it over so that’s also not working. This primarily is on one guy

I feel your pain, but I respectfully disagree. Football is a team sport. To say that bad O-line play has no effect on a rookie QB and then blame everything on the QB seems a little disingenuous and looks like taking the easy way out to me. I can and will just as easily blame the O-line for the majority of this team's woes. Case in point, during his Super Bowl run with the Eagles last season, Miles Sanders averaged 75 ypg and was a 1k+ yard rusher. He was supposed to come to Carolina and restore faith in the running game after we traded away CMC. However, behind our O-line ONE season later, he is currently averaging 28 ypg. 28! Against the Bears, he rushed for a whopping -5 yards! So, this only proves that he isn’t what we thought he was and needs a top-tier O-line to be effective, which was the knock on him before and during the trade. Meanwhile, D'Andre Swift for the Eagles, who is virtually the same height, build, and speed as Sanders, is averaging 68 ypg! Before Swift got to Philly, he was NOT this good. So, you can blame Bryce all day long, but until we get some better protection and some more weapons (Theilen has 42% of the teams receiving yards, so defenses don’t have to guess where he’s going to throw the ball), I don’t care if you find Cam Newton and run RPO’s all day, behind this O-line will continue to suck and lose games.

I think part of the problem with Bryce is how specialized the team has to be around him. He was playing with the best recruits/team built for his style of play. He is not gifted athleticall(compared to other QBs) and doesn’t have the height. Until panthers can cater towards that I think he will stay bad. And basically that means they have to completely change their offensive personal. Which I don’t think is possible. There is no reason young should have been the first pick let alone give up what they did to get him.

For a six-foot and-under quarterback to succeed in the NFL, he typically needs to have some uncommon ability to overcome the height/size issue. I never saw what Bryce Young did at an uncommon level that overcame his shortcomings.

For once, probably ever, the Texans owner, McNair stepped in and forced the Texans to go after a qb this year instead of only drafting Will Anderson jr. at 2. If not for this the Texans probably would have tried to grab a qb in free agency and/or the 2024 draft.
So without McNair sticking his nose in to force a move the coaches weren't 100% down with, the Texans could have missed one of the best quarterbacks to ever play the game. (this is assuming of course he continues to either play at his current level or, god forbid, gets even better as he gains more experience.

Big difference in the players that the Panthers have vs the Texans. We had a legit #1 and traded him away. We replaced him with an end of career slot receiver that fell into #1 (not necessarily an X, just the highest target share). DJ Chark has never been THE guy, just a gadget. Miles Sanders got traded because he wasn't needed to win (we have Hubbard who was playing well BEFORE we got AND released D'Onta Foreman - another mistake). Spend the 2nd on Mingo and do idk what after we spent another pick on Marshall previously to do ? We got a new coach who was a complete bust with his last coaching opportunity.
The Texans at least looked capable in small chunks last year with their young RB and the returning WR. They added so many pieces to support through the draft, we didn't do that because we sold the farm. We're gonna be bad this year, I didn't expect that much else given how trash the line is to compile on the lack of weapons, small QB and bad play calling with no identity at the run game.
I wanted CJ but think these are 2 elite options, one just has a higher floor. CJ was more NFL ready and joined a team that was closer to competing. Not like it makes a huge difference but Bryce DID win their first head to head in the NFL, even if it was 13-15 lol I'm not panicking. 1 season doesn't show your future, less yet half of one.

It's also like we got the worst because there was nothing better out there we literally hired Reich first. Then no moves for o line in the off season or a real WR1 but because we are losing everything has to be bryces fault. Stroud is better because he is in a situation where people have a plan and believe in it. I honestly don't think he'd shine for us either Reich doesn't seem to fire anyone up.

There’s no excuses made for Bryce he has to be better but no quarterback can be good in the offense if you ask me with the amount of pressure Bryce is enduring.
